What happens when you press Super + D? A command is invoked right? If a launcher could be made to invoke that command when clicked it would be pretty easy.

it still works if you replace the super+d with ctrl+alt+d in the .desktop file, but it still has the problem that you cannot click it twice very fast, because of some launcher timeout or whatever

I did fresh install to 11.10 and I am unable to find a menu editor. Please do not post methods offered by 11.04 as none of them work. This question goes for the 11.10 users who made a fresh install and found an answer. What I need to do is create a custom menu entry for many aplications.

Is that the way to treat a user with a problem?

Another example was when people responded to GNOME Shell as a terrible move, long before it became the sure way forward. I was one who said no to it (in a way that was just "Not working, let's try to find something else"

We were ignored... obviously.

Listen before u login u need to choose the UI u wanna use by default its unity. If u wanna use gnome 3 choose 'gnome' fromt me menu. From what i see there is that ur in gnome classic mode with the gnome shell adwaita theme. so try it back OR ur VGA is doesnot support it and u are un able to acces...
