I think I get most of my vocabulary and grammar stuff from my dad since he always uses a bunch of "big" words. He likes to sound smart even when it's unnecessary.
@WinEunuuchs2Unix I don't really like sports. But I do take care of my body by running a mile around my neighborhood 3 times a week and eating somewhat healthy
Eh, my dad is a coroner so I don't really wanna do that. But he is really smart.
He gets to do all the cases for Houston
Sometimes I even get to sit in court while he testifies for a case.
@OwenHines noted on exercise, but just remember most adults wish they could be young again and do it differently.... it's your opportunity to have fun. Although I never did it when I was in grade 9 I have the luxury of doing it in the future... being a political prisoner and all that :D
I should have downvoted that root user question! It reached -3... could have gone a little lower surely... two more votes... and now my answer has +20...
@WinEunuuchs2Unix I don't find sports to be fun. I have a pretty small group of close friends which I love to hang out with. I find helping people out here really fun and satisfying. Along with other things such as making little programming projects and playing Overwatch :P
There is someone who is worse...she's at 1948 now I rejected tons of hers but now I'm thinking of accepting them all so she hits 2000 and doesn't get any more points for editing.
@Kaz, I could make 40,000 points doing that to 200,000 questions with a "spellbot" modeled after a "wolfbot" how would you like to have that stuffed up your review queue?
@WinEunuuchs2Unix A lot, and we're not concerned about them. If someone fixes it, great. We're not gonna reject them, but they're not necessary either.
The post you rejected also removed the word "Hi", which is a good edit.
OK fine.. I'll just approve all those spelling corrections until they hit 2K and then they'll give up and try to answer a question for once in their life.
My screen on my Sony Vaio svt141190x is displaying very washed out colours and I meant to adjust them. I have been told I could do this via the gnome color manager that I can access via the settings menu.
Right now, this is what I'm seeing:
Sony SVT141190X - Uncalibrated
- HP E201 - Not speci...
@KazWolfe Oh, on the rejected edit earlier for adding code. You know that all the stuff I added was from what the OP said in a comment below that answer, right?
I'm running Ubuntu Gnome 16.04.1 LTS on a Dell XPS 13 laptop. After installing xcalib, running "xcalib -i -a" won't invert colors initially; instead, it only works when I set my laptop to sleep then turn it on again. The reverse is also true, making color inversion a real hassle. There also aren'...
Some time ago I installed Ubuntu 16.04 on my Dell XPS15 laptop. I've loaded an .icm profile, but it only works 50% percent of the time...
I've also noticed now that switching it within the color manager does not seem to be working. (It did before) However, when plugging in an external display, t...
If you can use rsync, you can grab all files from a folder, excluding a certain list using this command:
rsync -a --exclude-from=path/to/excludes.txt myuser@myserver:/path/to/files/ .
Be sure that path/to/excludes.txt is a text file like so:
abc.conf
rfc.conf
moo.conf
cat.conf

1:14 AM . . . . I should be going to bed. Have not done any homework( as usual ) and generally am behind, but at least I figured out how to deal with single non-periodic pulse, and sort of with pulse trains
I have a mid term exam for my Cyber Security and Network Systems class here in 6 hours, so I must get to sleep, and hope someone can help me out in the meantime! I am currently running Kali Linux using Vbox. Alright, long story short, my VBOXADDITIONS is (read only?) Anyhow, it says Write protect...
@Zanna Well I spilled coffee granules all over the floor to start my day off, so I think I'll go with 'improving' as my answer. How about you? Good weekend?
I have Ubuntu 16.04 installed and i have Windows on VirtualBox and I use it only for Excel. I link excel via RTD to another software to download data. RTD not work with Libre Office. When i collect data in excel i want to work with it by using Python but i dont want to use Python under windows on...
@Zanna I tutored a lad for GCSE maths once, helped him improve from a predicted D up to the B he needed for his IT apprenticeship. It gave me a renewed appreciation for anyone who teaches.
@Zanna He wasn't the most motivated, but was a decent chap, appreciated that his mum was shelling out cash, and he had a concrete aim for after exams. Sometimes he really just wanted to carry on playing FIFA though! I couldn't get cross though as I still sort of remember being that age!
By the way, @Serg, if ever you have any contact with Greeks or have to send your repo to a Greek or anything like that, I suggest you rename it : translate.google.com/#el/en/kolo
What's worse, the idiom for "shitty" or "shoddy" in Greek is to say something is "of the ass", making the repo name particularly untrustworthy to those who speak the language :)
@terdon Or other mods - can you reopen this question please (the OP deleted after I left a comment saying it was a dupe, but it was a fine question): askubuntu.com/questions/835284/…
I am running Linux Mint 18 on Cinnamon DE with kernel version 4.4.0-34-generic.
My goal is to install the GNOME shell (or DE, whatever) on my machine.
I've tried everything: Installing gnome-shell and gdm3 (and the meta package gdm). gdm won't start on boot and instead it will throw me on a bla...
