Q: Which distro support more packages? Arch or Debain based?

Dipesh SunraitSince there is no apt in arch Linux I m hesitant to use it. Because most package is in either rpm or Deb extension. Is packages of arch Linux lot more than of Debian based distro like Ubuntu?

@Thijser I'm here and in a few other rooms

Ah so you are everywhere, and I see you are a mod now. Nice!

:)
I've been constantly hungry since I was elected

How's the mod life treating you?

Is this a bug or a feature?

I think it's a feature, mods are supposed to be more likely to help people right?

8:30 AM
I meant the constant hunger

Mods eat questions right?

@Thijser it's really awesome, only slightly disturbing how whatever I touch just blows up
@Thijser I think we eat flag
Flags
Or maybe just flag

I thought the flags served to get the attention of the mods who then eat the question?
@Zanna But I know the feeling of everything blowing up, Monday I blew up the cryptsetup and I still haven't recovered it (and I haven't got the faintest idea how to fix it)
What did you blow up?

@Thijser Oh no. Bad. :(
@Thijser posts, comments...

(if you have any idea how to fix this (or blow it up, your choice: askubuntu.com/questions/1254772/… )

Whoever starred this is clueless :P

:( at least you edited out my spelling mistakes which is always nice
Thanks for looking

9:03 AM
Hope I correctly discerned which parts should be formatted as code
Good luck with it

I think you did. Thanks!
(I do wish I could just bounty the question already, I doubt it's going to be answered before I can get it a bounty)

@Zanna congratulations on your Moderator :)) it's beautiful and powerful. You deserve it

thanks @Benny :) it's certainly an honour

11:12 AM
@Thijser ) you missed it

@jokerdino thanks ) (sorry for keeping everyone on the edge of their seat waiting for the closing bracket :)

)
Please, think of the children

it's unclear whether a smiley mouth counts as a closing parenthesis

if only we could apply syntax highlighting to chat. That would immediately show whether we are in trouble or not

Guys - where do Fedora based questions go? Unix and Linux?

hatmakers?

@Thijser JFC, no -.-

Anyway isn't Fedora a Linux distribution? So I would go with that

@DankyNanky yes, correct
@Thijser milliners!
does anyone else feel happy when an (admittedly poor) excuse arises to use a word you haven't met for so long you'd almost forgotten you knew it?
It just occurred to me that I don't know whether, when I want to make a parenthetical adjectival phrase that immediately follows an article "a(n)" like my last message, and the first word of my parenthetical adjectival phrase starts with a vowel sound, but the first word after the parenthetical remark does not, I should use "a" or "an"
I mean if I hadn't been rescued there by the convenience of "excuse" starting with a vowel sound, I would have been totally stuck
I see no terdon lurking in the userlist to opine on this urgent matter

12:35 PM
All I can say is whatever makes you happy makes you happy

haha quite

12:50 PM
@Zanna I think you use "an," if I understand what you're describing correctly.
Like, I would write:
> an (admittedly poor) reason
Not:
> a (admittedly poor) reason *

@EliahKagan yes, looks right
you've saved me

There's “A/An” preceding a parenthetical statement, though it's not obvious to me that the reasoning given is correct. (I don't hold the belief that it's incorrect either, I just don't know.)

that's sort of the opposite case, it seems at first glance

Well, in both cases one choses "a" or "an" depending on the phrase that immediately follows it even though that phrase is parenthesized.

yes

Q: Deleted system reserved partition, EFI partition, and can't boot Ubuntu now

Pallavi DubeyI had dual OS running on my system (the default was Windows 10, then I installed Ubuntu alongside Windows). With the intention of deleting Windows and keeping only Ubuntu, I logged in to my Ubuntu (chose Ubuntu from GRUB), used Gparted, and deleted ALL the partitions, except the following:- Part...

Q: Feature improvement for flags history

Abhay PatilIn flag summary section on a person's profile, it is difficult to differentiate the action of a flag. Although there is a feature to sort the flags' actions, but it would be convinient to see them together. Just as the flags to be reviewed are highlighted with bold orange padding, it would be bet...

@Zanna if you say what's in the parentheses you use the right article for that. Parenthetical statements are logically insignificant, not grammatically
