serverside, no. locally, yes. i'm probably going to fire up nagios and look at how it does it.
@Greg alt-f1, then arrows
@JorgeCastro Nice! I was aware of the Super+number to launch things, but couldn't work out how to open up sub-menus
thanks
yeah go down
then right opens a quicklist if it has it
@jrg Have you tried any other email addresses?
jrg
jrg
@GeorgeEdison Yeah.
21:02
god - two timeouts in a row trying to access my website - I hate my host.
@GeorgeEdison was it by design that stored messages don't transfer between sites->rooms?
They don't?
It should across rooms.
messages are retained on all AU rooms, but none of my AU messages appear in my SO stored list
Ah - yes, that's by design.
SO's chat room is on a different domain.
hrmm. first feature request - allow me to import stored messages to other domains / give me the option to make them cross domain????
It uses HTML5's localStorage, so unfortunately it can't access data cross-domain.
21:09
booo!
also @GeorgeEdison (just because it's bugging me) .... why have you posed this as a Question when clearly it is a statement? "Frequent Message Manager - Easily store and send frequently used messages in chat?"
@rlemon That's due to the fact that the Stack Exchange engine "automatically" adds question marks when I end a sentence without a period :P
That wasn't my fault.
@JorgeCastro: I fixed up that charm... will Clint see my tag and message?
ahh.. well that's ok then.
@GeorgeEdison yeah
line 14: /usr/share/charm-helpers/sh/net.sh: No such file or directory
I get this error now though
I think you'd need to include charm helpers in the charm
I am asking now
That was from his suggestion.
@GeorgeEdison it's a great suggestion :)
21:16
Yeah, but it's an error :)
What happens if /usr/share/charm-helpers/sh/net.sh becomes /usr/share/charm-helper/sh/net.sh?
Does that work?
@MarcoCeppi figured it out
@MarcoCeppi paste what you said in irc here
@GeorgeEdison Just install charm-helper-sh in the install script before you source the file
@MarcoCeppi Isn't it charm-helper-bash?
no, charm-helper-sh
All the "bash" helpers are written using /bin/sh "for speed" (Mark Mims is convinced Dash is faster :P)
So that's the name of the package?
21:24
charm-helper-sh
It comes from the Juju PPA, but since the PPA is automatically added to each deployed machine, you have access to it
Fixed. Please try it now.
Updates his charms too
It.. is?
So I don't need the apt-add-repository ... ; apt-get update lines?
no, just do an install :)
21:33
Continues building charm-helper-php
don't we have a question for enabling the source code parts of a repo somewhere?
I had to rush it and didn't get a chance to spell / grammar check it - it's 2 minutes to 5pm =P
i'll fix it when I get hom.e
jrg
jrg
Heh, is it messed up that I'm running nagios on the box that needs monitoring? :P

Q: GNOME Shell Battery Icon missing

RekI am just wondering..... Why is there no battery icon? It's hard to work without any battery status around. I am using Maverick, and the GNOME3 files came from git.

can we close this please? I am assuming no one is using that git version from gnome-shell and are actually using something more recent :)

Q: Does picasa web album have compressed pictures if no then how to download complete album using firefox

wisemonkeyPlease refer to Can't download web photo albums to Picasa The question is bit old hence starting again with more information to it: I can download photos from picasa with no issues, however when I click on Download Album, I receive: Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because...

man writing question is tough :(
bull
writing questions is easy
I always need to include so much in question that it takes around half an hr or more just to compose it
:(
you should see my questions ;P
they're usually short and to the point
(I very rarely explain every single step i took to attempt to resolve a problem)
save for working with iptables...
with that, you kind of need to go into GREAT detail
23:31
hmm
on the other hand
why do you want to use Windows software on Ubuntu?
because Windows software NEVER integrates itself into ubuntu firefox
(which answers part of your question)
and you realize in the RSS feeds that it is likely a reformated, smaller-size image that you're downloading with DTA rather than the originals which are 8 - 9 MB?
I understand that but when someone gives packaged .deb I tend to believe its local
its not always the case
case in point, teamviewer 6
especially when someone like google says it :P
i use it to provide remote tech support
it requires wine
well google is full of noobs who know not of what they do.
23:34
yea I'm not gonna use those programs and LOL
just because something is in a deb does not mean its linux-built ;P
ESPECIALLY if its released from google
yup now I know
I'll keep that in mind
but still need to find a way to get album downloading each picture gonna take me forever -- unless my friends stop using picasa
I don't understand them I created cloud with owncloud for them have 500GB there and they still prefer picasa x-(
makes me angry
its freaking google dude
they will ALWAYS push you to use their stuff
cept for gmail, they dont have a Google Mail dedicated program yet ;P
(besides, Microsoft dominates the email program market in businesses who use gmail, so... :P)
(Microsoft Outlook)
ARGH
thankfully :P I wouldn't be surprised if one day I see gmail running in chrome but not FF
stupid cat

Q: Unity Launcher does not appear in 11.10 on mouseover

EvanI can reach the launcher with the superkey, but that''s just about it. When I move my mouse all the way to the left, nothing happens.

too localized!
@JorgeCastro I close yours you close mine??? :P
I always vote for yours bro!
@JorgeCastro are you asking for people to flag as localized?
we. are cleanup ninjas
i havent had my flagging quota filled today
23:42
@ThomasWard yeah, he was like "oh it works now, weird"
well 'tis flagged
self fixing ftw!
why is not all software like this???
you owe me 1 rep ;P

Q: What do you call a disk drive that is not solid state?

kojiroI tried searching for things like opposite of solid-state, but most of what I've found suggest things like liquid-state. I'm pretty sure a drive that is not solid-state contains no liquid to speak of. Is there a one word antonym for the use of solid-state in this context?

oh wow, i felt old reading this: I can name 300 names for drives that are not solid state!
@ThomasWard: DownThemAll works perfectly for pictures by point and shoot camera (sizes are small) so I think its rss feed which reduces the size
@BrunoPereira :)
and I thought it was question on askubuntu.com
23:50
@wisemonkey you were wondering why everything looked pinkish and girly??? ;)
@wisemonkey if that's what you did not get from my statement, then you need to go back and reread it
@ThomasWard yes that is why I tried on other album with photos from digicam
and it worked :) now is there a way to increase stuff received through rss ? I'm pretty sure sender maybe able to do it but as an user?
@wisemonkey nope, usually has to be done by the feed provider
alternatively, Windows (i think) is on sale for $20 off its normal price in the US :P
