@NathanOsman: Don't you have to do an open tag to start with?
user136984
<tag>text</tag>
user136984
Or are we not doing HTML here?
It's a joke.
user136984
And a joke that does not match the formatting standards of HTML... :P
apart from test-disk which is the most powerful Data recovery tool available for deleted files and what Kali Linux offer in data recovery or forensics
user136984
18:07
@NathanOsman: By the way, I clicked on something on one of your penguin's penguin videos and it took me to your Google+ profile page and showed me something to do with ducks, and a football team... So it looks like all the insanity still leads back to you! :D
user136984
I think it said something about ducks anyway...
user136984
I could be mistaken though... :D
user136984
@NathanOsman: Actually this is becoming really very strange now... Every time I go to one of your videos, I get taken to your page... Why is that?
user136984
For instance I went here:
user136984
user136984
@NathanOsman: And it took me here: plus.google.com/+NathanOsman/posts/TtzfBozL8rV
user136984
For seemingly no reason...
user136984
@NathanOsman: So, I was wondering if you had got it to do that for some reason?
LoL is it your voice for the review of windows 98 @ParanoidPanda
user136984
@MuditKapil: No, it's @NathanOsman's!
user136984
18:15
:D
I raised the pitch by 30% of an octave.
But yes, that's me.
nice emulated voice
you might have seen some kid speaking like that so immitated may be
user136984
@NathanOsman: Anyway, now I can't go to that video without it redirecting me to your page, and then it moves me down a bit so that I can see that duck image!
user136984
:D
No idea.
user136984
;)
user136984
@NathanOsman: As it's your penguin's channel, perhaps you should ask him about it.
There you have it. It wasn't him.
user136984
:D :D :D
user136984
I love him! He is so cute! :D
user136984
18:23
@Rinzwind: How did they manage that?
^^^ an empty answer?
Must have been an easy question :P

@A.B.: I pressed the edit button and there isn't even anything hidden in there...
18:24
yes, funny
user136984
How did they do it though?
He, there was an upvote for one second =)
user136984
Seriously though, how did they do it?
Aha!
I figured out how he did it.
And boy, I have to hand it to him. Pretty clever.
user136984
@NathanOsman: How did he do it?
user136984
18:30
Someone said ‌, but I have no idea what that is...
If you look at the HTML source in a browser or text editor you see this:
user136984
Right?
But if you open it in a hex editor, you see this:
user136984
Uhu?
There are hidden Unicode characters.
user136984
18:32
Ah...
user136984
What are they?
‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌\Uffffffff
user136984
:D
user136984
So what does one do to create one?
user136984
A blank question that is.
18:33
That's classified information :)
2
user136984
Oh come on! :D
I can't foresee a legitimate reason to need to do that...
user136984
Well what illegitimate reason could I possibly use it for?
user136984
:D
user136984
I am just very curious.
18:51
@Serg Are you still alive? :\
@A.B.: screenshots of an Android device is off topic on AskUbuntu /jk - I did not want to steal shots from the devs of these apps ;)
screenshots are off topic, great =))
@ParanoidPanda they are zero width, nothing to see...
@A.B. naaa I love shots in all colours... but my Android device has no PrtScr button.
ah man, why did people downvote that, that was the answer!
18:54
@Takkat which version?
@Mateo what?
the zero answer?
the empty answer, he had printed the character that the guy wanted to use - for some places all you can do is copy paste it from somewhere (i.e. askubuntu chat)
@A.B. 4.4.4 (it's on CM)
CM has a screenshot function
@Takkat power button and volume down
@A.B. ha - what it has all - but it has almost no documentation - doe not work on my sammy :(
@Takkat and this?
user136984
19:01
@JourneymanGeek: Is that your dog?
@A.B. +1 \o/ :)
user136984
On your profile picture that is.
user136984
:D
19:35
@Pilot6 an and a, the rule is simple … o_O
19:53
@Rinzwind yes. So long as it is a good question in general, but just off topic because it's about elementary, it's what I'm looking for.
@A.B. And I respect your efforts. Many people complain that obvious answers get a lot of votes. But the reason is obvious. If an answer is clear to many people, they upvote it. This is the whole point of this site. If there is a question, there must be an answer. I do not upvote answers that I do not understand. They may be perfect, but still... It is great that there is this site. I remember times when I was new to linux and could not find an answer to similar questions.
@Pilot6 :)
@Takkat thank you :)
@Pilot6 same here, I can only upvote an answer if I understand the answer.
user136984
20:11
VTC this.
user136984
I would say as primarily opinion-based, or too broad, which ever appears to fit best.
@A.B. I was confused some time ago that some of my answers got no upvotes or almost. I packed focaltech driver that is used by thousands of people, but got 2 upvotes here. O_o Only those who have that hardware can realize what is it for. Most of people just find answers in google and just install it. But you do a lot to get all kinds of answers available. I am too lazy for it.
user136984
20:25
Just need one more reopen vote for this.
@ParanoidPanda Done
That is a good question
user136984
:)
Oops It said I already voted for reopen ((
user136984
:(
I was wrong to close it
user136984
20:28
Well, I suppose that that is sort of a good thing... Because if you hadn't it would be at 3, and you would have only pushed it up to 4! :D
user136984
Yes, so was I.
user136984
However they weren't very clear until it was closed.
@ParanoidPanda reopened
user136984
Good
user136984
:)
user136984
20:41
@A.B.: I was going to answer it... But I can't because Gnome has everything in a different place from Unity so they won't understand what I am talking about! >:{ I also can't find the right section in my Gnome System Settings! :D

Q: System claims my USB is mounted when I insert it and I cannot (un)mount it. How do I fix this?

