@amWhy The meta-post here really isn't a duplicate, as the answer was deleted by a diamond-moderator. Thus the reopen request thread is useless to the asker, since normal users are powerless.
The real problem with the post is that it is a call for moderator action, which should be made using flags.

:( @Xander I feel like I've been summoned to the Principal's office! :( No seriously, after I read your comments on meta, I deleted all my comments. I understand.

@amWhy Not at all. I am not trying to call you to the mat. I am just trying to make sure that the asker is getting a clear message.
They seem a little confused about how to use the tools which are available to them.

@XanderHenderson Indeed. I was more or less joking: based on only the message in another chatroom to come to math mods. I didn't feel called out at all. I'm glad you were present to deal with it more or less immediately.

thumbs up emoji
Text is such an inadequate medium for human communication. :\

5:21 PM
@XanderHenderson Indeed, I think that's why emojis have had such uptake: it helps to supplement dry humor with a smile, or smiling wink, or laugh, or when one is teasing, in a fun way, ending with :P, etc.
And, that's why context is so crucial in asking questions. If a student in my class comes to my office, I know precisely what topics I've covered, etc. But we have know clue about such matters wrt askers on math.se
Hello, @ParamanandSingh! You are heading into Monday, shortly?

@amWhy: Yeah, 66mins to go.
Hello @amWhy. With work from home everyday looks same for me

Yup, that's what I thought :-) Does India have Daylight Savings time adjustments?

Ugh... I am so far behind right now. Gotta through one more week, then I have a week of spring break.

@ParamanandSingh Indeed!

@amWhy: no we don't have daylight savings. One time for all India gmt 5:30

5:27 PM
@XanderHenderson Ahhh, that is just what docWhy orders for you!

@ParamanandSingh NOBODY has daylight savings. It is daylight saving! Without the "s"! Gah!!!!!

@ParamanandSingh In one week, I will move one hour ahead, so I'll be -5 UTC, instead of my usual -6 hours UTC.
@XanderHenderson Grammar Nazi! :P

@XanderHenderson: I will keep in mind to drop the s next time. :D

@XanderHenderson And I remember in your case, the reservation does not honor DST, but Arizona does, or the other way around?

I don't find @quid around these days. Perhaps pretty busy?

5:32 PM
@ParamanandSingh That was mainly my fault. I've usually written Daylight Saving's time. But I did not here.
@ParamanandSingh Yes he is quite busy. Maybe he has a Spring Break coming up soon?
Darn, quid's not pingable anywhere in the chats we've been able to ping him. Hence I anoint @Xander the moderator messenger to quid!

5:53 PM
@amWhy :P
Also, I am in a meeting now.
sorry if I am not paying attention

@XanderHenderson No problem :-)

6:09 PM
@ParamanandSingh yes
@amWhy I do pay a bit attention though. :-)
But of course I got a bit lucky to catch it withing half an hour.

Yeah, @quid. You are now pingable for a week or two!
@quid Glad you could stop by!

@amWhy maybe I am on Spring Break partying hard somewhere... ;D

@quid As much as I try to imagine, a don't buy it ;D There are many ways to enjoy a break, partying hard, I doubt for you, or me, would be a choice. Unless it were a chess party!!!

@amWhy well:
in whatever, quid, Jun 23 '20 at 21:37, by amWhy
Are you sure you're not moonlighting as a rock-star, @quid? ;-)
in whatever, quid, Jun 23 '20 at 21:38, by quid
@amWhy no, as a DJ.
:-)

6:25 PM
Aha! You've got an alter personality! No wonder your so busy, @quid ;D

@amWhy indeed

@quid :-)

6:39 PM
@Xander, despite your binding vote to close this meta post, all the OP did was copy and paste his answer that was closed, into the post. Three downvotes, and one reopen vote later, I cast a vote to delete the question. Take a look at it when you have time, and feel free to take a look at the question, too, @quid!

@quid: glad to hear from you! Also nice that you are partying hard!

@amWhy I'd let it slide into oblivion.

@quid indeed!

@ParamanandSingh hello!

7:00 PM
@amWhy Diamond mod votes-to-close are not binding (in the sense that the community can vote to reopen; though, upon reflection, I guess you mean that my vote is weighted more heavily so that I can unilaterally close). In any event, I have grown frustrated with that user, and have stepped away from that conversation. I am going to let the rest of the moderation team handle it.
@quid In case you haven't seen it: math.meta.stackexchange.com/questions/33268/…
Back to my meeting

@XanderHenderson I'd just let it go away.

