@OctavianDamiean Where is this mystical chatroom? I can't find it.
lol
17:00 operation 'sandstorm' is about to start.
bb when I get home :)
@OctavianDamiean Thank you.
I've been led to believe that Mr. AppSlap has requested access to that room.
@JamesGifford he should be able to talk now
@OctavianDamiean Sweet.
If he gives you trouble, tell me. :P
15:10
don't worry ;)
I won't then.
Cas
Cas
I installed npp with wine and found the autoindent is pathetic for python coding
ive never tried gedit for windows but you will need to enable the Python Indentation plugin
What team do I need to be on to delete a page on help.ubuntu.com? http://bit.ly/kDKvz9 #ubuntuwiki
@OctavianDamiean He's not able to talk for some reason, even though he has 20+ rep on SO.
@JamesGifford damn ... the access rights thingy seems to be bugged then
15:24
@OctavianDamiean I'm going to have him drop in here for a sec.
@OctavianDamiean Appears that chat.SE thinks his rep is 1, and SO thinks it's 21.
So they're out of sync
@JamesGifford hmm, when did he get the rep?
recently?
@OctavianDamiean Very recently.
like, less than an hour ago.
@JamesGifford not sure but that might be the problem then
@OctavianDamiean That's what I was thinking
@Cas I'm installing Aptana ;-)

15:31
not heard of that before
ive tried too many IDEs and ended up back with gedit and command line
the hell?
remove libreoffice????
for the love of God!
get a damned DVD version...
soon from now Ubuntu will just be a big button..... INSTALL
-_-
Cas
Cas
lol
@RolandTaylor agrees
@RolandTaylor....
wow
@cas get used to it. @RolandTaylor is our resident complainer that actually complains about stuff that makes sense.
:P
15:34
They're removing Pitivi - okay fine, it sucks. But at least they could replace it.
Eh. I never used it.
@RolandTaylor I think they should replace LibreOffice with Microsoft Office myself...
Removing computer janitor (finally) nice, that's fine.
Removing LibreOffice?!
What will they do next?
Removing LibreOffice is like, trying to remove the browser
ITS NOT COOL
Remove firefox?
oh wow you beat me to it
I'll be honest...
Cas
Cas
15:35
i need to find more about dejadup since i use backupintime atm
I'm fine with removing Firefox. Just not the browser. :P
Canonical/who ever is responsible is getting me pretty angry
speekign of libreoffice, how do I insert page numbers?
@RolandTaylor It's a "community decision"
or something. :P
@TheX it's somewhere in the insert menu, after you add a footer
or header or something
15:36
off topic where is that big list of music players? I've got a friend who's looking for some, but I can't find the big list
I haven't done it in a while
@JamesGifford community decision?
Just like GNOME Shell
@RolandTaylor It's always the community decision. :P
@RolandTaylor found it...
insert > fields > page number
15:37
I wonder if the community will suggest switching to the BSD kernel
because "it brings us closer to a genuine Mac core"
@TheX sweet
@RolandTaylor Oh no.
I refuse to use a BSD kernel.
just because I can refuse to use it
@JamesGifford well sorry son, it's already in Debian (optional), it's only a matter of time before the Benevolent Dictator for (other people's, not mine) Life decides to push it in :)
@RolandTaylor Well, I'm switching to suse then. And then I'll be back, just like I was before
My google-foo is failing me.
wow. my entire search foo is failing
XD
actually, it's time to switch to gentoo
@RolandTaylor Eh. Arch is where it's at man.
Or better yet, Chrome OS
;D
15:43
that way WE decide how to break the system XD
Now I have to go ciao everybody!
@haltman cya
@haltman Cya!
@JamesGifford I should be careful complaining though, I won't have many friends if I continue to stand up for common sense against a wave of (throwing common sense through the door) "wisdom".
@RolandTaylor Eh, I've done that and I've just got very good friends. Not many of them, but the ones I have are just plain awesome
15:45
Of course, I'm also putting myself at risk of being blacklisted for disagreeing with the "all-knowing" "community".
pffft.
remember what @MarcoCeppi said - anyone who jokes about the Ban Hammer gets Banned.
OK. Since I can't find a question that asks it, I'm going to go write it.
I'm not joking, or talking about being banned...
Just being blacklisted in people's minds
@RolandTaylor Oh. Misunderstood you there.
ban hammer doesn't scare me....
There's always a need for the rabble rouser. He's not liked, but he's needed. :P
15:49
runs for his life and cowers in the corner
2buntu.com is going to become known as (X)-buntu
@JamesGifford I've never been much liked in my 23yrs... so I guess I fit the job description :)
@TheX haha
that's funny, I was once working on a distro called X-buntu
O.o
so you started this?
@RolandTaylor I've never been liked either. I'm always the "nerd" and the "socially inept". hehe. ;)
(it meant extreme, and it came on a DVD, and yes, I started X-buntu, not xubuntu)
lol
15:54
brb
washing car
I love people who do things like this.
@scouser73 is awesome
@JamesGifford what'd he do?
@StefanoPalazzo I asked a question. One of those software-recommendation type things. He's just answering like crazy.
heh I just saw that
I couldn't find one that was just a list of music players.
they all had restrictions like "I need iTunes import" or something like that
@StefanoPalazzo You probably saw it because it got flagged as a dup. :P
It'll look like Unity.
I think. :P
16:06
oh my
I'm mentioned on Ars Technica
2
@StefanoPalazzo EPIC.
Congrats. :)
not by name, but still, pretty cool! :D
I better check the usage statistics
@Amith haha. :)
@Amith Not right now.
I'm not a KDE fan. . . it's too slow on my system
@Amith haha yeah
@Amith alright. cya around. good luck with KDE (if you decide to try again)
really? Three close votes? :(
16:51
@RolandTaylor they are not removing libreoffice they will just have a DISCUSSION just for the sake of it .
@Alaukik I know that...
might not have known that ;)
knew that... but still thinks it's a silly discussion to even bring up in the first place
@Amith Libreoffice can run?!
It doesn't run on my system. Well, it does, but it's sloowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
@Amith for me it runs fine
16:56
@RolandTaylor hi
I can run it fine on a netbook
with a huge document too
@RolandTaylor I just have one question for you
hai @TheX
@TheX sure
WHATS UP?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
@RolandTaylor not when you're running three webservers, four browsers and a few vims.
;)
16:57
@TheX LOL!!!!
@JamesGifford if that is the case... then how does anything run on your netbook?
busy-ness is up XD
@JamesGifford O.o
@TheX Very slowly.
how much ram does your netbook have?
@RolandTaylor it has 1gb
16:58
1GB.
hmm
I think the one I test on has 512MB
I don't know why i am answering for him
I just don't run firefox as one of the browsers.. ;)
XD
reminds me of an episode of 227 I saw on gospel music channel last night
@TheX Precisely. For all you know, that 2GB upgrade that I haven't ordered yet could have shown up today.
16:59
Rose was answering every time Mary was asked a question :D
aww I miss the gospel music channel
@Amith no idea. I'd be interested in finding out though
