Q: How to setup type 1 hypervisor on Ubuntu

JosephI'm asking here because Google is coming up with a lot of information (information overload) and I am getting quite lost. I have setup a Ubuntu 16 server using only 60gb of the primary 1tb partition. I would like to run several more Ubuntu VM's on this server and have then use their own partiti...

Q: Should I try to get rid of "Inappropriate ioctl for device" in strace output for a Bash script?

tomasI'm using strace with this code: #!/usr/bin/env bash exec 0<test.log while IFS= read -r line; do printf "%s\n" "$line" done (The straight <test.log redirection gives the same result.) I'm getting this error for each read line: ioctl(0, TCGETS, 0x7fff1e645d50) = -1 ENOTTY (Inappro...

@Avery inaccurate
there are far to few wires on that desk
assume it's an imac
or just an AIO
wheres the mouse wires and the other two monitors though
it's a comic.
@TheWanderer Who uses wired mice in this day and age?
@terdon me
15:18
Really? Why?
Bluetooth is a hassle
Ah, gaming, I guess.
that too
Why bluetooth? I just have a nice little usb receiver. Might work over bluetooth, dunno. All I know is you plug it in and it works. Even in the BIOS. No hassle whatsoever.
right those do exist
15:20
I don't think I've had a wired mouse this decade, actually.
but then you forget the dongle when you transfer the mouse..
I should get a bluetooth mouse.
@TheWanderer transfer the mouse?
to another computer or house
@TheWanderer Serves you right. If you transfer the mouse, you transfer the dongle. If you thought you could just take it and have it work on another computer, that's your problem :P
you forget it isn't Bluetooth
15:21
I got used to it
I like the MS mice because they can actually switch between dongle and BT mode
@TheWanderer I guess. I've never used a bluetooth mouse so it's not something that would happen to me.
but you can't forget the wire on your wired mouse
but wires can break
get tangly
use too much space
@TheWanderer No, but I kept getting the damn thing tangled up.
15:21
not be usable on all place etc
@Avery I have a nice braided wire
and I abuse this thing
stuff it in a computer bag, pull on the wire to get it out
I used to have a mouse with a braided wire
it broke after a year and a half
I have wireless ones that are years old that are still good
remember those Dell mice from when Dell was still good?
in a completely unrelated note, I really like how Kotlin infers variable types
and for loops are pretty cool too
for (i in 0..4)
@TheWanderer Ha! Taken from Perl, of course :P

Hello everybody :)
15:32
o/
can't do Android in Perl though
15:42
@TheWanderer Nah, I was just pointing out that that syntax (almost) also works in Perl. But it works in all sorts of languages. Even the shell:
$ for i in {0..4}; do echo $i; done

But why can't you do Perl on Android?
I mean make apps
Kotlin actually reminds me a lot of JS
@TheWanderer So what do you need to make apps?
Java
and Android Studio
technically you can use C++, but that's not supported by Google
Ah, so all (or most anyway) Android apps are written in Java?
yesh
Kotlin uses the Java compiler
it's just a new syntax
15:52
@terdon you can use python too so why not perl?
Rinzy ! :)
boxy!

Jacky ! :D
15:58
@Rinzwind That's what I thought, but TheWanderer seems to be saying otherwise.
oh goody
goody? who's that
I've just decided to implement ContentOberservers in Smali
@Rinzwind you can use Perl in Android, but not to make an app
well it is a start :=)

Q: Can I develop Android applications in Perl?

AndreasI know that I can run Perl on Android, but I'm looking to write an app that can be released on Google Play, for anyone to download and run. Is Perl still a viable choice?

are you sure?
16:00
@Rinzwind that's not native execution though
that's hacky wrappers and such
so? >:=D
@Rinzwind Cool!
@TheWanderer Isn't that what Kotlin is also?
you had to ask it hmm :P

1 hour later…
17:26
@terdon no, Kotlin is Java on the compiler side. It's just a different syntax.
