@arjafi Why was my flag for "very low quality" of this question declined by a moderator. I has subsequently been closed (or was already closed), which indicates that four other users, (plus me) saw fit to close it.
In that case, I'd receive a "disputed" for the flag. My flag ended up declined: "declined - a moderator reviewed your flag, but found no evidence to support it".
The low quality review has almost all votes to close. The fact that timeline says "low quality: invalidated" is what confused me. But it probably just means that review was not finished.
So sorry for the confusion. I thought that it might have been from the review, but the text you copied from the flag history says that it was moderator action.
Hey @arjafi, As I can see that you are here, so let me discuss my problem with you. Actually, I am struggling so much with my studies these days and for this I m partially blaming to MSE. I have got so much interest in the site as I use it for approx 10 hours a day which is not good for a 16 years old student who has just compleated his high school.
Being a good student in almost every subject in my school, I have so much responsibilities to carry on the shoulders not only in the field of maths but also in the other subjects
I agree that I learn maths from here but I m ignoring other things as I have got a long future and I can use MSE in future too.
I do not want too delete my account as the legacy (I think I have done a lot on the site in previous days) with go with that acoount.
So, I have an idea or I m asking for a favour from you. Is there a proposal for MSE users that they can request to mods to suspend their account for a given period of time??
I just want to be suspended as this is the only way I can concentrate on my studies
but remember that I want that kind of lines written on my profile: *This user has been suspended on his own demand * :) :) :)
@THELONEWOLF. That is completely your fault and I know it is going to happen to you anyhow. You should just leave your account as is, no need to suspend it.
Hey @A---B and thanks for commenting on my situation. Can you please explain what do you mean by I know it is going to happen and it is your fault?? It seems like I have committed a crime.
@YouKnowMe I can empathize with your situation. Unfortunately, I don't have the "power"/means to handle your request. Hopefully, @arjafi or @DanielFischer will reply to your comment above. (You might want to add that you were formerly known as The Lone Wolf).
Also, you might want to know that you can only change your username once a month, I believe. (So you'll have to do with your new user name for the next month.)
This chat room is not a good place to come to get mathematics questions; rather, it's mainly for chatting about the site, about some policy, or issues related to moderation. Usually there's a mod around, at least once a day, usually more.
Have you visited the Mathematics Chat Room, and posted a question there? It's probably your best bet, as it is much more "populated" than most chat rooms.
@amWhy, I have tried a lot but none of the moderator has replied me.. Can you call someone?? I think they are waiting for someone experienced to interfere
@YouKnowMe No, I can't "call" a moderator (no emails or phone numbers available to me) anywhere except through use of this chat room, or the use of a flag requesting moderator attention. Just like any user.
@YouKnowMe That's not how things are usually done ;) How long would you want to be suspended? And you would need to edit your profile yourself to say that you requested the suspension.
@DanielFischer I think I remember somebody asking for similar thing on meta. But I was not able to find the post. Is my memory fooling me, or do you remember something like that, too? (You've been around for some time, so if it was on meta, you probably saw that too.)
I do not know how reliable my memory is, but I think that the answer of the moderators in that case was that it should not be done. (I.e., no suspension "per request".)
I do not understand the top voted answer to the latter, but the answer mentions some Stackapps.
I could probably use a break myself. I might try relying on self-control - which will probably not work. But perhaps increased workload at my job might help.
@TheCount It's possible that not all downvotes were from the same user. (And I believe that the script only looks at actions from a single UTC-day.) We'll be keeping a closer eye on this situation, and if we feel that they are continuing to vote inappropriately, we'll take further steps to stop it.
But note that moderators don't have complete knowledge of any user's voting record"; we only have some more aggregate statistics. This is usually enough to find abusive voting, though perhaps not as immediately as some would like.
@YouKnowMe If you want it to say that you requested the suspension yourself, then yes, better do that yourself. Something like "Suspended at my own request because I didn't get enough sleep being always on the site" or whatever.
