When I flagged the question to ask how long the question would be locked, I was told, "Forever". Moderators are authorized to lock questions permanently. However, https://math.stackexchange.com/help/locked-posts places strict conditions on this authority. I quote: "Permanent locks should almost never be used, with the exception of those imposed by the system itself. There are some exceptions:

@GerryMyerson There is context related to that question which I am not at liberty to share. You can either trust that the moderation team has done its due diligence, and that we had good reason to lock that post (the alternative is that we could have undeleted it, then used our moderator super-delete powers to delete it and keep it deleted); or, if you believe that the site moderators are abusing their powers, you can use the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of every page to go over our heads.
I would also suggest that if you believe the question has value, you are free to repost it.
