Hey guys, I run "fdisk -l" to check the name of my USB device. However, I got 2 names, /sdb and /sdb1. Which one is the correct name to unmount , format etc...

sdb1.

/dev/sdb is the physical disk and /dev/sdb1 is the partition.

I tried it and it turned out that sdb is the correct one for dd

doesn't matter. sdb1 would clear contents of the currently declared first partition of sdb. sdb would clear the entire disk. if it's a new stick the two are effectively identical.

I'm a user familiar with StackOverflow websites but it took me a while to locate the Ask Question button on AskUbuntu. Reason: Insufficient contrast (as can be seen below). A single grey / translucent back background should fix the problem.

@jokerdino that has been raised before. I think with the upcoming design changes, I will. The current AU site design was done by a Canonical designer back in 2010.

I may make Ask Question link part of the other top nav items. and give it a more prominent treatment.
