@amithkk Several reasons, including my need for a fedora-like VM for a project, just for fun and my need to look at a single library path.
Lame reasons all, but they are good together. Sorta.

Q: Linux crashing my DD-WRT router

Mike SchallI'll start off that I'm new to Linux. A couple months ago I tried installing Ubuntu 11.10 on a laptop (HP). The install went great, however when setting up my wireless network, it caused my router (Buffalo) to crash. I could not login to the routers http interface even on a wired PC. I remove...

15:43
It works!

This is the default web page for this server.

The web server software is running but no content has been added, yet.
:D
15:58
Anybody else gettiing this always?
@htorque Serious? @MarcoCeppi can move a server in the fraction of that time
@AmithKK I own the servers though, OMG Ubuntu doesnt :(
@MarcoCeppi They Dont?
No, not many people own their own servers
I dont get it. What is there to do? isnt it just tar>scp>profit ?
The server's networking is down, which means tpheir host needs to go to the Datacenter and fix it.
OMG Ubuntu! should have had a better backup process in place, but their host isn't making it easy for them to get back online either
16:02
WebFusion?
I'snt SE running off RackSpace?
No, SE owns their own hardware IIRC

Q: File in Ubuntu equivalent to /etc/inittab file in RedHat

pradeepchhetriI searched a lot but can't get any solution. My question is what file in Ubuntu is equivalent to /etc/inittab file in RedHat. In RedHat /etc/inittab file contains the setting related to runlevel in which you want to boot the linux.

@lazyPower question for you: what would a 5-7 hour (so lets jut call it 1 day) gig for sysadminny type work run?
23:33
depends on what you're doing in teh sysadmin field
if you're working on MS products, you're going to charge starting at base line $60USD an hour
if you're working on something you enjoy, i'd start at circa 45 if not 40
come join us on G+ on a hangout with no purpose
@RolandTaylor The StackTack plugin for WordPress is in the review queue!
@GeorgeEdison sweet :D
@jrg join the dark side!
NAO
i am trying to ask a question but keeps saying the same bug Oops! Your question couldn't be submitted because: It does not meet our quality standards.
what am i doing that shows up that?
@user49523 your question is too short probably, you need to add more detail and information to it.
@tachyons your answer is 100% a copy of the wiki's content askubuntu.com/a/113854/25863
23:47
that was it thanks the question was too short ?
but why is that sometimes a question is only a sentence does not have to do more input
good night all
@htorque gn m8
jrg
jrg
@lazyPower Ok, i'll do $40 then.
no MS stuff with this project, thankfully.
@RolandTaylor Can't, precise borked my webcam and sound.
Those are my rates ;) $40 /hr for unix based admin. MS products start at 60 because i get headaches when i start touching Active Directory and Sharepoint.
jrg
jrg
Hey, I did my last gig at $20/hr and regretted it after I was done in 10 hours. :p
