@LuisAlvarado You might consider merging that closed question with the master dupe as it has a good answer.
(Talking about the one in the meta post)
@GeorgeEdison No
@MarcoCeppi Why not? Just don't code on your phone?
There's no need for me to use git on my phone. I have my xps-13 ultra book and gitlab so most everything I would need to do mobile is covered between those two things
That makes sense.
I mean, beyond commenting and merging pull requests, you shouldn't need to do much else on a mobile device ever.
But there's something reassuring about carrying your project's entire codebase in your pocket.
21:14
Is there?
Then you always have access to it if you want to look something up.
Well I don't have any codebases...
I don't have a data plan on my phone at the moment so there is no way for me to easily look up something in a repository.
Having a local copy on my phone would be invaluable.
hey do you guys think it's a good idea to ask a question and answer myself just for the sake of providing the information as kind of an article in case someone is looking for it?
@darksky Yes
and it's encouraged.
21:21
@GeorgeEdison Yes!
ok thanks, I'll try to do my best
@darksky I've done several myself:

Q: How do I install LibreOffice 4?

SethI want to download and install LibreOffice 4. How can I do this?

Q: How can I change what keys on my keyboard do?

SethI want to change the key bindings on some of the keys on my keyboard. I want some to run commands and others to activate different keys. What applications can I use to do this? NOTE: This is an attempt at making a canonical question. Please contribute by editing and or answering! ...

Also, it's a good idea to check this checkbox when writing your question:
It will let you write both at the same time and post them at the same time.
oh wow, thanks for letting me know about that
No problem ;)
hm, take a look at this @GeorgeEdison

Q: Why is there no Git client for Android?

Nikolai ProkoschenkoSince there is a pure Java implementation of basic Git features called JGit, which also has a couple of heavy-duty users (Gerrit), I can't help to wonder: why hasn't someone implemented a basic Git client for Android yet? Anyone know any reason which would make this impossible (apart from time)?

Q: using git on android

DaveI have a desktop application using git for synchronization. I have also an android application which do the same as the desktop, but I don't know how to do the synchronization part on it. I haven't found any implementation of git on android. I found a jgit, but its unwell documented and I was not...

@GeorgeEdison Looks like the key feature is being able to commit. also what would you call it?
@mateo_salta I have a name for it... but it's a surprise :)
ohh, I like surprises!

@GeorgeEdison only additional catch for the git android is it needs to import private keys.
And not be GitHub only.
Because I'd have appreciated that yesterday.
Would have made deploying my website much more hip.
It won't be GitHub-only, don't worry.

Yay!
I'm not sure what would be involved with adding support for SSH logins.
But username/password logins will definitely be supported.
Depends what libgit2 supports.
23:15
Is a mod around?
Errg.
@FEichinger Nice!
23:32
@jrg Does that mean it doesn't support SSH?
@GeorgeEdison Do you have the pro forma script for AU installed?
23:50
Could some mod add the information in the comments of this post into the question?
@Lucio Why don't you?
;)
@Seth Will be fine if I do so and left the comments there?
@Lucio yes.
I have np but don't know if it is ok :)
@Seth ok.. doing it :P
It's usually not a good idea to delete your side of a comment conversation either, though some exclusions apply.
23:54
@Seth even a mod?
@Lucio A mod has to decide based on what he knows.
A mod can see a lot you and I can't ;)
And they might have gotten complaints about something or another...
