Q: How do I stop this python code from running once I logged in?

ijndkgeoHere is the Code: from webbot import Browser import random as rand passw = "" al = ['a', 'b', 'c','d','e','f','g','h','i','j','k','l','m','n','o','q','r','s','t','u','v','w','x','y','z','p'] passw = str(rand.randint(0, 9))+str(rand.randint(0, 9))+"is"+str(rand.randint(0,9))+str(rand.randint(0,9)...

dubious :X

ooooh bytey you are quick :=)

/shrug

:D

I see that.
Pondering whether I should just close or migrate to Unix.SE

7:54 AM
you should not close it as part of a mod action ;-)
it looks decent enough to move though.

@Rinzwind ?

from past actions from mods I would claim you should just let users close it and only force a close if it is bad. Like the previous one: it looks like a hacking attempt. Bad topic :)
The one about debian... there is no rush action needed. it will get closed
did that make sense? :D

kinda, but...
I don't believe too much in holding back if the issue is clear.

ok :D
every mod has his/her own methods :=)

When in doubt, I let the community vote on it (or wait for another mod to hammer), but if I come across something and it's pretty sure it will and has to be closed anyway, why not just do it :)

8:05 AM
ah it got closed just now

Unfortunately.
That means apparently I have to reopen it in order to close-migrate it again.

:D
oh you did it~
mods tend to remove the comments before moving it >:-D

fair point
next time :P

8:30 AM
@Seth Yes, and that's where I usually would add a a coment. That comes under the "comment to explain why code exists rather than what it does" above.

Q: why swap so large when try peppermint os on live usb? (The usb's size is smaller than the swap's size)

ydhhatI try peppermint os on live usb. Check ram by the command free -h and the result is My usb is 4G, my ram is 4G. Why swap is 5.7G? And does this happen in any other ubuntu based distros? As I understand, trying ubuntu distros on live usb does not create swap on hard disk, so I think to 3 ...

@zanna how you doing? Is it true there's a shortage of water in Chennai? One Chief Minister, now deceased, had set up or planned to set up a desalination plant to try to ease the water woes.

11:15 AM
@DKBose I thought we have one already, and two or three being built, but still demand will exceed supply
I think it is true yes
scary
I am fine, super busy with work

@zanna, the sad truth is that large parts of India are totally dependent on a decent monsoon :(

There was talk of linking rivers and constructing channels, etc but that went nowhere.

I can't do all the work I have... a while ago I got up from my desk to take a break, and then decided to lie down on the relatively cool floor for a minute, and fell asleep, apparently for like a whole hour
@DKBose yeah... here we experience climate change as an existential threat
no mistake
not as unseasonably fine weather, as has mostly been the case so far in UK
last night I went up to the roof to hang laundry and it was raining a little. Just enough to smell good, you know, not really raining... Hope it will rain a little properly soon
at least the sea is there for us if we can desalinate it fast enough
it's bringing us nice cooling breezes as well
we are lucky
what about inland places lacking water :(
the water we have is pretty salty already tbh... at least the water my reverse osmosis machine spits out as waste is so salty I can tast it when I use it for washing, so salty it's not clear and leaves white residue

11:43 AM
Tamil Nadu should get more rain in December. In case you didn't know, the smell of the first rains is partly due to geosmin: "a contributor to the strong scent (petrichor) that occurs in the air when rain falls after a dry spell of weather or when soil is disturbed."

Of course, that's later on replaced by other less pleasant odors as the monsoon progresses ;)

@DKBose haha yes funnily enough I was reading recently about what causes that smell when the rain starts - a combination of plant oils and soil chemicals and ozone or something

Maybe make reservoirs to hold excess rain and save for dry season? Fruit and vegetable farming could skyrocket as by-product. And construction is good for economy...

@DKBose pretty much any body of water here smells bad, so yeah, I can imagine...
I think I live in a flood-prone area too
I think my current visa will expire before the real rainy season...

@WinEunuuchs2Unix true. The British built reservoirs in their time but probably didn't foresee the population growth.
@Zanna when I was there the "Cooum" river was notorious. Has that been cleaned up?

Yes but the new idea is to build humongous reservoirs that store enough water to irrigate a million square kilometers of land daily for 11 months of year. You can then export 10 times more fruits and vegetables than California exports (or something like that).

11:54 AM
@WinEunuuchs2Unix that can be done if one has a "strong" government. IIRC, China built a mega dam or storage device. Here, GreenPeace etc still can influence matters.

Orgs like greenpeace are funded by strong nations to keep other nations weak. Gotta run to work now.... ciao.

@DKBose I walked over it yesterday... it didn't seem good haha

@Zanna that, unfortunately, isn't rare. Many water bodies and rivers are still regarded as ways to get rid of stuff :(

12:14 PM
it's understandable, I mean there is a lack of infrastructure...

@Zanna yes and no. We want a seat at the UNSC, plan flights to Mars, have bullet trains, establish polar bases and so on.

12:50 PM
@DKBose for sure, but I mean municipal waste collection, recycling facilities etc...

@Zanna, that's another sad story. Anything that can be profitably recycled is; anything not of value is …

Q: Can I use Plugins for Vim which are mounted in a Docker-container

JARSo I am currently running Ubuntu, and I want to use the Ubuntu docker-image and mount the plugin folder (.vim/bundle) in the container to my host machine. Because there are some Plugins that are hard to Install like YouCompleteMe. I want to have a Docker Image that I can run on my Ubuntu machines...

Q: Kernel Panic Issue - not syncing VFS, unable to mount root fs - How do I resolve it?

ankushI suddenly got a notification of my CPU usage being high, and when I check my website - it was down. And, then tried to log in to FTP to deactivate WordPress plugins to see if it's an issue with WordPress (but couldn't access FTP/SSH as well) Then I went to the dashboard and tried to access the...

Q: Thre are a lot of solutions in this forum in order to solve some problems. How we can be safe about all those lines of code that we install?

VicenteCThere is a lot of people who code solutions and post it in forums like this one. I think, maybe I'm wrong because I'm a beginner, that this people is able to introduce "evil code". Is some organization taking care for this or it's a user's responsibility?

10:51 PM
^^^ You can trust most of the code here not to be evil, except @Fabby stuff of course :P
@MageintheBarrel you already posted your question on the mainboard about an hour ago or so. Give it some time for people to read and reply.
@dessert FYI ^^^
@DKBose I've noticed that a lot. I think they need to drop angled grates into the river, pull them up to empty garbage into trucks to land fill, wash, rinse, repeat... Plus it's good job creation for the economy!
