@CsOkemf maybe there is, but is will largely depend on the application requirements. I do not suggest posting such a question here. Code Review or Programmers could be more hospitable — sehe 1 min ago

@SouradeepNanda: Well, SO's intention is also to build kind of a knowledge database, like a dictionary or an encyclopedia. SO questions and answers often turn up on top of Google search results. That's great, because other programmers will surely have the same question as you in the future, and thus find an answer without even having to ask themselves. If you gradually remove the actual problem or question from your original text, then you effectively take away this benefit. It's often better to ask a new question based on the new insights you gained from the answers of an older question. — Christian Hackl 28 secs ago

@Ravi “Good response” is highly debatable – the accepted answer is flat out wrong. Here’s a better discussion: programmers.stackexchange.com/q/156336/2366 (but it doesn’t really answer this question). — Konrad Rudolph 1 min ago

Indentation is one of the most important aspects in any programming domain. In my experience some of the most complex projects are become uncontrollable due to ONLY bad code indentation and wrong programming practice. And the most important part is that, as a developer you must be passionate about coding and then only you will be able to include the art of coding in your development work. GUYS PLEASE DON'T PUT DOWN THE IMAGE OF OTHER PROGRAMMERS AND ENGINEERS DUE TO YOUR BAD CODING PRACTICES. — Jaskaran Singh 1 min ago

Given that Python code is inherently understandable to the vast majority of Python programmers :), 3 lines of code leveraging a standard library function seems better than 15 lines of specialised code to parse and evaluate what is essentially a domain-specific-language that resembles SQL. Pandas too can be understood by most Python programmers. Or just use SQL. — mhawke 1 min ago

@JoachimPileborg: a const reference doesn't tell the referenced object is constant, but only that you cannot mutate it using that reference: the object can still mutate because of aliasing or other accesses. The optimizer simply totally ignores const-ness of references... they were designed as an aid for programmers, not for the compiler (I'm also not sure at all they really help the programmers, but that's another story). — 6502 1 min ago

I think you may have misunderstood my point. It was not that "having a consistent style" is bad. I say nothing to that effect. It's that the op question of "should my style guide mandate 'this.' as a prefix for all field accesses is arbitrary and capricious. I tild — Scott Wisniewski 44 secs ago

Stack Overflow is a site where experienced programmers can ask their peers for help with a problem that has them beaten. It isn't an opportunity for the world to get software engineering done for free. Would you consider offering your skills as a biologist for nothing? Do you think of Software Engineer as a real job? — Borodin 1 min ago

@Ampt You're right, it's too low-quality for either Programmers or SO. I still think the general idea of what the OP was trying to ask is better-suited to Programmers, but without some drastic improvements, you're correct that it would be immediately closed there, too. — Alexis King 17 secs ago

Firstly, don't use tag unity for unity3d questions. Secondly, we're not novelists, we're programmers. We need to see relevant parts of the code to be able to help and provide a meaningful answer. — walther 1 min ago
