Quick question, and I can make it a Meta post if needed... should something be done about the installation tag? Like maybe black list it? Despite it saying Do not use this tag, it still (askubuntu.com/questions/tagged/installation) has over 6,000 posts. Is retagging all of them worth it?
Never mind, I misread the questions

Q: I think we should blacklist the [freeze] tag

cocomac Yes, I have found this question. But, it was last discussed over five years ago, and there are still new questions getting posted about it, so I think it is worth revisiting. Also, the linked question didn't have a conclusive answer (in my opinion). I think the [freeze] tag should be blackliste...

@cocomac it's already blacklisted
@RandomPerson I gave that job to @jokerdino
:D

7:49 AM
@RandomPerson there's no really consistent tag there, and chat 'feeds' are basically RSS feeds based on tags ._.

7:59 AM
jokerdino has made a change to the feeds posted into this room

I guess that works :D

Don't know how useful it is ._.

A: Community team Q4/2021 Roadmap

LuuklagFirst off, great to see this posted before the actual quarter started. So kudo's on that! feature-requestaccessibility I understand why you included an image of the roadmap in the blogpost. It is a great way to condense all that information into one place. But could we please keep in mind those w...

A: The Skills of Great mods

SlateThis is a bit off the beaten path, but to be honest, the best moderators I've worked with haven't necessarily been the most graceful (grace is itself mostly a performance). They've been the most mindful of the community's state of being, and of the lines the community draws with its values. Under...

A: The Skills of Great mods

ColleenVThe most extraordinary moderators I've encountered didn't do one thing so amazing that it stuck in my memory as "that's how a great moderator moderates". Moderation is an endurance sport. Exceptional moderators are the ones who we tend to forget are moderators until they show up with just the rig...

A: The Skills of Great mods

Journeyman GeekI learnt to moderate on a very small community - strangely, a VA based battletech community, that accidentally picked up a Singaporean chapter. Warning, many Sci Fi quotes follow. While both MSE and Super User are significantly bigger than that site was, many of the philosophies I picked up there...

A: The Skills of Great mods

bad_coderThe characteristics that most impress me with mods is calmness, diplomacy and approachability. Some just excel at these qualities. I think these aren't mod skills per se but maturity the person had mostly developed before becoming mod. In terms of mod skills per se I'd say integrity in protecting...

And I can just add the "stalking philippe" (great name, by the way!) user to ignore so the room doesn't fill up with meta stuff. Cool.

@Zanna Really? I'm not that familiar with how it all works... but if you look at the tag page (askubuntu.com/questions/tagged/freeze) the most recent question with it was posted 16 hours ago, so I don't think it is banned from use

2:26 PM
@cocomac sorry... not the freeze tag (not blacklisted), the installation tag (blacklisted)

2:58 PM
Ohh. I see. Sorry. I wanted to delete my message about the installation tag (I read it wrong), but chat didn't let me. Sorry for the mix up, I meant the freeze tag
@Zanna Do all of the existing questions need to be retagged before the tag can be banned from use? Or can we ban it, and slowly work on the existing ones.

@cocomac my bad! sorry!
So, we very rarely blacklist tags (and only staff can do that) but it can be done without any retagging. Removing a tag from all posts that have it causes the tag to be deleted. Only users with 300+ reputation can create tags, so this generally stops tags from being used, at least for a while. When I work on removing a tag I close any questions that should be closed and so on. It's a long process. — Zanna ♦ 53 secs ago

Q: The Skills of Great mods

PhilippeI'm spending a lot of time thinking about mods, mod tools, and the critical skills that great mods have in common. Can you tell me about a time a mod did something that struck you as really extraordinary (here or another community), and what was it about it that really amazed you?

Q: Community team Q4/2021 Roadmap

PhilippeThis is just an FYI: I've just published the Q4 2021 Community team roadmap on the blog (and it's early, even!). I'm taking questions or comments here, or over there. :-)

8:21 PM
@cocomac No problem at all! You can also discuss about moderation-related stuff (such as flagging posts, voting, etc.) in Raiders of the Lost Downboat, which is a room dedicated for this purpose.

Who were the room owners at the creation of the chat room? Who are the room owners of the chat room now?
