Q: convert the dates to a standard format

JasonI am using this command, find -name (file name) -ls | awk '{print $11,"\t",$5,"\t",$7,"\t",$8,$10}' to gather information of tons of files. However, some files are giving us weird numbers where date should be, if files are modified in 2018. was wondering if you have any suggestion on this to c...

time for an intro to programming lecture
yay we're learning about the BIOS
"press enter to enter the BIOS"
what brand does that??
enter?
18:17
hey @NathanOsman, question for you.
do you remember the date that i wrote the sechat website for you?
"1 is the code for everything is OK"
wat
nevermind, got it. ty search
@TheWanderer why are you learning about BIOS in into to programming...
is this HS? This is HS, isn't it.
@blade19899 Long explanation:

DKIM is public-key cryptography to prove that email came from a specific server. It does this by publishing a public component in DNS (with an identifier) and signing each message with the private component. The receiving email server takes the FROM address and the identifier in the email, and verifies the signature against the public key.

DMARC is a policy, basically. It instructs email servers what to check for with regards to DKIM and SPF, and what to do with emails that fail those things. For example, you can specify more about how to handle spam - how st
18:33
@Seth college
@TheWanderer I'm so sorry.
@Seth it was also more just of a "hey this is what supports your software"
but now we're learning how to use Visual Studio
Ok that's better. As long as you're not going to use Visual Basic now.
and about what comments are
C++
the homework assignment due tomorrow is to print 5 messages
so naturally, I made a number guessing game
@TheWanderer This is acceptable.
18:35
why not java
C++ is a mess tho
But why did they pick C++ for a beginner class..
I hate the formatting of it
lol
because "if you learn C++ you learn every other language"
18:35
thats any mid-level language
wut
exactly Kaz
although to be fair, C++ makes no sense from Java
mostly because it looks sort of like Java
but nothing in Java actually works
you're not supposed to use global variables, for classes you need a header file
I mean. That's not really a reason to hate C++.
string isn't String
no that's not why I dislike it
here's why I don't like it
nah c++ is a good language, but it is kind of a hammer
18:37
you can't switch a string
it's designed at a lower level than convenient, i suppose
you're not supposed to multi-line long concatenations or conditions
you have to define functions above where you're using them, or make a placeholder
kek
but why did I just get 2 chat flags?
and why is it always from the Russians?
@KazWolfe It's a speed/execution efficiency tradeoff really.
18:39
no matter how many times we say to only flag offensive messages
they still flag questions that should be on main
and other completely inoffensive
yeah, no, i get that. though the lack of a good string thing is kinda... fun for newcomers
I want my strings
not wrapped char[]s
so multi-char inputs needs to use ugly if/else blocks
using std::string
boom
string
it's not a real string
you can't switch it, you can't toLowerCase() it
Define real string.
18:42
it has all the same functionality as a char[]
@Seth well in Java, it's a CharSequence, which has helper methods to make things manageable
you can't do much with a string in C++
stupid TeX
masterful programming
@TheWanderer did he at least commented the program too ;) ?
there's a comment on the x = x + 5
and he doesnt put you to sllep with this ?
18:51
oh he was demoing bad code
lol
i seen worse
jesus christ this guy in SO Russia
he's saying the system needs to be reworked because he isn't using the right flag
can I get some support?
which system?
c++?
curses incompetent bot
it. refuses. to. hand. off. to. slave. nodes. for. processing. ugh.
19:12
and it works again.
finally

Someone called for me?
Kaz but he figured it out

Q: Common location for systemd unit files on Ubuntu and RHEL

MargedI need to create a scripted install for a list of SystemD services. on a totally related note, @NathanOsman you have MC right?

MC?
Minecraft
Nope
I'm a little too busy for that, sadly.
whaa
how does one not have MC
I need like 28 hours in a day, man.
24 isn't cutting it. :P
what are you up to lately?
20:09
Work.
Also work.
:P
seems legit
vague but legit
Yup
Aaand that's the end of my lunch break, so... back to work, lol.
21:04
are mods allowed to un-accept others' answers?
I can't remember if it's mods or CMs who can
mods can't, i don't think CMs can outside of db
21:23
@KazWolfe Outside of DB?
database access
so you mean "inside the DB"
UPDATE TABLE SET ACCEPTANCE=0 WHERE AID=x;
there might be a way without database access, but i'm not aware of it. i think it's like votes.
