Welcome to SO. I'm having trouble seeing how you are answering the given question. More fundamentally, you've chosen a bad question for your first answer. Our ultimate motive is to create the canonical Q&A for programmers. In this case, Fabrício Matté wanted to create a canonical question to encompass all javascript asynchronous questions. This is why the other answers (including when Fabrício Matté answered his own question) are extremely thorough and trying to explain the concept. To summarize, I think you're getting downvoted because your answer is too brief and only code. — Teepeemm 56 secs ago

...there are many cases where programmers would be e.g. happy with having overflow yield a partially-indeterminate value or recognizable trap, but cannot accept Undefined Behavior. Forcing programmers to write code to prevent overflow will make code programs run more slowly than they could have been if overflows had been allowed to yield a partially-Indeterminate value. Likewise there are many systems where a slightly relaxed version of the aliasing rule could have been adopted, which would say that aliasing effectively creates additional variables, and any particular write or read may... — supercat 30 secs ago

std::string, is technically an extension. I can create a data type of string and pass that in just fine. What I'm trying to do is get other programmers to be able to pass in a string literal. The data type of a string literal is char[]. — C_Rod 55 secs ago

@ddriver So, the asker is expected to know whether there is a standard term for this particular paradigm in order to know which site to ask the question on? If there is a standard term, then the question is a fit for SO and if not, the question is a fit for Programmers? This is a bit of a catch-22, don't you think? This question is not asking for a discussion on what to call this paradigm--it's asking if there is a name for it, and if so, what is that name? To me, this seems a perfect fit for SO. If you don't agree, you could leave a better explanation as to why it's not a fit for SO? — nhgrif 32 secs ago

@GingerHead I'd rather not retract my comment.. If he's interested, he'll look into it and allow himself to decide whether or not it's too difficult. I know programmers who were aware of lambdas before they were aware of anonymous classes. It's beneficial in many ways, and should be mentioned to anyone still using anonymous classes for functional interfaces. — Vince Emigh 41 secs ago

@cup - This would be off-topic for both Programmers. Asking for examples like this generally falls into the category of being a poll and therefore off-topic. — GlenH7 55 secs ago