@amWhy Yeah, I declined that low quality flag. These flags are meant for posts that are essentially unsalvageable, and is meant as a step towards swift deletion. Simply voting to close (as you did) is sufficient to push it closer to "on hold/closed" status, which is the appropriate first set. I may be more strict about this than most other math mods, so perhaps you got unlucky.
(Also, VLQ flags don't reach the moderator flag queue for an hour, so there is usually ample time for the review to finish before it gets to us.)
@YouKnowMe I guess Daniel is dealing with your suspension. Just be warned that this will be part of your record, and the fact that you are suspended will be clearly visible in your account profile. Whether people read your About Me is another matter describing the situation is another matter.
@arjafi Okay; I'll accept your reasoning, (wrong as it may be)! :-) No, seriously, I can understand. I'm just finding myself frustrated these days with what I consider to be low quality questions (i.e. problem statements, period), that I sometimes have voted to both close, and flag as very low quality, most of which pass...
@YouKnowMe Yes, that can happen, and I'm willing to do it in your case. But if you want your profile to say that the suspension is at your own request, better don't wait too long editing it.
@DanielFischer, when I write it myself, people will say that I have done it to save myself from emberesment of being suspended by Mods, but if message by mods flash on my profile saying the same thing, there will be no misunderstanding. Actually I don't wanna go as a fraud..
Also, Why you are willing t do it in my case @DanielFischer??
@YouKnowMe Other people can't see who edited the profile anyway. But moderators should only edit other users' profiles in exceptional cases (like removing pornography or something).
@YouKnowMe Because you asked for it, and I don't have a particular reason to believe you asked for frivolous reasons.
You can link to your request here in the chat if you're afraid that people won't believe you requested it yourself.
@arjafi He admitted they were all him, openly, in the now-deleted comments I linked to originally. He even said he did not purely out of vindictiveness. FYI, I mysteriously received another serial last night, correlating exactly with him being online. I suspect this is because I downvoted his newest question, which, like so many other, is now closed or on hold. He never accepts answer, he is always brusk and rude, and now he is serially downvoting, gloating about it, etc. So disappointing.
@arjafi It also kind of makes the site less appealing to me knowing my hard work can be obliterated by a user who is then treated to no recourse of reprimand, but for now I'll leave you alone to handle it as you see fit.
@TheCount I saw some downvoting on your posts earlier today, but I have no evidence to say it was any particular user. I've noted some statistics from your account and should more actual malicious downvoting come from that user, it will be pretty verifiable. If the serial voting script catches it (I'm not certain if it will), it will also be verifiable.
This isn't me taking your case lightly, but me taking my responsibilities seriously. I'm gathering evidence so that I can justify future actions.
sure @DanielFischer, please do it till 28 march 2017, I m becoming a little greedy as I want it only for 3 months as My 2nd semester exams will end at that date.
@amWhy Part of the problem is that "very low quality" is supposed to have a fairly serious meaning which is why (1) it is unavailable if a post has even a single upvote, and (2) why edits to the post dispute these flags. This doesn't always match more "colloquial" usage of the term.
For the record, the flag description says: This [post] has severe formatting or content problems. This [post] is unlikely to be salvageable through editing, and might need to be removed.
Most "low quality" questions are just missing stuff (e.g., context) that would make them better. They are salvageable.
@arjafi Oh I didn't mean to suggest that you were taking it lightly, just that it bums me out. I appreciate your attentiveness! For his latest round of burnination, I would expect the script to catch it this evening (he did at after 3:00 UTC yesterday). Thanks very much for your hard work!
@DanielFischer I saw the profile (with link you suggested) before it was officially suspended, but following suspension, the link (to this chat) is not present in YouKnowMe's profile?
Maybe, whatever you wanna do you can do @DanielFischer, because I m nothing now, but please make sure that whatever happens, it should should be good for everyone
@DanielFischer I was actually born in Edmonton, but my family moved to Calgary when I was still very young. So I was never a fan of the Eulers, even when they had the Gr8 One.
