@wisemonkey - Very cool images
@LuisAlvarado thanks :)
Gonna try gnome 3 when 12.04 comes out. Just to see that. Looks like futuristic stuff
just got bored with previous UI so saturday is all about changing it
hey nice idea. Changing every week.
21:12
Is that Gnome3 or unity? It looks like unity to me
Can anybody help me with ubuntu membership I am trying to find testimonials and any help I can get. Right now I "think" i finished the wiki: wiki.ubuntu.com/luisalvarado but at the end it needs testimonials I think from members only.
gnome
and not every saturday more like once a month :P
it is gnome because of the top panel and right screens showing.
@LuisAlvarado wat kinda testimonial u r looking for?
But last time I tried gnome3 I quickly jumped to unity again. Gonna try it when 12.04 is finished just to see how it feels.
21:14
surely takes some time to get used to
and get watever u want
@wisemonkey - I am thinking "Yes this guy helps the community in askubuntu" stuff like that, although I might be wrong. It just says Show us some testimonials.
I can do that, took 2 days to get the hang of unity from gnome classic.
I am guessing a day with gnome3 should be enough
is not like trying to paint in gimp when you are coming from mspaint hehe
hahaha
@wisemonkey how is the resource usage on gnome3 right now
sorry gnome shell but for me gnome3 = gnome shell in terms of what is one saying when someone says "i am using gnome3"
21:19
its pretty good for me
will paste top if I can

ohh I thought my internet is acting up
been trying to login for a while
somehow I can read it. I have seen so many top pastes that I can tell which column is which
think i should see the sunlight a little more
sunlight? we don't need not vitamins D and K ;)
thats better then sorry I'm not much used to paste terminal output -- I mostly keep uploading screenshots
21:22
@aking1012 lollll
@aking1012 You do know what happens if you take too much vitamin D and K
supposedly depression and weight gain
you turn into a Death Knight (DK) and start doing Death Grip on everybody
whoa I like it then
@LuisAlvarado I almost want to star that
yeah I have seen some fat depressing DK. They look pale!
@wisemonkey for what I can see gnome is using a lot more than unity. does it still feel snappy and fast?
21:33
feels pretty good
sorry had to restart
either unity or gnome-shell I keep putting stuff and making it go slower
yes I understand
I always install mysql, apache, php
habit

fck it, lets not discriminate \o/ wave with both
22:46
/o\ i fear change
You always make me laugh lp
I am to please sir.
hey guys
I have a question about something fairly simple and easy to answer
@AlexPoulos state the nature of your medical emergency
@lazyPower if you want me to unstar that, tell me quick
23:01
o/ hi5
the only thing I'll say about the lensetoggle thing I promise I found a better way to do it, so now I don't rename .lens files resulting in non-fatal crashes
brb...just dist-updgrad-ed 12.04. I think they accidentally fixed a bug I filed, but I need to test to confirm with absolute latest updates
if anyone could help me with this: askubuntu.com/questions/122129/…
I'd be eternally grateful
23:17
@Shazzner You might want to add what video driver you are using, not just that it's the open source one
I personally, for example, could test with the open ATI driver or the open nvidia driver. I cannot, however, test for the intel driver.
\o/ - the bug seems to have been fixed without ever having been assigned :)
sorry
it should be the nivida driver
open source nvid driver
so noveau, okay. THAT I can test
do consider editing the question. someone else might have a fix laying about though
I'm running back and forth testing it, will edit in a sec don't worry :)

@aking1012 tried doing xrandr -output VGA1 --primary
no go
Okay, it was worth a shot

I was like: wut, omg something is eating away all my system's memory! Then I closed Firefox...
I think that's a wat not a wut
@Shazzner Sorry, I'm using 12.04 and it appears to default to dual monitors separate desktops with the noveau driver.
@aking1012 so, you're saying if I install 12.04 it will work?
as well as external set to primary. let me reboot to test, but it really seems that way to me. it also automatically toggled. I'm not necessarily recommending a switch to 12.04(that's not allowed because it's still in beta). I AM saying that it appears to work properly for me in 12.04.
23:49
@aking1012 hey if it's an option I'll take it, I can't even imagine what my blood pressure is at the moment
also is install openssh_server interactive? I can't seem to install it :(
Okay, so after a reboot, cloned desktops is the default. If you plug in the monitor while running, it appears to separate it to separate X sessions by default. Just putting that out there
let me check the openssh install. I might have it already installed, so I have to check
@aking1012 I do too, I can't remember if it asks you for some passwords or something
I'm going to start burning 12.04
sudo apt-get install -y openssh-server produced no prompts
again, this is on 12.04 - 11.10 might be different
huh ok, thanks
@Shazzner by default there would be a sudo password prompt in there
23:57
@aking1012 gotcha, thanks
I think I'm going to nuke it and install 12.04
np. hope you get it sorted out
thanks :)
