@NathanOsman did I tell you the store decided not to use my website? I'm trying to refactor it for someone else, that works in the same area, which apparently is willing to make a deal on it
they actually said they liked it, but that it was easier for them to add pictures on a Wix website they were working on
I could make a PHP page to add pictures on the page, but I was thinking this was leading anywhere, so I decided to not have this extra work for the small chance they would take it, and for free
I need to delete some files using Gutmann method
Deleting files using
srm -rvz took for me more than 16 hours and after that I canceled it.
After that I do a test
I tried to delete a 5GB file using wipe. It took ~8hours for 2 passes and ETA was 6days.
In Windows using eraser and Gutmann method...
I have an Ubuntu 16 server running as a VM on my PC. I already have a number of websites running on it without any problem. The default Apache website is fine. I have installed a product called otrs (http://www.otrs.com) and did not encounter any errors. However, when I try to browse to the w...
I need to mount a samba share directory on Ubuntu1604. Although the samba share directory(served by a Ubuntu1204 machine) has no password protection, the mount command still prompts the password hint:

I am stuck in a messy situation where I should install an environment with the "ptpd" time-service. Now my problem is that my ptpd-server is running on Ubuntu 16.04 which serves the newest ptpd-version 3.2.1 by default. But all my clients are running on Ubuntu 14.04 which serves ptpd-version 2.2....
I have a fresh install of ubuntu 16.04 on a razer stealth rz09 with nvidia gtx1060 gpu (this gpu being the reason i got the machine). The system freezes often upon login, with both the current and previous kernels. If I use one of the grub options to do a dpkg repair occasionally I am able to b...
I've downloaded the LiveGNOME iso for CentOS 7 and use rufus to make CentOS 7 live-USB that I can boot a centos 7 with it.
But after I boot it I've set up some settings, then I shut down it, later I boot it again, and I found out **all the settings and data are reset ** I can't believe it, so I ...
For my task, I need to block some hostnames, but since some websites may reply with different IP addresses to different DNS queries (for example, Google DNS and any other DNS server), I'd like to resolve same hostname using different DNS servers to get as many possible IP addresses as possible.

To estract a single .Z file from a given folder I use uncompress file.Z in a terminal and it works flawlessy. If, in the same folder, I want to extract all the .Z files I use uncompress "*.Z" or uncompress '*.Z' or uncompress \*.Z. But they all give the same error:

Hey web designers, I'm working on a css framework: https://github.com/rolandixor/anole
You can take a look, and let me know what you think. Demo is here: https://rolandixor.pro/anole
Please note that it's not fully responsive (yet)!
it works perfectly, with the exception of opening tabs :)
I'm actually trying to get Patheon-Terminal to do the same thing now. I can get it to open the command, of course, but getting into open tabs as well is the issue.
@Videonauth the extra-wide button is actually just a regular button lol, I have changed it on another page of the demo that isn't linked from the main page.
one of the challenges is that you can't control certain things with CSS without making it overly complicated (if at all).
For instance, I could use CSS animations (as opposed to transitions) to get the sub-menus to hide until the main menu is visible, but it would be very complex (thus hard to maintain) and it might not show up as smoothly as it does now. Too bad for people with shaky hands like me lol
Okay I've update the animation speed for the offenders.
Brutalized is a little strong. 100 games/70 something draws/20 something wins/0 losses is something that could never happen between two similarly ranked humans.
What was most useful for me was chess advantage in black and white for openings, chess tactics for champions from the polgar daughter, and 10001 chess problems for endgame. If they let it run three engines, it would be ABSURD.
If you're a newer player, it covers skewers forks and all those other mid-game tricks. If you never had formal chess education, it's highly useful. If someone taught you those, then you might find it less useful.
Oddly, I don't remember it covering center-court advantage, but everyone knows that... and alpha already knows it.
After the update to 17.10 from 17.04, Every time I'm facing this issue. Suddenly my laptop stops working and I have no access on it. Even I can't open Terminal control system (alt+ctrl+f3) and I'm left with force close of system in this condition.
Generally while using VLC I'm facing this error o...
I haven't played in a long time for lack of even ground opponents locally. You either find people you tear apart, or people that decimate you. It's hard to find real life players where it's a one is slightly better than the other, which is what you need for a learning experience.
@IanC It's aimed at people who know how the pieces move, can play a game, can not get themselves murdered during the opening, and have a grasp of end-game forcing.
Had an interesting one about 10 years ago where the guy on a bookstore patio said "You did not just play the blitzkrieg opening against me" on our first game. Then the game went on about 40 turns longer than he expected. It was fun.
I got one (whose title I don't remember at the moment, unfortunately, but I can look it up when I get home if anyone cares) recently I'm very pleased with. It's aimed at all levels (you just skip the bits you know) from beginner to IM, very well written and very informative. I'm enjoying it immensely.
Some idiot played that against me the summer I just learned chess. Such a petty thing to do to a newbie. Anyone who's been playing for even a few months and falls for it, deserves it, but there's no point doing it against a noob!
I'm trying to make my Ubuntu subsystem in Windows 10 look like the actual Ubuntu terminal. I followed this guide, and now I'm off to a good start.
It's almost perfect, but whenever I use the ls command, directories are automatically highlighted in an ugly green color. Here's a picture:

@IanC The opponent can gain board control of the center, and you sacrifice almost all pawn movement for a hard and fast attack while their pieces are constrained. So, once they open up the board, you only have 2 pieces and pawns in play. So, it's hard.
@RobotHumans I'm trying to find the name of an opening that resulted in checkmate if the opponent decided to capture the white queen, it was a cool play because most of black responses were apparently tactically good except for the queen capturing
@IanC I expect something like that will come up in the unreleased alphazero games. Like a whittle down queen capture, where it systemically removed the most high value pieces sacrificing whatever it has to, to keep either a knight and a rook or knight and bishop... or even two bishops if it's pawn light to dance around the board mopping the floor even though it accepted an early disadvantage.
I think sacrificing a queen is usually a really effective way to pull the opponent into a trap, I was reading that many big games with chess masters had big turnouts on queen sacrifices
@RobotHumans Of course. But it's really interesting how it didn't even occur to you (well, it didn't to me, anyway) that it could have been that. Just shows how we get stuck in a way of thought.
If you're Carlsen or something, you might have found it given that you knew that there was a mate in one.
that's true. the lead in move tells you to remove the pawn though.
either way, my playstyle is to continue removing material instead of looking for really hard mates, which is where alpha could really shine if it went the other way.
@Seth I did not. Some of them are obvious bots, but I suspect at least some of them are human. It would be an interesting ML game. Trying to teach a robot to have a sense of humor.
