@StefanoPalazzo Yeah they do require a lot of breath and stamina.
Ah that is a "known issue" (it is uploaded to someone else's fb and I can't change the privacy settings) - scroll down the page and watch the old version instead
I am running Ubuntu in VirtualBox (on a Windows 7 host). Several times now, the top-level menu bar, the task bar — and seemingly every system dialog — have forgotten the out-of-the-box "Ambiance" theme they conform to when I first installed the system. Window captions still preserve the theme, bu...
While translating I happened to see the string [Ubuntu] "works with PC files, printers, cameras and MP3 players". (It appears on the Web page we land while using Google Chrome.)
I can't get it well what "PC files" mean. Do we mean the files specific to that other OS such as .doc files? Or something else? If we are using Ubuntu on a PC, the files it works with are PC files and this is very natural... Am I wrong?
Would it be better to express it in some other way or not?
whew, today i've installed 7.04, 7.10, 8.04, 8.10, 9.04, 9.10, 10.04, 10.10, and am now doing an upgrade 9.10 -> 10.04 -> 11.04. that's only fun with an OS that installs as fast as ubuntu. :-)
Are others experiencing this phenomenon of the chat history jumping to the very top and then scrolling back down to the bottom again every time a new message appears?
@Totty when you say "it never ends", you mean the installation is unusably slow all the time, or do you mean that it's stuck in some sort of loop somewhere?
i dont know if is stuck or not, but it doesnt read the usb... and it doesnt continue. I know it should end in about a hour. the last time I tried it taked 5 hours only to get to 2 or 3th step in the installation...
I presume you don't have the option of using a CD? (you can install the normal ubuntu desktop edition, and install the netbook interface from within that)
@Totty when the little pictogram of the man and the keyboard shows up, press Escape, you can then hit (F6 I think it is), and select "Disable ACPI" (and anything that sounds vaguely similar, for good measure)
There may also be some related settings in the BIOS, but I don't know much about that
There should be a bunch of hints at the bottom, like "F6 Other Options", hit F6 (or whatever it is) and then you can hit the space bar to enable any one of the options you're presented with
@TheX, yeah; I'm suggesting to disable it (for no good reason other than that it's worked for me in the past, when I installed ubuntu on old or strange hardware)
@Totty you see you get a couple of seconds to act when the little picture of a man and a keyboard shows up at the bottom of the screen, like in the second image in your question
Hello,
I'm noot sure if my title is corect... corect me if I'm wrong :)
When I connect to my server (ubuntu server 10.10), I get this:
[email protected] ~>
How can I remove ".belkin"?
I've been wanting to try out Kubuntu and Kubuntu Mobile Phone Preview, so i've created a usb startup disk (two rather) as usual. But it doesn't boot:
These are the kernel messages I get. At the time this picture is taken (maybe half a second after it's started booting), the system is utterly l...
@TheX I couldn't say, but I guess you're right yes
@Totty do what Oli recommends in his answer,
> At the menu there should be an option to edit the boot settings. Just wang acpi=off and noapic on the end. You might only need one or the other.. But I can't see it hurting to try both at once.
> In addition to displaying a popup menu, the F6 key also activates in-line editing of the boot command. Pressing F6 brings up the popup menu. Pressing ESC, whether selections were made or not, removes the popup window but opens the boot command for editing.
> The phrase "Boot Options" is fixed on the left side of the screen. The command scrolls off to the left to leave the right end available for appending. The user may add additional inputs after the "-- ". Allow one space between each additional input.
