For this I'll need some help from the moderators (or at least advice how to proceed).
Some time ago I asked this on meta: How much did “advice for first-time askers” help?
I also suggested some queries and you can see the data I got from them here: chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/91744/2019/3/30
The data might be skewed by the fact that the posts that have been deleted in the meantime are not shown there.
As I have mentioned earlier chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/20352/2019/1/20 chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/20352/2019/1/21 - CMs should be able to make queries on the database which includes deleted posts.
How can we proceed to get some data like that?
Would somebody from the moderators' team be willing to ask SE people to help with this?

@MartinSleziak yes, but I am not sure what exactly you ask for.

12:42 PM
@quid Basically, for the queries from this answer to get data including deleted questions. And if possible, also the data for percentage of deleted questions.
As I have not done something like this before, I am not really sure what the usual protocol is.
Whether the CM will provide the data to the mods. Or whether the CM will just post some output from those data.
I suppose this would have been easier if we tried to evaluate stats soon after the new feature was introduced - but I did not think of it back then.

@MartinSleziak I think it would be difficult if not impossible to make any useful inferences even with such data because there are so many other factors that come into play here. How do you propose to use that information?

@MartinSleziak thanks I'll see what I can do

Hello, mods! Recently I've noticed that a user with currently nearly 50k rep has been answering a lot of PSQs or other low-quality questions since the start of this year, if not earlier. I wonder if flagging would do any help to curb such behavior that indirectly harms the quality of MSE. Thanks.
I'm asking this due to the concern that an increase in the number of closure and deletion votes on posts related to one specific user might be mistaken as targeting.

4:18 PM
@Saad yes, you should communicate this to mods via a flag. We can then evaluate the situation and take action if we consider it as appropriate.
The concern you raise is certainly valid and users should avoid trying to address patterns of problematic behavior of other users.
The stress is on patterns. Of course, local problems can and should be addressed on a per user basis.

@quid Thanks. I'd raise a flag later since I have to go now.

@Saad Please do explain the unfounded claim that this is "behavior that indirectly harms the quality of MSE" If your'e lucking for good well-founded examples of such I siggest that you start in the CRUDE room.

@BillDubuque having PSQs on the site is, except for some rare exceptions, undesirable and if you will diminishes the quality of the site. In my opinion of course. If you disagree, please, make precise what you mean specifically with "quality of MSE." If you argue that it must by asked to Saad, my reply will be that in Saad's comment the last half-phrase is essentially irrelevant, so it does not really matter what they meant specifically. It's merely there to convey a sentiment.

@quid Thanks for sharing your personal opinion. Of course you are aware from extensive meta discussions that views on such matters are quite diverse. As such, I think it is best to let the community decide these matters on a case-by-case basis. They have the power to do so.

@BillDubuque no they don't.

@quid Why do you believe that?

@BillDubuque There are users that create a constant stream of poor quality posts, basically unaffected by negative feedback they receive from the community. There is little users can do to curb this continued ignoring of feedback. I am sure that you are aware of example of such users.

Thus, it takes a moderator to enforce the expressed will of the community.

@quid No doubt there are some very rare extreme cases. But I don't think that applies here. Since when is Saad's personal opinion the "expressed will of the community"

7:07 PM
@BillDubuque do you know which user Saad is talking about? How?

@quid I looked at users in that range and didn't see any that I would classify in thet rare extreme. But maybe I did not look far enough. Link? Hint?

@BillDubuque link to what? I don't know either which user they are talking about.

@quid So perhaps I know more than you, since I at least browsed them.
I suppose that - as in similar recent discussion - this boils down to where one draws the line for "extreme" or "exceptional". I only hope that you don't draw it too broadly. Please let the community decide such matters when they have the power to do so. Only this way will everyone's opinion be fairly represented.

Further I did not mean to imply that Saad's (or any one user's) view on this is the will of the community. However, the appropriate action is to bring it to the moderators attention so that "[w]e can then evaluate the situation and take action if we consider it as appropriate." Maybe we'll conclude that the conduct of that user is fine and let Saad know this, or that it is not fine but not bad enough to warrant action, or maybe we'll message the user to explain something, or etc.

@quid I can't ask for anything more than that except that hopefully you will put your personal opinions aside when deciding such matters, i.e. strive to remain as neutral as possible.

7:16 PM
@BillDubuque more major and complex decisions of moderation are usually only taken after consultation among the moderators.

@quid That's good to know. On at least one prior mod team that often did not occur, which led to many problems,

Yes, I am vaguely aware of that, even though I did not use the site back then.
