I know it was never removed because I wasn't blindly upvoting. I was upvoting some of the questions and other competing answers as well. :P
lol, smart bastard ;)
@OctavianDamiean oi o/
10:10
Do we have a question about how to find the graphic card driver currently in use?
@bruno who deleted those answers?
I got back my -2 rep. Hah!
@octavianD I don't quite remember seeing one.
@OctavianDamiean lshw -C display should show you that
in the configuration line should say driver: <somethinkg>
@jokerdino me ... if you are talking about the spam questions.
Ah, yes. Those answers.
@BrunoPereira Thanks, the interesting thing is that lshw seems to be broken on my system. o_O
10:24
Those with the super long flag messages, yeah.
It lists everything on the same line overwriting the previous entry.
Perhaps pipe it to a text file?
Yea, I'll try that.
Nope.
That is really odd.
Oli
Oli
@OctavianDamiean Sounds like the terminal is broken. Try a reset (as in run reset in a terminal, don't reboot the computer, or adjust your television)
:O
Interesting, that kinda worked. :)
10:32
Oli to the rescue.
Nah, adjusting my television didn't do the trick. I've even tried position the cat half a meter to another location just in case. :D
She wasn't that happy.
10:44
Time for dinner. Catch you all later.

jrg
jrg
@jokerdino Yes and no.
We were going to have an official contest - and we are.
However, some of you guys were a little more energetic than the others, and really went bonkers with the cleanup tool before it was a contest.
So we are rewarding that, since the numbers speak for themselves imo.

@jrg hey I have tons of ubuntu stuff, you can send my prize to the next person on the list
@JorgeCastro You can offer it to your next of kin or a friend or what ever, is that an option or your decided that you really dont want to have it?
just give it to cleanup person #11 or something
I'd rather have a community member get it. :)
@jokerdino My gravatar makes me feel clean and unobtrusive.
@BrunoPereira -^
@JorgeCastro Might recognize that T-Shirt design. heh
13:44
LOL?
That happens when you are bored and land on Spreadshirt.

Bug?
Don't think so.
More like troubleshooting.
@AmithKK yes it is - throw it into the Ubuntu Regulators room for closure.
@AmithKK possible bug - but still abandoned - the OP hasnt logged in for more than 3 months.
You have to throw it in there for it to be closed?
why not just close it?

A: Sound doesn't work on a Dell Vostro 3400, shows up as unclaimed

Amith KKIt seems that your kernel does not recognise your soundcard Try the following command and reboot sudo apt-get install linux-backports-modules-generic Sources: http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-763241.html

I don't know what to say. You people are following the books way too religiously..
... trust me - I would close it... but I'll get bounced upon by the seniors.

.... fostering a community spirit and working together .... all that jazz.
14:25
It sounds nice on paper and pretty much that's it.
... you have a close vote ... just need 2 others for us to close.
I exercised mine already.
Like just a while ago.
And, I have my own mini rules that I consider for calling a question abandoned.
Oh wait I haven't answered that question yet.

Q: List of modem vendors supporting plug and play

callmegusI have tried 2 modems vendors, ZTE (both GSM and CDMA) and PROLINK (GSM). Are there others?

Listy?
@amith your next stop is getting 3k.
@jokerdino Yep
14:33
@NN you can add cleanup, just dont remove featured. Its not a cleanup post, its a featured swag give away
@AmithKK yes ... bad list - and has been closed.

@BrunoPereira I did not remove , see meta.askubuntu.com/posts/2853/revisions which shows that I only added a tag.
@NN You cant remove it
its a moderator tag
14:46
@AmithKK That makes the comment even more confusing.
i.e. being accused for something I did not do nor could have done.
I second that.
I can't do anything with the featured tag.
@BrunoPereira :|
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.com
Ok, that is not really a site.
My problem is I lost my #8 in this quarter....

Q: What positive changes will NVIDIA support to Linux release?

JhonnytunesI've recently heard about NVIDIA is joining the Linux Foundation. I just tought, well here comes full functioning NVIDIA Drivers. My card is a G210M, and I have graphic acceleration, glxgears echoes 2400 fps. GTK benchamark doesnt go that well (GTKPerf show slow results). Everithing is fine, but ...

This is blasphemy.
Not sure that question belongs on the normal askubuntu site -- more of an opinion than a question...
15:16
Off topic / not constructive.
@cprofitt You can flag these questions as such.
@jrg'ssockpuppet you are dead.
I did flag it a while ago -- as offtopic
actually -- not really a question was the flag I used...
I see. I have cast my close on the question. We need another 2 more votes for it to be closed.
@BrunoPereira It's ok. I just wanted to clear it because I did nothing wrong. I was confused because I really try sort out tags on meta. Tagging questions properly seems to be a neglected practice on meta, sometimes there are questions tagged only from which you can infer barely nothing of the questions content. I think we should pay some attentions to tags on meta so that the content is manageable and searchable, especially for the future as the content grows.
it is not only meta, actually.
@jokerdino Maybe that is something we should focus on to make the content of AU more manageable?
15:28
I was thinking about this quite some time ago and then I forgot about it.
You just reminded me again.
The tags are more important for questions that are already answered than that aren't yet.
thanks @jokerdino
@jokerdino Have you got some more or less formulated thoughts on the issue?
Haven't spent much time. Just the basic framework.
You can start a meta post, I will chip in later on.
@jokerdino ok, will make a note. not sure when I write it. can only write with one hand for now so it takes ages to write
ah, urggh
i will spare you the pain. i will get a meta post up this saturday.
adds it to his list of stuff to do on Getting things Gnome.
I really want to learn how to use task-warrior.
If only I had a crash course for it. :)
15:45
@jokerdino Here is some advantages of good tagging from the top of my head: easier to compare similar questions (e.g. find dupes), easier to find what interests you (e.g. search for unanswered questioms of tags of ypu expertise), less chance that good advice gets lost in the noise (if a question only has one tag but there are two more fitting tags people only browsing the latter will miss that question).
That covers pretty much it.
we could perhaps create a tag-wiki community around the tag.
You mean for ?

Q: Can't fix broken packages

AWEI am too dumb but determined to use Ubuntu that I paid a professional to install it for me (dualboot 11.10 with Win7). When I came home I got a lot of things from the software center. Skype did not have a download button so I googled it and Ubuntu help told me to do this: sudo add-apt-repository...

against all odds - The terminal told me "that this is potentially harmful..." but I thought it was Ubuntu language meaning "are you sure?"
He broke it