Kamikaze RusherI'm running Ubuntu 14.10 Server (headless). I have a group of USB flashdrives that I need to reformat for use across several devices. I've successfully mounted, formatted, copied files to, and unmounted three devices. Upon mounting the forth the system believes that the first partition of this d...

user136984
Wooooops! Didn't mean to ping anyone! Sorry! :D
user136984
VTC this this minty question.
@NathanOsman Very cool!
user136984
@NathanOsman: Cool! What does it do? :)
21:08
It's a bit of a niche though.
@ParanoidPanda Lets you disable WebSockets in Firefox.
user136984
Cool
user136984
:)
user136984
@NathanOsman: I might get it once it has been reviewed by Firefox... Because I don't want to turn my browser on one day to find a evil mastermind penguin looking at me... :P
Heh :)
You probably don't need it though... it's geared towards web developers.
The only reason I wrote it is because Firefox removed the ability to disable WebSockets in Firefox 35 and this was the only way to do it.
I have to sleep, again :)
Good night …
user136984
21:11
@A.B.: Night! :)
@A.B. Goodnight buddy!
user136984
@NathanOsman: I know the real reason why you, I mean, your penguin wrote it... So that he can create a mass botnet of all of those desperate web developers who desperately want to disable WebSockets... :P
user136984
So that the entire world will be at his mercy!
user136984
:D
O_o
You're right! I must stop him!
user136984
21:14
You must act, before it is too late!
user136984
Before he gets you too!
user136984
>:D
Nice try guys.
It IS too late.

user136984

:O
Did George take over the world?
user136984
user136984
@Seth: I think so! We are all doomed now!
In completely unrelated news, Windows 10 is being released tomorrow.
21:19
Yup. That's going to be interesting.
(At least I think it's unrelated. We may never really know...)
Will it also have plug and play that actually requires 17 windows to be open like in 98?
user136984
:D
Just under 7 hours here for Windows 10 release
All I know is this: I've got a 1Mbps connection so this update will not be fun.
21:21
3.4GB download at 1Mbps = A very loooooooooooooooooong time!
That is almost 9 hours to download at that speed
Sounds about right.
It took about 8 hours to download the preview.
WOW!
Once it starts, go to bed.
Yeah :)
I've done a few of those (start a download and go to bed).
From my understanding, they are releasing it in waves, so when the waves are that you're supposed to start download is anybody's guess.
Looks like you might be sleeping in the middle of the day. :D
Sneakernet it somehow
Find a place with a faster connection
Take a laptop or something there, download it, and then you have it :)
21:29
My cellular connection can go as high as 6-8 Mbps on good days.
@quake120 Doesn't it have to be the computer you're installing it on?
Something tells me your cell provider might not like you downloading 3.4GB
I get to update at least 5 systems in my house.
I'm not sure...I figured maybe it wuold have an ISO you could download or something. This might be showing how much I know about Windows 10 haha :)
I paid extra for premium data - it's unlimited and they don't throttle until I get to 10 GB.
So I'm not worried about that.
(And besides, I downloaded over 8 GB of data last month, so 3.4 isn't too bad.)
I got throttled once
21:31
@quake120 That would be ideal. Then I could just go over to the local coffee shop and do it :)
It was painful. Like dialup basically
@quake120 Yeah, they drop it to 256 Kbps if I use more than 10 GB.
I'm sure my job wouldn't mind if I brought in all my computers and did it here at my desk. :P
I know I've said this before but I miss my old office where we had 100 Mbps.
I'd just bring it there and upgrade :P
user136984
@NathanOsman: What is this?
user136984
21:32
:D
Try it!
Geez! I might have to do it here. 681.86 Mb/s down
Whoa. Hello.
There are gigabit providers downtown here but I'm not downtown.
I don't think I could ever get faster than 100 Mbps here and even so it would still cost well over $150/m.
user136984
I got:
user136984
> And options as desired): mkisofs -J -r -o your.iso /name/of/directory/with/your/files/ If you have already moved them somewhere else.
user136984
21:35
> And once you have decided which version of vim you can get which supports Ubuntu 14.10. It can be able to get this working with:
user136984
> sudo apt-get remove 0ad-data Most distributions run the update command automatically, but the application which you will need to download say that you need to install the .NET Framework then create it in your home directory which the NetBeans folder is in, this will most likely be your OS goes here.) This has already moved them somewhere else. And then you should download the 32-bit version you should get.
@NathanOsman OUCH! That is pricey!
user136984
> And once you are will now show the progress bar which normally shows how far into the program you are will most likely not be installed by default. The link which you provided here for fixing Brightness issues in.
user136984
:D
user136984
Right... Well anyway...
user136984
21:38
Goodnight (including evil mastermind @GeorgetheDev)!
user136984
:)
@ParanoidPanda Goodnight man!
22:32
😎
@RolandiXor yo.
@ParanoidPanda No, that's not strange... For you that's just the Modus Operandi... ;-)
@NathanOsman Installed. No preferences? When enabled it just disables webSockets?
@Fabby Yup, there's a menu item in the Web Developer toolbar.
@ParanoidPanda You being paranoid should install it! Installing stuff from Nathan himself is better then any FF review!!!
22:41
@GeorgetheDev o/
@ParanoidPanda Ah! Good morning then by the time you read all this!
