@Seth Seems do-able with an app.
@NathanOsman yeah several have, but twitters intense API limits sunk most of them iirc
Hmm... yeah.
The limits can be restrictive sometimes.
Unless it ran continuously.
Surely you aren't favoriting tweets faster than it can fetch them from the API :P
@NathanOsman that's not the kind of API limits I was referring to :/
but does anyone remember that video? I feel like the only one that saw it..
Which one?
Oh.
No, I didn't see that one.
:/
00:26
So . . . I am really drowsy right now . . . mostly because I've quit coffee, smoking, and started wearing those blue-screen clip ons
i might get grumpy as well . . . just saying
I am woefully short of sleep as well.
@SergiyKolodyazhnyy It can take a while to get over coffee. Try replacing it with something. Green smoothies maybe.
I feel your pain :D
I just can't get to sleep and then end up sleeping in and not feeling rested.
(On the days that I can sleep in.)
Casey Neistat posited the idea that you can replace limited amount of sleep with exercise. I think he might be right.
I am trying to see if getting more exercise will help.
Lol. Good timing :P
00:29
@Seth I've been chugging gallons of jasmine tea and peppermint tea. It might help, but . . . it's not the same. I really miss the flavor
I'm also cutting back on eating before bed and drinking more.
May 29 at 18:39, by Seth
@Zanna you should try this then http://teeccino.com/. My mom got me to try it, and I think I will try drinking it for a bit (I don't drink coffee). It's an herbal blend designed to replace coffee.
We'll see if that helps.
@NathanOsman might wanna do that as well. I've been eating instant noodles in the middle of the night just out of boredom lately
00:41
@Seth @NathanOsman Install instructions for the Brave browser: github.com/brave/browser-laptop/blob/master/docs/…
Cool.
Does it do better with memory than Chrome?
I imagine the adblocking indirectly helps with that :P
I just installed it but haven't used it yet. I'm expecting good things, though.
I use it on Android. Should really start using it on desktop too.
In fact, I think I have the installer around here somehwere..
Android, eh? I'll need to install that.
Same. I use it on Android almost exclusively now.
00:44
Yep. Only thing I use Chrome on android for anymore is GitHub lol.
The desktop instructions above were perfect on Ubuntu (except curl is not already installed by default)
Someone should package it.
Or snap it.
Although last time I tried snaps they were pretty awful.
(cough) @NathanOsman (cough)
Back from within Brave. Very, very fast on the desktop
I'm pretty busy...
01:12

01:26
Good ol' Murica...
I'm in the US
I am just saying what it says....
just install it manually...
it'll update from the Play Store in the future
whoops...I need to plug my phone in...apparently it is dead...
01:34
@TheWanderer so it isn't available on IOS?
no lol
it's not even functional on Android yet
Then why am I installing it again?
so you can find where it crashes
4 funzies
Well I can't even log in, because I use Google Oauth or whatever it is...
@TheXed yeah I had to set up an SE password too
01:37
How do I do that?
lemme figure it out lol
ok go to stackexchange.com click your username, click My Logins, click Add Login, add an SE login
Do I have to create a SE login first?
that's how you create it
This is a lot of work to log into an app that doesn't even function :-:
well it does everything except read and send messages lol
you can add chats, see the current users, see their info, etc
02:16
Sorry back...
I chose very wrong time for doing the cold turkey stuff
I like cold turkey sandwiches...
mmm, sandwiches
Anyways what are you trying to quit?
Well, the base goal is no smoking, no coffee, and since today no sugar for whole June. And then we'll see
02:26
But...coffee has so many benefits as long as you drink it black...
But I'm kind of regretting it right now. I've work 1 pm to 9 pm. So far lasting till 6 and then starting to get drowsy
And next week I've classes starting
It is 0 calories, 0 fat, and full of nutrients....

Q: error in mounting drive on Ubuntu Mate terminal

frankly, I've no idea what I'm doing
02:45
lol...you need a wife...she will be happy to tell you what you are doing...
@TheXed i have. Problemnis that she's in China, miles away.
I am sure she would still be happy to tell you...

Some people I don't get
Found this while looking though my local craglisting
Who would pay that is beyound me
shrug, maybe some one would, who really needs MS word
Too outdated plus you can download a copy
YOu could even download trail
Better yet, Libraoffice or WPS
That's.. actually a good price.
@Seth You are crazy. It's too outdated. I have used it before just like a month before to try it out again form when it was new in 2006. I pick that vision because I remember ribbon being new. It doesn't even read newer doc files that well anymore and saving to them would just most likely break them.
I just thew away my copy of MS office 2010 just a few days ago.
docx was released with 2007, not 2010.
Also plugins. Also $25.
Office 2010 is currently ~$99 on ebay. So, like I said, good price.
03:21
@Seth I tried 2007. I downloaded it.
I used MS 2016 or 2013 in Wine or a VM
I had no reason to keep 2010. Had no use for it and was quite outdated
Those people are crazy, no one would paid ~100 for 2010.
That has a tech mind
...
Anyways how much do you think I can get for my Nvidia 745 3ddr gb ram card?
I used 2010 for years. Worked great, very stable. Also gets a gold rating in WINE.
That's true
@Seth How much do you think I can get for my nvidia geforce gtx 745 4gb ddr3 card?
no idea
all my machines run intel graphics... :(
03:31
I don't think there are a market for it

Ah good then. No place for rants is always the best!
But that MS-ad-bug is a real show stopper here.
wait, how is it hijacking the entire site? that seems weird
It's a company machine where I can't install any ad blocker.
First I thought it is our admins that block any kinds of redirects. But it only occurs on AU, and only when that Azure campaign is displayed in the ad section.

