@wisemonkey its fairly straight forward to setup
@lazyPower I'm going to have hardly around 5 mail ids and that machine is OCed to 3.8GHz quad core with 16GB of RAM
then you'll have no issues with it.
so u think just following the link would be good?
looking it over, give me a moment
though I'm gonna use centOS vm to run it -- couldn't get kolab running on ubuntu :( and sure I'm in no hurry
00:02
Actually yeah.. its fairly comprehensive for a cursory setup.
nice :)
You can extend spam assassin with quite a few rule chains and training extensions.
will start with the tutorial then as requirement comes in will keep adding stuff
thanks :)
how do I save this chat for future reference?
00:04
go to transcript
at the top of the message list
that or just bookmark the link
or copy/paste with vim
or ask William to necromance the messages for you cuz he's kinda awesome like that
right @William?
done saved :) thanks @William
:)
+1 for "he's awesome like that"
stopped bookmarking links after I had so many that I don't look at them anymore :P
man I was eyeing lenovo ideapad yoga as next upgrade they announced price to be around 2k $ :'(
too rich for my blood
00:10
way toooo much
I was going to buy it with Windows even I won't ever use it just cause it has some awesome features but not anymore as it seems :-/
You could take that money and get some really sick hardware elsewhere...
the beauty of Ubuntu. Offering up free junk since 2004, so you can spend all your monies on hardware and SASS
thats my point I won't be buying it anymore however I'm still looking for ultrabook
as of now zareason and system76 have none
I may try asking companies if they can refund me license fees if I don't want
pangolin is real good
though I've big-huge PC at home laptop mostly for travel

That too
Infinite 1-up for 99 lives on mario bros the original at like stage 1
and the warp to world 9 from Level 1 Stage 2
I don't think it was direct...IIRC it was two stage, one to 4-6 and a further to 9
Thats if you ran all the way to the far end of the underworld
midway there was a vine block that you could take to warp directly to world 9
I thought that was on 3-4, but I could be mistaken
it may be
its been a while
it appears its 4-2
01:13
This is the set I was thinking of, 1-2 to 4, 4-2 to 9 gamespot.com/super-mario-bros/cheats

I can understand not wanting to tell them how to fix it, but you really shouldn't give out misinformation. It's not fair to the user who might actually want to learn, but perhaps has poor English language skills or something. Better to say nothing, I think. Nobody is forcing you to answer, after all. — Marty Fried 3 mins ago
breathes heavily
DO you think I held my tounge well?
@William I started doing something like this: askubuntu.com/questions/121263/… and just saying it's complicated.
:)
I never gave out misinformation, but the OP gave me almost nothing to work off of.
Honestly take a look at the other answers on that question.
I quote:

A: Failure to Boot

user37805I had the same error. Never got Ubuntu working. Since 9.04 to 11.04. However Fedora worked fine for me.

I switched to fedora is less than useful
Case in point.
Anyway, was kind of cheezed off when said user yelled at me instead of Fedora.
It happens, I walk away from stuff all the time.
01:32
Still, this is not one of the quality of my answer, but the nerve of said user :)
Users will be users. Let it go.
It's like someone saying "Ubuntu broke my computer". No, it didn't. Let it go and move on.
@aking1012 ubuntu broke my desire to work with other platforms.. does that count?
u 2 funny lazypower
@lazyPower you do any custom packaging?
u gusta-ed
01:38
Do i maintain any packages? nope. I'm working on that charm as i get time
I'm looking for some feedback on this option: easy-deb.sourceforge.net but I can't find anyone that has tried it. Seems like a DANGER indicator, but it's too interesting not to try
How charming.

@aking1012 Danger.
Honestly its easy to make RPM's, and i've used alien to convert RPMS to debs in the past
Jan 28 '11 at 22:21, by Roland Taylor
trust me, these creatures are way worse than aliens :)
I never had much luck with rpm, but I started there before I knew anything -- so it could have been general ignorance instead of difficulty
01:41
@lazyPower StackApplet wouldn't have RPMs if it weren't for alien :P
God bless you, alien.
that cat is awesome
It doesn't have a little teardrop. I think it's no more than 6%

Just thought I'd mention that.
03:07
@GeorgeEdison Opera is just horribly broke in general...
The one nice thing about it is smooth scrolling.

