@HeatherBrown how does one set up a secure domain like that? You even have official certificates
@HeatherBrown found it: letsencrypt.org
that's pretty amazing
I think I'll have to change my MC wrapper to use certs from them

How come 12.04.5 LTS is going to still be alive after 14.04.3 LTS goes EOL?
user136984
Because the first goes EOL a year after the second, how is that right?
user136984
When are we finally going to let 12.04 go? It's about time I think...
Oli
Oli
@ParanoidPanda I assume because 14.04**.3** will be replaced with a .4 and then a .5
@ParanoidPanda It's an LTS, it gets the full 5 years. That's the point of them.
user136984
Oh, right, so will these versions ever die?
user136984
Oh, I didn't realise it was 5 years...
user136984
13:47
So do they all go up to .5 and then that's the final one before they go EOL? Is that how it works?
user136984
So we're going to have 3 LTSs going at the same time soon then...
Oli
Oli
No, I don't think there's a limit to the number of point releases... They happen as they need to.
user136984
And does that increase the length of its support each time or was it always going to be ending in 2017?
Oli
Oli
For 14.04, .1 was a bundle of standard package updates but .2 onwards have been HWE releases (new kernel from the next releases, etc).
No the latest they'll be supported is 5 years. And some of the HWE upgrades have shorter support periods so you need to upgrade within those (or downgrade back to original).
user136984
Right, no, sorry, the fact that it gives the EOLs for the HWEs made it look as if each one had made it slightly longer leading up to 2017 for the final one...

@Serg There were some minor syntax errors, but other than that it works well. The only thing is you'll need a trap as well, otherwise some processes won't be terminated upon CTRL+C (e.g. yes), and I wouldn't kill $(pgrep $CMD): if you have another identical process that would kill both of them. It would be safer to kill the process' specific PID.
Also I think Byte Commander wanted to restart the process as soon as the temperature goes below another threshold: chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/message/26948581#26948581.
user139252
@ParanoidPanda It's too... messy
kos
kos
20:03
However that is useful in case one wants to start / stop it based on a single threshold, I think you should post it regardless. Here's the version with the corrections (but the kill $(pgrep $CMD) thing): I changed the indentation to another style because I have trouble understanding if / then / while / done on different lines:
#!/bin/bash
CMD="yes"
CRIT=55
$CMD & # spawn a process; replace with your own command
trap 'kill $(pgrep $CMD); exit' 2
while true; do
	CURRENT=($(sensors | awk -F'+' '/°C/{gsub(/°C .*/,"");printf "%d ",$2} '))
	if [ ${CURRENT[0]} -lt $CRIT  ] && [ ${CURRENT[1]} -lt $CRIT ] && [ ${CURRENT[2]} -lt $CRIT  ]; then
		STATE=$(ps -e -o comm,state,pid | awk -v proc=$CMD '$1~proc {if ($2=="S") {print "1"} else{print "0"};exit}')
		if [ $STATE -eq 1  ];then
    			continue # process has been spawned before, nothing to do here

I just finished a little later than the rest...

@HeatherBrown: Look, we all took up the challenged to design it, so just because I finished after the others did doesn't mean I should have just given up, after so much hard work and time, I thought I should at least publish it... Mosquitoes you can swat with tennis rackets and power as reliable as one would expect in India ;)
@NathanOsman congrats!!!
@Rinzwind I use Ubuntu and Lubuntu. My question is because there is some web page that are talking about this since December 2015, but in my PC there is no any message about it.

But I don't know if that turned out any good, it looks more like one of those animated adverts way you click to shoot a plane and get iPhone malware... :P
user139252
@ParanoidPanda I wasn't meaning to tell you it was inherently bad. It wasn't my taste. I did not mean for you to take offense.
@hbdgaf :D
@ParanoidPanda That part I really like! better then my narcissistic self!
user139252
@Kos I just had a freshly baked calzone
Back to work

@Fabby: Do you think that the background stuff was a bit much though? Because I wasn't sure about that and could still remove it if you think best...
or probably not 4.4 to be precise... but most likely a higher number
@ Rinzwind I see! Thanks a lot for your data!!! Greetings & Blessings from Chile!!!
user136984
I've got it in a GIMP file all with layers and everything...
@Juan well blessing back from a chilly Holland :X It's -10 here

Woah!!! here we have a very warm summer, 32 celcius degrees!!!

@HeatherBrown Thanks for beating the dead horse!
@HeatherBrown home-made? restaurant? delivery???? ;-)
@ParanoidPanda yeah, probably...
@ParanoidPanda I made it in GIMP using a single layer.
@kos I thought you thanked @HeatherBrown for being the dead horse! :D :D :D (or how misunderstandings start...)
@hbdgaf isn't the word "amazeballs" rude as well? (On a scale of 0 to 10 where 0=I hate you, 10=I love you, how "rude" is it?)
(sorry for asking, but never heard that one before...)
It's a superlative not a pejorative.
I wouldn't say it is rude, but it probably gets a 3 on the scale as far as vulgarity goes.
Yes, it is a bit vulgar

@Fabby Did you redo the entire image from scratch?
@Seth No, I just took @ByteCommander's original, saved everyone's avatar, scaled avatars, added RTFM, removed RTFM and added "Welcome!"
ah, ok :D
user139252
@Fabby Restaurant
(and scaled the entire thing again to 600x500)
@ByteCommander Really should have used GIMP and layers :P
user139252
20:42
@Kos I am beating a dead horse? Oh no!
@Seth :D :D :D
(people sticking their head around the corner and asking if I've lost it completely as I'm laughing out loud out of the blue...)
user136984
@Fabby: So do you think that this is better?

@ParanoidPanda The blurry background wasn't my issue. My issue is those weirdly textured speech bubbles
user136984
@HeatherBrown: Ah, yes that I had some trouble with... I couldn't actually get it to look nice with just a normal outline, so I decided to go with something more fun! :D
@ParanoidPanda ew :p
@ParanoidPanda No!!! the wavy bubbles!
they make it messy!
@HeatherBrown :D Great minds etc...

Q: messed up partitions during mint installation

roqstrSo i don't really know how to put it. I was using a windows10/ubuntu 14 LTS dualboot, when I decided to swap out ubuntu for mint. I downloaded the .iso, made a live-usb, started mint from the usb, pressed install, the installer told me there is ubuntu on my system already. I clicked to replace Ub...

@UbuntuQuestionsonU&L That ain't Ubuntu

@Fabby: They are not wavy, they are pixelated! What do you expect at that image size?

Debates about semantics are my favourites.

@Fabby: How did you manage to make your speech bubbles?
