You will know when it's time what made me do that.
@RolandTaylor Mwahahahaha
You know nothing, minion. ;)
muahahahahahahahahahahahwhahahahah
@fossfreedom I made the changes in the 2 answers, makes more sense. How do you create a bookmark to link from 1 answer to another in the same question? Ive seen this done and it would be useful in this instance based on the traffic of this Q&A
click the share link - right click and copy the address.
15:06
you can just right click copy link address on the share link to, btw
@fossfreedom all done, thanks
@StephenMyall - cheers - another follow up - that chazdg answer - have you already incorporated what he said? If so we can delete his answer.
checking it out.....
@RolandTaylor Why do I always get the pie? I don't even care for the pie...
15:17
@Joshua you want cookies?
@fossfreedom His answer is not valid, yes and there is a another new answer from Arup I flagged as Not and Answer
@RolandTaylor yes!
@StephenMyall gone
@Joshua :O but I took all of the remaining cookies with me to the afterlife!
:-(
15:20
@fossfreedom great! a Q&A with large traffic volume looking good! Thanks for yoiur help :-)
thank-you!
@StephenMyall Nice work on that ATI question
I'm seeing two problems in the review queue:
1. False positives.
2. Laziness on the part of the OP.
Another sad thing I've noted:
Too many Ubuntu blogs attempt to be "Ubuntu Help Central", instead of "Ubuntu news source for the common man". BAD IDEA!
@RolandTaylor: laziness by the reviewers ;p
A lot of our users' questions could be avoided if blogs would stop giving instructions on "How to fix xyz error using... bleh look, here's half the instructions, figure it out on your own... noobs!"

@JorgeCastro Team work :-)
@Roland yeah it's dumb

Q: Can someone accept other user old question?

lambda23Can someone accept other user old question? Example: If "A" have a question posted. Then "B" answered the question (and it is good and acceptable). But "A" didn't open his/her account for 1,5 years. Can someone (say it "C", high reputation user) accept this question cause it is acceptable answer...

"I was trying to do this, so I followed this blog now my machine is broken."
it's like man, why don't you ask US how to do something, our stuff is at least maintained!

The first thing I thought after hearing 13.04's codename was julian

I thought it was against Hindu to eat meat, or is that just cows, and you are Hindu no?
I am a Hindu.
And yes, we're not allowed to eat cows.
We can eat everything else
@AmithKK: sorta ;p
16:11
can, not will
different cultures within hinduism have different food restrictions ;p
So... you can't have a big fat juicy steak?
Aww come on.
Stop Showing off :P
16:15
lol
So wait... you guys hold the cow sacred because it gives you dair products and plows your fields?
@Joshua: cows are more useful alive than dead to us
How.... I don't know...
I mean it makes sense..... it is the whole idea that they would be sacred...
@AmithKK great cartoon btw... I totally understand now...
:P
Lets leave this topic shall we?
Oh... well I enjoy learning about other peoples cultures...
lol
@AmithKK do Hindus have a "book" they read, like the Christians have the Bible, and Islam has the Quran, do Hindus have anything?
the Vedas afaik
I see...
Soo...if I am reading this right...
Hinduism is a very broad and open religion...
?
Hinduism is the predominant religion of the Indian subcontinent, and one of its indigenous religions. Hinduism includes Shaivism, Vaishnavism and Śrauta among numerous other traditions. It also includes historical groups, for example the Kapalikas. Among other practices and philosophies, Hinduism includes a wide spectrum of laws and prescriptions of "daily morality" based on karma, dharma, and societal norms. Hinduism is a conglomeration of distinct intellectual or philosophical points of view, rather than a rigid common set of beliefs. Hinduism is formed of diverse traditions and has n...

Good Night
later @AmithKK ... @Joshua I'm getting off the religious thing now. It was an objective question that's moving towards discussion
harmless discussion IMHO, as there isn't much going on here...
...yeah, i'm just avoiding it altogether so nobody in particular doesn't try to compare "what is the religious book of this religion" to "check out this idiot that's disagreeing with my religious perspective"
I see... but I must make it clear, that was not my intent..

What time is it where you guys are?

@EvandroSilva time to boogie
@Eva thanks. all the other refs to 'find' had an exclamation mark after the -f. so i have to adjust the +111 for executable by me?
@eva it's 2:10 pm (1410) where I am.
@Jeff +111 is the execute bits, if you want something different, I think yes.
it's 16:11 on Brazil o/
maybe this is why there are few people active
You should fart on a daily basis, it is good for you.

hey @RolandTaylor do you use synapse?
<supposed-to-be-asleep>
@JorgeCastro I used to
Whats up?
where does it store it's keybindings?
I'm trying to assign vanilla Super to just launch synapse
18:44
Settings?
yeah, it doesn't take Super by itself as a shortcut though
so I was hoping to manually set it in dconf or gconf
but I can't find where it stores it's settings
@JorgeCastro I think it uses flat file
aha! it does!
> This is more of a question to GtkHotkey, as we use that for the global hotkey, but I don't think it supports that.