I locked the screen, left for awhile, came back and started up chrome....all my settings, history were gone.
I have all my really important files backed up at least.
Guess I'll install 12.04 beta 2. No point in restoring everything when I have no idea what caused it.
03:33
i think the https port is unblocked. For now. That is good news. :)

09:56
I see.
Is it snarky when someone puts in a bounty reason "Looking for an answer drawing from credible and/or official sources."?
It is perfectly fine. You are telling people to have references and things like that.
The question wasn't complicated at all. It was asking how to set normal compiler arguments in eclipse-cdt
Just made me smh

Q: Logging in with google account credentials?

Amith KKI's it possible to login with google account credentials like in ChromeOS from gdm? If so, how?

Bounty this. I dare you :P

Until there's an Oauth pam module it's not happening. That's how you would do it though.

How to customize the looks of GRUB in Ubuntu?
thanks @aking1012
Yeah, just search for background on that page
got it
good deal
11:05
I hear the word Zeitgeist in Ubuntu?? What is that??
It's the thing that tracks your file access/urls/etc
Filesystem watcher?? haa??
Is there any way to know the file operation history?
Some of the lenses don't use it, they just list folders(music and video for example). And there's a UI to turn it off now
UI to turn it off!!
?
enter privacy in dash
11:10
Got it...
It is just like enabling or disabling Private browsing in Firefox..right?
There firefox....Here it is Ubuntu OS!!
Something like that. It's useful for a lot of users though.
I tried ln -s /dev/null ~/whatever/activity.sqlite ... did not work out well. There's an interface for it now. Working on one to toggle lenses so you can keep the history if you find it useful, but turn lenses on and off.
11:25
I saw a new application called "Management service" with the icon of the Canonical Logo. What is that?
It is landscape
I guess it is landscape.
Landscape??
If you run it there's a link to a page that explains it
The part that reads "find out more..."
hi @jrg
jrg
jrg
Yeah, landscape.
Bold move on Canonical's part to do that without community input. Or I'm just on all the wrong mailing lists.
Howdy @aking1012.
I got thrown out of Ask Ubuntu. it got blocked for a minute. :@
Lucky it sorted itself out.
jrg
jrg
11:29
@jokerdino dude, you're in trouble with this whole thing. HTTPS still blocked?
They fixed the HTTPS mess.
I had a little chat with my teacher yesterday.
I told him I can't even check my email!!
And then, they removed the block in the HTTPS port.
@jrg It looks interesting, but I think of it as two separate things. Canonical being the commercial branch that comes out with enterprise type tools and Ubuntu for DIY-ers. It could be a misconception, but I like that arrangement more than some others I've seen.
jrg
jrg
Are you familiar @aking1012 with "spacewalk"?
I am not
jrg
jrg
its Red Hat's RHEL management tool, open sourced.
I want spacewalk, but with better debian support.
And landscape is like that, except it isn't because I have to pay lots 'o money for it.
11:35
For some reason, I didn't have Landscape installed in my computer.
@jrg Ahhh. Sounds like a project someone is going to clone and put on github ;)
jrg
jrg
They were this close to it.
jrg
jrg
Someone was on kickstarter trying to make a landscape/spacewalk alternative.
jrg
jrg
11:37
Still @jokerdino?!
Someone is messing with the web filter at this very point of time. :/
@jokerdino You need a ham radio and an acoustic modem
LOL. that was funny.
I am bored of all these network problems.
I might start my own ISP one day.
Get up with the CCC guys, they were trying to piece together a satellite network
http://askubuntu.com/q/121637/45659
Something strange here.. can anyone help?
11:45
reverse scroll?
Clean your trackpad
If there's something on the bottom of the scroll area, when you touch somewhere else it can read that as a touch on the scroll down part
jrg
jrg
Yeah, clean the trackpad.
well, i'm not the OP. i just wanted to draw attention to it.. :)
@jrg I hadn't seen kickstarter. Gun.IO is kind of the same thing
Is there SOME debian support in spacewalk? and what is it written in?
Put your packaging skills to full use :)
11:50
Confused with http://X.ORG version number http://askubuntu.com/questions/121636/confused-with-x-org-version-number?atw=1 #xorg
@QuestionsFeed x.org is linked?
yes it is
not in the question though...it interpreted that as a url
It probably has to do with Twitter.
jrg
jrg
@aking1012 There is some debian support.
and i'm not sure what its written in
I was hoping something simple like a bunch of python scripts that parse conf and scrape command output
Probably wishful thinking
11:55
Hi @gajdipajti How are you?
Fine, thanks.
jrg
jrg
Wow, spacewalk's git clone is the second longest I've ever done. The longest was the clone of ruby.
I browsed a couple diffs, and they were shell scripts, so I'm hopeful
Did you see someone compiled ruby 1.9 with tcmalloc?
jrg
jrg
Yeah, in a PPA iirc.
