Sometimes PHP's naming conventions have me scratching my head.
3
- Does sort() sort an array by keys? Nope - use ksort() for that.
- Guess what strreplace() does - nothing! That's because it's named str_replace(). But is str_pos() a function? Nope - it's strpos()!
Sorry, I'm in C++ mode for the moment. I got a msg from someone that wants me to keep working on some defcon/blackhat stuff. If it gets accepted it will be a joke to some level of epicness
I've got the json post starred and partially examined though
Oh, no hurry - it was more or less just an idea I was putting down on paper (digital paper).
I really like it. Hope it works out and I will def give it a look
I just have a really divided attention related to the not quite employed thing

Ugh, another answer along the lines of "give up and switch to distro X instead." Those are kind of a pet peeve of mine. askubuntu.com/a/116323/18612
Admittedly, it's the OP's answer to their own question, but still...

A: Unity-2D uses old gnome style application switcher

jokerdinoUnity-2D has always been using the old style application switcher. Only Unity has the newly styled application switcher. The behaviour you are currently experiencing is intended and is not a bug. So, you don't need to fret too much about it.

Am I not right?
For some reason, I feel I might not be too right.

Ondina? :o
Ondina is a server company by our Ask Ubuntu moderator Marco Ceppi.

That might not be accurate but should give you a basic idea.
I see :)
ondina.co is the correct site then, I assume?

Yeah, its my latest rubycast.
You have shell access and stuff with that?

Yeah

so you do vagrant ssh and it'll do all the fancy ssh stuff for you and BOOM. you have ssh access.

what routing should be done (sensible, not possible)

or is that really the best
Oli
Oli
@rlemon I've always been a fan of rolling my own (and I'm a WP hater).
blog.com/posts/<slug> // get post by slug
blog.com/posts/all // get all posts
blog.com/archive/<year>/<month?>/<day?> // filter based on timestamp
blog.com/category/<category-name>/ // filter based on category
blog.com/tag/<tag-name>/ // filter based on tag
I am rolling my own, but I need to know what makes sense uri wise (routing)
Oli
Oli
Categories and tags?
15:13
yes
jrg
jrg
I just do tags. Makes more sense.
They are different, aren't they?
jrg
jrg
Different but related.
I take that categories are topics and tags are about the post.
Oli
Oli
Yeah they're different (taxonomical vs folksonomical) but I've never found a proper reason for both. Tags can handle everything.
15:14
I might have 15 posts in Development category, then I can further organize them with my tags
tags can handle everything. But only if you use them like categories
Well, it just comes down to personal preferences, I think.
so why not just have both.
anyways - does that uri routing make sense?
It pretty much does.
Oli
Oli
Well no, you're talking about using categories like tags. Categories in their full sense tend to be a big nested nonsense.
Sorry I'm ignoring the question. I'll drop this t-vs-c silliness.
jrg
jrg
I do use categories to divide planet.u.c posts with other things, but thats only because my tags don't have RSS. shuts up
15:17
I kind of like the categories vs tags distinction. It could thin out something like "development","rant","products_i_like" without tagging anything as "rant". I like it, but it seems I am in the minority. /end
Why stop yet?
Oli
Oli
I'd drop /posts and use /archive/ instead of /posts/all/ and just have /<slug>/ for posts.
Or actually, what's the point in /archive/? Surely / is showing a paged list of all the posts.

/year/
/year/month/

/year/month/day/slug/

And on any of those (except the last) allow multiple tag|category=.../ appendices eg /2012/02/tag=pies/category=food/
That's fairly safe as URL structures go (safer than allowing /slug/) and lets people easily browse around only using the URL.

Hi
Does anybody know if the AMD Bulldozer perform better with Ubuntu than the published benchmarks on Windows suggest?
Intel Sandybridge is obviously much better in terms of single-core performance.
I have no idea. I do like the concept of Bulldozer though. I just don't trust it in practice yet.
My hardware smells old, needs a replacement.
I like the AMD pricing... ;)
(and I like the idea of having 6 to 8 cores for my VMs)
Me too. I'ld stick with the 6-core AMD Black editions for a while though...Bulldozer just isn't proven enough for me
18:59
All benchmarks I saw was for Windows games that run on a single core mostly.
