00:00 - 18:0018:00 - 00:00

18:02
Time for some Django fun.
18:17
hey @GeorgeEdison
you had to bundle lodgeit in the charm right?
That is correct.
ok
so when I post on their list telling them about the charm
I should say that it would be wise if they ... released tarballs?
Yes, that would have been excellent.
When I checked out from their repository - I also found a bug.
...so the archive bundled with the charm is actually slightly modified.
18:28
did you let them know?
hah
their issue tracker is 404
I can't really file it anywhere....
Perhaps (since it is open source) I should set up a Launchpad page :P
But then I still have to get the bugs upstream somehow.
Their list is a google group
maybe send a link there with the bug you fixed?
Hmm... okay.
They probably know their thing is 404
nice
excellent, once the store lands I will post on their list.
@JorgeCastro The store?
the charm store
the thing that will make "juju deploy lodgeit" just work
on the server side
so people don't need to branch and stuff by hand
Oh, I think I remember someone telling me about that.
Yeah, that will be awesome.
I did some more thinking about that idea you had.
(A site where someone enters their Amazon credentials and picks a charm to deploy.)
Has anyone started that yet?
18:59
well
some of the guys don't like it
"there's no way I am pasting my credentials to some other guy's web site."
Ah, I see the problem there...
so hey man, a guy from Reddit stopped by the channel on Friday
...but it's not really credentials. It's just some special API key thing, right?
well
if I gave you both sets
the access key and the secret key
you could basically run instances on my account
Oh, I'm starting to see the problem.
So then it's back to my GUI? :)
19:01
heh
indeed
That seems like the best way to deploy easily.
indeed
hey does your thing run on OSX?
I mean, it should right?
In theory - it's written in Qt so it should run on anything.
I can't remember if I hardcoded any paths in yet.
@OctavianDamiean you around bro?
19:16
@TheX: Are you around?
Yeah whats up?
I have built a 64-bit version of StackApplet over the weekend.
Would you be interested in trying it?
Sure, send me the link :D
Assuming you have this installed, then the link is: files.quickmediasolutions.com/stackapplet/…
(Please uninstall any existing version of StackApplet you have installed.)
I will tell you if I have that installed or not.
Gotta install the framework, it will be a moment
19:19
No problem.
waiting.....
still... waiting...
it won't move beyond here
None of the links work?
stack exchange does...
Let me try something on my copy...
jrg
jrg
Hangon, let me reboot and then I'll test as well (@GeorgeEdison)
19:23
looks like google myopen ID
are the ones that are not working
and facebook
@jrg Thanks!
@TheX Yahoo works?
ya
seems too
That one I can't reproduce on my 32-bit build in VC++.
@TheX Thanks for testing it.
At least we know that partial SSL support is working.
No problem :D
I can't program, but I can tell you if your program works or not :-D
I still have an idea of what might be at fault - but it will take a bit of time to fix it.
19:29
That's cool, just holler when you need me again
I'll be here till 4 lol
@jrg Octo question
@jrg I must be doing something wrong, it shouldn't have to push every single file every deploy right?
Like, if I only do one post
jrg
jrg
I think you asked that earlier...
short answer is, you're generating every single file again since you added a post
and because its status, it doesn't call a partial, so what happens is the "latest posts" partial needs updating.
although i'm not sure what is going on with yours. mine seems to not be acting like that. - github.com/jrgifford/blog/tree/master/public
@jrg putting up the 'demo' site - what do you think of this header.
19:45
@rlemon Yup.
working on this
what do you think of the banner
@jrg indeed.
yours seems to generate just what you need
We need some fancier font.
maybe I should start pushing to github
@jrg was that hard to set up?
jrg
jrg
What, my github/heroku setup? Nope.
@rlemon hangon, i found a bug.
19:49
hrmm... looks different on js fiddle.
@jsfiddle Y U PROTO TYPING TOOL THAT NOT PROVIDE REAL WORLD ENVIRONMENT ?!?!
@jrg I meant just pushing the blog to github
I don't think I need heroku
jrg
jrg
oh, i just did a git init in my blog dir, added and committed everything, and just do git add .; git commit -m "$blog post title"; git push origin master every time i do a post.
@rlemon Do you really wont to name it vLettering.js?
lol no, but that is the name i have for it right now. vanilla lettering.js
Isn't that a bit too similar to Lettering.js?
19:55
@jrg But how does that work if the posts are stored in a DB?
Ah, alright. :)
jrg
jrg
@GeorgeEdison For octopress, posts aren't stored in a DB.
i dunno. typeset.js?
typo.js
Ah, I didn't realize we were talking about Octopress (I have WordPress in my mind for some reason).
hehe typo.js. :D
19:56
splitUpMyFrigginText.js
@OctavianDamiean Shouldn't it then be tipo.js? :P
jrg
jrg
Typo.js sounds cool.
@GeorgeEdison it's a typography library (I got the pun, but we still need a name!)
19:57
Yeah - how about typesetter.js?
typset.js?
Oh you proposed that already.
typo.js is the only one rubbing me right.
typeset.js is taken already.
but will people understand that is typo[graphy].js and no ohhcrapihitthewrongkey.js
Yea that might be a problem.
It is also taken already.
Yup.
@rlemon "This libray will ficxs your javasscript speiling erros for yu."
lol
indieletters.js
nah ...
jQuery.js
shit it's taken
slaps @rlemon with a <marquee> tag
@rlemon On a similar note: jType.js...
damn Lettering.js is a good name ...
Texty.js
20:02
letters.js?
eachletter.js?
typesetting.js?
splitext.js
twolettersandahalf.js. :D
what does everyone think about splitext.js [split-text.js]
20:05
Not sure if that really catches what the library does.
typesetting.js would be available.
jrg
jrg
typersetting.js
typosetign.sj?
nah. :D
OH MY GOD!
I GOT IT! ubuntu ... wait.... nevermind
sj.gnirettel
Come on! You know it is awesome. :D
20:08
typesetter.js
typesetter.js sounds pretty good.
@JorgeCastro ... interesting answer on this one ... with your canonical hat on what do you think?

Q: No response on Ubuntu One Support

ShaneI submitted a support question to [email protected] 6 days ago, received an automated response and nothing since. I have replied a few times looking for an update and nothing. This is very dis-heartening for a service that I am evaluating to pay for. Is this typical or is there some...

I think it was George's proposal.
@fossfreedom I think that's embarrassing for the U1 folks
I don't like the '.', maybe typesetter/js
jrg
jrg
20:09
@rlemon bug report: cl.ly/Ekvk
Maybe just Typesetter?
Who says we have to include .js in the name?
jrg
jrg
TYPOERSETTING.CSS

JS is overrated.
lol nice bug report @jrg
name change === blowing away that banner.
jrg
jrg
Why thank you @rlemon. :)
next time don't make me tilt my head to watch it!
jrg
jrg
20:11

@fossfreedom I sent a mail though
I wonder what kind of mail he sent

Letter Freedom.
Inspired be our very own @fossfreedom. :D
20:14

screwnames.js
noname.js
@rlemon Sounds good!
U BROK ME FORK!

Of course it did. You don't want to mess with the Jorge!
this is why email for support is dumb
https form, ftw.
@GeorgeEdison DING!
@JorgeCastro Email really has little value anymore.
incoming moinmoin charm
using nginx too
first one I've seen like that afaict
I should add nginx support to LodgeIt.
20:44
@rlemon Pull request. :)
jrg
jrg
@GeorgeEdison i don't know if i told you this or not, but stackapplet works fine.
(64 bit windows 8)
we're up to 54 charms today!
On Windows x64?
@jrg What OpenID provider do you use?
jrg
jrg
google
@jrg And you installed the 64-bit version of StackApplet?
20:51
@OctavianDamiean closed like a boss
jrg
jrg
I installed whatever the file you linked to earlier was.
@rlemon I know and it felt like a stab in the stomach. j/k :P
@jrg Excellent - thank you!
@OctavianDamiean lol yea well i'm removing that demo shortly - I will re-push all demo's back to the main repo once I get them sorted on the webpage.
20:54
Don't worry <3u © Marco Ceppi

I hate how long gh-pages takes to update some times.
Can you answer this? Why does my server only uses 3GB of memory http://askubuntu.com/questions/82827/why-does-my-server-only-uses-3gb-of-memory #webserver
Ok, this is getting ridiculous. I have six starred messages!?
jrg
jrg
@OctavianDamiean I kinda want to star that now...
I mean I know you guys <3 me and I <3u too but six? ::D <-- two pairs of eyes is better than one.
jrg
jrg
21:07
Nah, thats too cheesy.
Was that a troll attempt? :D
jrg
jrg
possibly
@rlemon That's what I've got so far. jsfiddle.net/mainerror/FEmZQ
Amazing right? :D
Not even typesetted (is that our verb?).
Oh boy ... and a typo ...
Right. I think I'm too tired to produce anything but crap right now.
21:26
@TheX: Okay, I applied my "fix" to StackApplet now. Instead of just freezing, it will now pop up a message when it encounters an SSL error and it will offer to continue anyway.
The download link is the same.
(I also fixed a couple other minor issues.)

Q: Setting up a cronjob as a file

IndustrialI want to create a cronjob at my Ubuntu server by adding/modifying a file in the /etc/cron.d folder, rather than using crontab -e as it's not too easy to automate. I've managed to make a file looking like this: * * * * * username command >> logfile I can tell that the file is there, I'v...

@GeorgeEdison nope doesn't seem to have fixed it...
You don't see an error message?
21:41
No let me try something real quick
I noticed, that it installed to the Program(x86) folder, could that cause problems?
I don't think so.
Yeah I wouldn't think so either...
but yeah it just spins and spins and spins and spins...
@OctavianDamiean here you go buddy - how does this look for you
The cursor...
@rlemon thanks for not being helpful :P
@TheX you're not welcome.
lol
@TheX does that work/ look uber cool to you?
@TheX I'm surprised it isn't displaying an error message.
21:45
@rlemon it does work... but I don't know about uber cool...
@GeorgeEdison it hates me lol
now this is uber cool spinning
@rlemon
This is the error I get with myOpenID ---^
@TheX @OctavianDamiean this any better?
@rlemon that will give me a headache if I look at it for to long
I get
ignore the green, not sure what that is about...
I must not no my openID user name lol
@GeorgeEdison I have to go now... I will try it at home and see if I have any better luck :D
later tonight...
cya
@TheX Thanks for trying it.
22:15
I've let Stack Exchange know about the problem.
(Though it could very well be an unrelated problem.)

1 hour later…
23:18
Hmmm... more trouble with PyISAPIe :(
