Quick question
If you are running a web server? Is it normal that when people on the same network as the server access the website, the web server interprets it as coming from 127.0.0.1? When someone accesses the website it shows up as 127.0.0.1 in logs and it bypasses the .htaccess file that only allows 127.0.0.1.
This does not occur outside when accessed outside the network
not unless you have a weird proxy config.
brb to answer questions
if you had nginx running on the same box, it could look like that.
and I don't use apache or htaccess files at all

@RobotHumans How would I fix it?

Q: Modify Ubuntu overlayroot @ boot time

WalterThe overlayroot package for Ubuntu is great, it really simplifies using overlayfs to protect the root volume from writes. I am trying to mirror what I've been doing previously and cannot seem to do it out of the box with overlayroot. I want to be able to configure which underlying backing store...

put the proxy that's making it look like it's coming from 127.0.0.1 on different metal

Q: when I remove the sougoupinyin, I get an error

xiao Wu~$ sudo apt-get remove sougoupinyin Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done E: Unable to locate package sougoupinyin

Sounds like something from bleach xD
sougoupinyin is actually a Korean delicacy
what is it?
Oops I thought the room was empty as I dropped that lie :)

It should be a Korean delicacy perhaps

I assumed it was a script style

@AmithKK Now I remember: I bumped into you over an RSSOwl question

Q: RSSOwl 2.2.1 won't run or install on Ubuntu 18.04

Muaad ElSharifI'm unable to install RSSOwl 2.2.1 since upgrading to Ubuntu 18.04, when trying to install the .deb file I'm faced with Libhunspell 1.3 dependancy (Ubuntu 18.04 uses 1.6), and trying to use the zipped version gives me an error: RSSOwl was unable to create a browser for reading news. Can anyone h...

Ah yes
It works fine for me so I can't really figure out why it doesn't in his case
I don't really use it though so there might be something I'm missing
I confess that I actually use akregator
which is pretty heavily maintained unlike our owl friend
I just use feedly

But interest in kde applications is not always great with ubuntu users
cross platform
web based?
I'm running ubuntu on a spare dated computer with a core 2 duo and a Radeon 65k
And kde seems to run better than gnome
@andrew.46 yes
I am lucky in that I have a full slackware install so even through I don't run kde I can still run its applications
= akregator
feedly looks a bit more fully featured

Q: Mount a WebDAV folder on a production server?

TEOLI have a very simple question. It's my first time working with WebDAV so I don't know if it's stable enough, and I would like to mount a WebDAV folder on my production server, to access the files easily and run some analytic cron jobs on the given files. Do you think it's a good solution on the ...

AFAIK here isn't a solid consensus on whether we support UBports
There has been some discussion on meta

Q: How should we handle new and future questions about Ubuntu Touch?

ZannaRecently I've been wondering whether we need to change our practice in view of the fact that Canonical is no longer developing Ubuntu Touch. As far as I know Ubuntu Touch is still out there running on many devices and is still installable; until it becomes officially EOL (at the end of the suppor...

it seems to me that the majority of folk here have no appetite for the task of dealing with questions about UBports or whatever else UT forked into, probably because the current situation is a bit confusing and there aren't many of us who use this software. Ubuntu Touch questions usually weren't received very well before Canonical dropped UT for that reason
but there is definitely a group of people here who are interested in UBports and suchlike and would like to see and answer questions about it

Q: Is UBPorts within the scope of AskUbuntu?

AkivaI have this question here: Does SECURE BOOT need to be disabled on the Nexus 5 before I can install UBPort's Ubuntu Phone Image? I subsequently created new tags for UBPorts, and one of its core devices, the Nexus-5 Question is: Is UBPorts within the scope of AskUbuntu? And to that, Is U...

A: How should we handle new and future questions about Ubuntu Touch?

Thomas WardThis is my opinion, and not a statement of policy as a member of the moderator team. I believe that we should treat new and future Ubuntu Touch questions as we would End of Life release questions, or come end of 2017 consider it unsupported anymore, for the same reason. As with anything that go...

Close as EOL.
@Rinzwind I chimed in too on the other one. I think I upset Dobie a little, but I didn't mean to.

This question is giving me the headaches: askubuntu.com/questions/1059474/…

30 deg C at 9pm, I don't think I ever experienced that...
@SebastianStark your answer is fine, just leave it as it is, I think OP should realise there is no better answer to their question
I think he thinks he knows better.
And there is nothing one can do about it.
@SebastianStark Don't you remember 2003?
2003 brain cells burnt away already, no
@PerlDuck that was in August
@PerlDuck we could still get there!
@SebastianStark LOL. Yes, that's true. I remember driving back to Germany from the Dutch coast and couldn't believe the thermometer in the car climbed up to 39°C during the ride. I thought it's broken until I opened a window to probe.
19:16
and closed it quickly I guess, because it felt like a hair dryer
Exactly. At that time I had a car with a really great A/C designed to work in Death Valley or Dubai, so I didn't notice until I stepped out.
I made the big mistake today to drive to work on bike
I was dead on the way back
I need that stuff the tour de france guys take
steroids?
Always remember: “The light that burns twice as bright, burns half as long!” -- Blade Runner

I ran out of caipirinha
@PerlDuck that doesn't take into account that you can bundle light :)

Anybody has experience setting up a Neverwinter Nights game server?
Today I read on www.spiegel.de (German news magazine) that Ubuntu has problems with Wifi since 16.04 and people with older hardware more and more suffer from that.
Indeed I noticed many questions about "Wifi gone, Wifi doesn't recognize my adapter, etc" recently.
However. I'll leave for today. A good night to all.