@XanderHenderson Yes, I know a close vote by a mod to close doesn't restrict "reopening". I'm afraid by ignoring this user, both you and quid forget this is the second back to back post from this user, and they'll continue to abuse meta, unless they get a clear message to stop. But, ya all to what your gonna do anyway. Nothing I say makes any difference, ultimately. The mod team has allowed nuisances to blow up the monsters, to vicious stalkers, because you wait to long to address problematic users.
Just, mods, please don't patronize me in an effort to shut me up.
@XanderHenderson I'll remember in the future to annoy all the mods (or frustrate them, so they let others deal or not deal, or as quid says, you all will just walk away. Interesting how you don't let that stop you in some cases, but you're all willing to ignore other abuses???

7:30 PM
@amWhy 's To do list: Cease flagging for moderator attention on anything, because they're prone, like @quid, to pretend there is not problem. Cease reviewing, because no mod ever uttered a word when a reviewer was recently lamblasted in meta. Cease participation, because I'm sick of being told 1: there's nothing we can do, 2: I'm too frustrated to deal with it. 3: It's easier for us to just ignore it, and ignore abuses on meta and main... I see I really have no purpose on this site, clearly.
I did what I could do on this site. I'll stick it out for an official ten years participation. I do not regret participating, I met a lot of great people, but I'm also wiser, and less optimistic about the academy and those seeking math degrees and graduate degrees, given their competitiveness, and contradictions in behavior that flies in the face of the goals I strive to meet in educating such students.
Anyway, knowing the consensus among mods is more or less, "just let her (me) 'slide into oblivion' (as @quid put how he deals with what he doesn't care about)." So it won't be long before it "is as though I never were here". Which is kind of what is judged re: about my work on this site.

1 hour later…
8:43 PM
I was in error when I stated, above: I should "Cease reviewing, because no mod ever uttered a word when a reviewer was recently lambasted in meta." I learned that in fact, a moderator did contribute and provide helpful input on the meta post I referred to. Thanks to @XanderHenderson for that! And I'm sorry I felt disappointed prematurely in that case.

9:34 PM
@amWhy there is no need to do anything about a closed meta post at a negative score. It's best ignore and it conceals the problem. Deleteting it might spread it out by motivating further posts.
I fundamentally think that doing nothing is the best course of action.
In certain cases it takes most (mental) effort for me to do nothing, but I still do it because I think it is best. Rather than to go on a rant and vent my frustration for instance or rather than to engage etc.

I understand. But you are referring to how you used to handle things. You haven't had your "ear on the ground" here regularly enough to even know who's repeatedly behaving badly. I appreciate your explanation, but there have been times when "doing nothing" blows up into escalating issues (escalating in it's more natural meaning, not what it means in the pseudo-se language)

@amWhy that's partly true. But I can't change that on the spot, which is more reason why I don't do anything on that

But I understand that "first ignore" might be legitimate. @quid In part I'm still feeling the sting of a user who recently posted on meta, and only earlier today, was his post closed. That post provided an opportunity for two users to essentially target me in meta.
@quid Understood, and I didn't mean anything I just said to be a criticism of you. I do know earlier, when frustrated, I may make "digs" that are not entirely nice.
But @quid, I know and understand and accept this is not an opportune time for you to be super active on this site. In truth, I've very much appreciated the time you do spend, checking in here and there.

9:51 PM
@amWhy no worries

@quid It's really weird, because before I see comments in which I am pinged, I here the ping sound, like 6 seconds earlier than it shows up!

@amWhy interesting

Anyway, don't let me hold you up from further work you'd like to get done before bed! :-)
Darn, I meant "hear the ping", not "here the ping"! :(

10:13 PM
@amWhy here the ping! Hear the ping? Her the pinged.

@quid I just did! Hah!

But indeed I'll leave now see you!

@quid You have a really nice sense of humor (most of the time)! Sea ewe!

:-)

10:27 PM
@amWhy My decision to walk away was for two reasons (1) I had a meeting that I needed to get to (which is now over), and (2) the situation was starting to frustrate me immensely, and I did not want to act (or give the appearance of acting) out of anger. I wanted to remove myself from the situation so that cooler heads could act, even if that meant that action might be somewhat delayed.

@XanderHenderson I get it, seriously, especially after walking away myself, after expressing my frustration above. In any case the meta question in question has been deleted by three of us.

I see that.
I think that the right outcome was acheived.

@XanderHenderson Indeed. I understand that. It deprives the OP from posting another question about the deletion of a post by a mod. More than that, it isn't only a mod who sees there's a problem; non mod users did too.
Feel free to, and please do, delete my three consecutive comments above (starting here: chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/message/57266957#57266957), @Xander
I would do it, but I'm not a room owner ;D
But if you think they can/should remain, that's not a problem.

10:49 PM
I don't see any problem leaving a record of robust debate.

@XanderHenderson Good enough for me!