Q: Can I change Synapse shortcut to Super/Windows key alone?

Capt.NemoWhen I'm trying to edit synapse config, it does not allow me to use left Super as a direct shortcut for invoking it. Is there a round-about way that I can go through. When I just press the Windows/Super key, the configuration window does not acknowledge it. However, a combination shortcut (suc...

nm Amith helped me out
19:34
@JorgeCastro If I have a C++ library that I would like included in the Ubuntu archives, who should I be talking to? I heard somewhere that I should first attempt to get the package into Debian... is that true?
yes
which library?
Well it's not quite done yet.
@JorgeCastro It's a Qt wrapper for ENet (a cross-platform networking library).
19:55

hi all
real quick question. If I need to attach an image or reference an image in an askUbuntu question. Are there recommended guidelines?
Just put the image using the built-in(ctrl+G) uploader.
Also, there is still time to fulfill my bounty with a shell script!

Q: How can I force apt to optimize the dependency tree for minimal download size?

ObsessiveSSOℲSome background information: As you may know, in a Debian package, there may be alternative dependencies, written in the CONTROL file as Depends: apache2|something-else, for example. How does apt select which dependencies to choose, and how can I override this so I can minimize download size? I...

@Oli I fear there may be a bug related to per-site metas and rollbacks. Can I make a post to check this? I'll need a mod at one step. It;s fine if no.
Wow... the AWS outage... just wow.
@GeorgeEdison wut?
AWS had a small "hiccup" this morning.
hiccups are not nice!
@BrunoPereira Since you just arrived, can you please consider making one post where I can check for a small edits bug on Ask Ubuntu Meta? I'll need a mod at one step.
@ObsessiveSSOℲ what can I specifically do for you?
Permission to make one post to check for a bug, and for you to add a mod-only tag later in the process. I think they may have overlooked rollbacks with mod-only retags.
@ObsessiveSSOℲ go ahead
you have 10 of my minutes, more and I will be sleeping or very very annoyed :)
@BrunoPereira After 8 or so minutes, can you please add a mod-only tag, like ?
It needs to have a few minutes so it doesn't fall in the grace period. That's all I need.
22:37
link when your done

Q: This is a post to check for a roll-back based bug

ObsessiveSSOℲThis is a little post that I am using to check for a bug in the SE code, on this meta. This has been approved as per http://chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/message/6596403#6596403.

@ObsessiveSSOℲ time to test
I need to give it 5 minutes.
I will ping you in 4
@ObsessiveSSOℲ time to test?
@BrunoPereira Never mind, it seems to have been fixed since the MSO post that appears to have fallen prey to the bug. Sorry for wasting your time. I hope that a site will be made for such testing eventually.
22:50
@ObsessiveSSOℲ you can always ping me for these things, thx for trying out.
No problem. I do nitpick sometimes, like raising a MSO post over a missing period.
Quick question. Fuduntu is said to be great for battery usage, but it uses gnome. Why would it be better than an lxde distro?
It's technically OT here but I don't think anyone would mind. Honestly, I don't know.

Q: Missing period in explanation about review queue badges

ObsessiveSSOℲWhen mousing over the badge progress in a review queue, one gets the following explanation: These badges are awarded once per review queue which is missing a period. Can someone fix this admittedly trivial problem? Look at the bottom line of text.

@Bryan this might be the wrong place to ask, but I would assume they have tweaked the kernel or something.
@Bryan Don't forget there is a Unix and Linux.
22:58
From what I understand, it is from the guy that made the jupiter applet for Ubuntu. His OS is Debian.
@Bryan yes but Fuduntu is based on Fedora, and both Fedora and Debian are a bit off topic here.
Not that we can't discuss, but just you won't get good answers.
Fairly new to Linux. I thought that Ubuntu was from Debian, and perhaps I should have said Lubuntu, instead of lxde.
It's OK. Ubuntu does stem from Debian. Lubuntu is a distro, and LDXE is a desktop environment.
Just having a heck of a time finding a nice on my battery distro.
@Bryan Xubuntu.
To be honest, you won't find that most distros are any better than any other.
Your best bet is to install a light distro and use powertop for tweaking your system's internals to max out the battery.
23:09
I did like it, and was able to use Jupiter on it. Then I tried Lubuntu, and became obsessed with lxde distros, not for the appearance, just for the thought of saving battery with that DE.
Well then you can use that.
Just have to find a way to get rid of the black screen on login in 12.10 now.
Have you looked around this site for a solution?
There is a general black screen question on the site, but I don't remember the link right now.
I will look around again. I am sure that I just missed it. Thanks for your help you two.