Hi guys. Do you know of a way to test RAM other than memtest86? It's too much of a hassle to physically remove the module not being tested. I read that "stress" can test ram but I don't know the proper syntax... I just got a used Dell PC from 2009-ish and I wanna make sure the RAM is fine
@H3R3T1K You can type man stress to read the manual page of the command

websites work fine on Windows if you use Chrome
Or firefox or opera or anything other than IE
But isn't IE OK these days? I thought they've been standard compliant for a few releases now.
IE has been discontinued
So many competing browser standards... We should make a new unified one to replace them all...
14:12
Edge or whatever it's called these days
@ByteCommander Before you post the xkcd link, there aren't actually competing standards
It's just that IE (and maybe edge) don't follow the standard.

I would suggest that you completely remove your Nvidia GPU and install only using the Intel graphics, and then reinsert your GPU after the install is done. — Android Dev 2 mins ago
@AndroidDev um. Not really a viable suggestion for someone who's not a dedicated hardware geek :)
How many of your non-technical friends have ever opened their computers?
@terdon "implementations" better? or "interpretations of the standard"?
@terdon He/she's got a 4790k (overclocking edition CPU) and a non-oem motherboard, so I assumed that he/she know their way around a computer
@AndroidDev Fair enough

@SumeetDeshmukh: Hi, just a quick reality check for both of us: can you explain what led you to recommend the deletion on askubuntu.com/review/low-quality-posts/717984?
I voted to keep it because it addresses a potential source of error in the exposition of the question with a straight-forward solution.

walks into the room, sipping virtual coffee, because can't drink real one . . . hey chat, how's it going
YOUR VIRTUAL COFFEE IS TRASH
@KazWolfe for once we agree on something
throws virtual coffee out of the window . . . screams heard down below
@SergiyKolodyazhnyy shleps across the floor in shapeless-blob form, stops next to you, blob forms a tentacle and slaps you for wasting coffee in any form, then slides back to the corner and disappears into the shadows
@ThomasWard It's perfectly acceptable to waste bad coffee.
@SergiyKolodyazhnyy Hey Sergiy, it's going well ! :D How's it going for you ? :)
17:26
Jokes on you Thomas, I'm into tentacle stuff . . . What , too much info ?
@KazWolfe no. you take the bad coffee, dump it into a plant, plant grows better.
That wasn't coffee anyways. It was dark water that tasted sorta like beans.
@cl-netbox Horribly. I'm on a month of "cleansing" myself. So no coffee, smoking, or sugar
@SergiyKolodyazhnyy TMI... slaps in reality, and then tosses you into the space between dimensions
@KazWolfe true ! :) Hi Kaz ! :)
17:27
hi.
@SergiyKolodyazhnyy ugh. do we all need to share now?
@SergiyKolodyazhnyy and that works ??? :D :D :D
@KazWolfe lol
Hi @ThomasWard ! :)
@cl-netbox greetings to thee.
@cl-netbox eh, kinda. It pisses me off, but at least I cough less
17:29
@ThomasWard Thanks ! :) How's evil and darkness today ? :D
also, i got myself one of those screen protecting clip-ons for the glasses

@SergiyKolodyazhnyy not to be misunderstood : what you do is an extremely good thing - I wish you good luck and best success ! :)
@SergiyKolodyazhnyy yes you did ! I wrote a new answer ... didn't you see it ? :D
@ThomasWard i volunteer you to share first.
@cl-netbox Will check it out later today.
@cl-netbox thank you for the good wishes. I mean. I kinda want to make my loved ones happy, but also I want to make myself happy. So eventually I'll need to find balance between my bad habits, health, and family
ohai, AoC
@SergiyKolodyazhnyy I think you will find the balance, I'm quite sure. :)

On an unrelated note, I hate it when I find highly voted question, and there's like 3 posts of the same thing . . .and no, not posted within minutes of each other - within months. Originality, people !!! Where's originality ???
@SergiyKolodyazhnyy nice :)

@DavidFoerster sorry for being late, it was a valid answer, but op said "maybe" and that triggered the deleting call from my end I guess.
@SergiyKolodyazhnyy why is there coffee on my linux install?
@KazWolfe That's a new feature, added by Linus. He's had enough of Nvidia not supplying drivers for his coffee maker
@SergiyKolodyazhnyy i don't have /dev/coffee yet :(

18:40
wat
I've always wondered about CoffeeScript.
I've heard both good and bad things about it.
Sidenote: my ARM builder is painfully slow. I should switch it to Clang and add an x86 builder.
Clang is orders of magnitude faster than GCC for some strange reason.
@NathanOsman so what can one do with JavaScript or CoffeScript or Node on desktop ? I mean, I know it's mostly a web framework . . . But what can I do with it ?
Aside from making bloated websites that will eat up user's RAM ?
Node is... interesting.
I'm not sure it has all that much use on a desktop.
Interesting . . . electron can do that
Oh yeah, I forgot about Electron.
18:56
@AndroidDev Oh? What happens?
And are you referring to the desktop app or Android app?
@NathanOsman The Android app.
It's pretty easy to fix actually
But the bug is this:
