Anyone know how to use the Windows 8 ISO file with Unetbootin? *looks at @GeorgeEdison *
I get a error:you need to load the kernel first

04:46
@William It doesn't work with Unetbootin.
You need a Microsoft tool.
Darn.
Anything I can do to make a usb drive in Ubuntu?
Guts. George Edison has them.
I forget the name of the tool - but you need it to create a bootable flash drive with Windows.
@RolandTaylor Do you have alien guts?
^---- It took guts to get that.
05:00
Guts are tasty.
Transformer Prime tf700t.
Its a ten inch tablet. Big whoop.

A: How to compile Qt for 64-bit Windows from a 32-bit environment with Visual C++ 2010 Express?

George EdisonThis process is quite tedious and time-consuming - but I will explain each step in detail here for the benefit of others who try to compile Qt in the future. The first step is to install all of the prerequisites. ActivePerl, which is used during the configuration process. You will need to res...

I know - it took nearly all day.
I'm surprised it works at all.
Step 10 is my favorite.
Oh by the way, I need help finding a question, which will solve a problem I have (unless someone knows the answer). Unity is not starting automatically on my nc8000, and I don't want to add it to startup applications (it will mess with other sessions).
If you push Ctrl+Alt+F1 and type unity, what happens?
05:42
I have unity running, will it mess with anything?

(Via G+ of course.)
@GeorgeEdison hahahaha
Hmm, running unity from a tty works, that's amazing.
I still need to figure out how to get it to start normally on startup though.
I also need to figure out why accessibility programs are being loaded on startup.
I see.
You can't login from lightdm?
I can, but when I do, unity (3D) doesn't load automatically.
I know there was a question with a solution before, but I can't find it.
You are the third person with this problem.
It seems like a bug with lightdm. Try using gdm
05:53

never!
:D
I won't go back to GDM :(

@AmithKK what does this mean in IRC? *** Notice -- TS for #yavarkkum changed from 1330776138 to 1264495108
@jokerdino Its the TimeStamp
What is it changed to?
on 11.10 how do I change the cursor themes to these new ones linux.softpedia.com/get/Desktop-Environment/Cursors
12:14
@mysterio download it and extract it to /usr/share/icons
then use gnome-tweak-tool
@jokerdino ok but I read one has to run a command in the terminal to ensure that the change is embalmed with all the applications
not sure about that.
i guess if you log out and log in, it will work.
the articles said something about some applications rejecting the new cursor theme if that command is not activated
@jokerdino here is the command sudo ln -fs /usr/share/icons/Bold-Knob/cursor.theme /etc/alternatives/x-cursor-theme
i don't have much experience messing around with cursor themes.
@amith can you join #yavarkkum on irc.freenode.net and tell me if you see anyone there?
@jokerdino ok thanks for your help

hi @julia, you need to have more rep to chat in here.

wah, so hard to list down all the contributions that I ever made to Ubuntu.
I can never be called humble again. :(
wiki.ubuntu.com/jokerdino promise not to laugh :D
I didn't laugh \o/
you can include your contribution to 2buntu as well (as a community thingy)
15:44
i thought i mentioned it? :D
> I also occasionally blog about Ubuntu in the community blog site 2buntu.com.
oh
I didn't see it lol
ohhhhhhh
I need to reformat the contributions, it is a bit overkill
It's not overkill to me, it's just in need of bullet points or something
I tend to skip-read when things are not formatted correctly
yeah lol
I read most of what is there, but because there is so much info that is like
line
long line
line
long line
line
longer line
it makes it easy to end up skipping things
15:47
My bad :0
how do i do double bullet points?
it's okay lol
I'm not sure (in the wiki format)
weirdly better formatting.
Yes that is better

I found this but didn't get any rough idea for it.

so call them
> To buy ads or inquire about tag sponsorships, please contact us at [email protected], call +1 (212)232-8280 and select option "2" at the auto-attendant to reach our ad sales team. Our business hours are Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm Eastern time zone in the United States.
@Rock What are you trying to advertise for?
We currently don't run paid ads on our network, though you could get ads on Server Fault, Stack Overflow, and Super User
It may be anything for my company site, for my technical products and many more.
18:43
In that case, you'll be able to buy advertising on Stack Overflow, Super User, and Server Fault :)
No issues, anyways I'd mailed any ways on [email protected], Hope they reply.
I'm sure they will!

Not this is becoming ridiculous ...
I was using dodge windows in unity mainly because it make the launcher go out of the way on maximized apps (like Kdenlive who is benefiting a lot from unity's capability of making the most space usable). But I was never hiding the launcher when I use "windowed" apps (like firefox on the left and openoffice on the righ part of the screen) because it helped me a lot switching with something else rapidly (like thunderbird, pidgin, etc) What I think to be a good third behavior of the launcher is to hide itself when one app or more are fullscreen and if they are not, being always there. There is some corner cases like if one app is full screen and the focused app is not. But I think this will not bring some crazy bugs like dodging windows did in the past.

I'm playing with the idea to try to branch off the new Unity version and add the old dodge window behavior.
The permanent appearing/disappearing made me nervous. I made the launcher static.
