What's the point of disabling rm and format anyway? Pretty much any command can be dangerous. Consider > /dev/sda or whatever.

COM is a DOS application or a renamed EXE (yes, that actually works).

BAT, well, we all know what that is.

COM files are supposed to be DOS executables without the PE header that Windows applications possess.

I guess they are almost exclusively trying to deal with people saving attachments with their original filename on Windows.

If you rename an EXE to JPG, its default action in Windows becomes harmless.

Well, assuming there are no exploits in the JPG viewer, of course :P
