@NathanOsman: Oh sorry, didn't see your reply, I went off to do something else. Well, I know my graphics drivers are really buggy, and I should probably also update my network drivers and the rest of my drivers. Intel's update utility only supported Windows last time I looked.

@Seth: Fabby and some other people around here told me that if I installed drivers using that one then my system would crash and burn and that I should wait for Ubuntu to release updates in the repositories. Is that not the case?

@ParanoidPanda probally just downgraded - some packages were there before just bumped up in version - makes it even harder to get back to normal - that answer pins the versions of everything to that that is in the repos and removes/downgrades everything, so you end up with a stock core so to say
