No, it sounds like it freezes right after starting.
...and had to be force closed.
Ah, got it to crash if you open the camera while running it, maybe he is hacked with something using the camera in the background?
Oh, well the main program was still open...
Just the pic taking stoped.
o/ @Lucio
@NathanOsman it stops if it can't focus
Still not a crash yet
@NathanOsman where are the pics?
Ah, I see. That doesn't seem to get loaded into th picture viewer
00:21
Sorry for the delay.
I've gone from desktop to mobile now as I'm in the car.
(No, I'm not the driver :P)
It will abort if it can't focus.
But it shouldn't crash.
The pics are stored in DCIM.
@RPiAwesomeness that is why I spent the extra 20 dollars to get a network enabled printer and made a address reservation for it on the DHCP sever.
Ugh. Bothersome Windows 10.
Worst is ever.
We have a network printer connected wirelessly.
The only problem is that it is currently broken :P
Hmm so much for sitting on the porch. Just started police pouring rain.
00:35
The scanner still works though... and you can access that over the network.
Worst os ever.
It just got really dark really fast. I am scareded.

YARGH. Windows is being such a pain. Dunno if it's actually Windows, or just Windows reacting badly with Vbox...but it's just being annoying

Ugh. I hate my friggin permanent retainer. It makes me sound like I can't speak half the time and screws up my d's and s'es :P

Not sure why it shows quad zero.

@Seth are you there?
@TheX Yes.
how do I run a python script on a remote computer via SSH?
What is the command?
Are you already logged in via ssh?
Or do you want to do it within the initial ssh command?
Yes I am logged in
and in the correct directory
normally running a python script is either just python /path/to/script.py or, if the script contains a shebang line (#!/usr/bin/python) you can just use ./script.py.

@TuxForLife Np, you're very welcome :)
@TheX Either you don't have the requests module installed or you need to use python3. Is there a shebang line?
Usually installing requests is as easy as sudo pip install requests.
But you have to have pip installed first: sudo apt-get install python-pip
ok hold on

ah, it was "window snapping"
that is what I was using

Rkhunter 1.4.2 apparently makes all older version obsolete, so how come the repositories still have the old version in them and you have to download the tarball to install the latest? What's the deal with launching gnome-terminal and execute a command? gnome-terminal -e "echo foo" or gnome-terminal -x "echo foo" launch a Terminal and the close instantly.
20:39
@kos add $SHELL at the end
echo foo; $SHELL
likek that
in profile there is a setting "Exit after command finishes" which you can switch to hold the window. But then you can't use it. With $SHELL, it expands to your login shell, opens that, and holds the window open till you exit the shell
kos
kos
@Serg You mean the reverse? echo -e "bash; echo foo"? Anyway that did it! Thanks
@kos trick is getting it to hold. Running bash is one way. Depending on terminal, there might be options unix.stackexchange.com/questions/155955/…
nope, I meant gnome-terminal -e "echo foo; $SHELL" . but anyway
kos
kos
@Serg Nope it didn't work either way, but I missed the part about about the profile. So I guess there's no other way than setting this in the profile?

@CarlH Yep same here. I was trying to write an answer to this: askubuntu.com/questions/622442/…
Ok I found this on SO: gnome-terminal --tab -e "/bin/bash -c '/usr/bin/myprog; exec /bin/bash -i'"
@kos that one is a bit reduntant since it calls bash that calls bash again, but if that works, sure
kos
kos
@Serg Yeah, not the cleanest solution at all. But at least it doesn't force you to change your profile's settings.
@kos true that
i wonder why deverlopers didn't consider a "hold" option like in xterm. baffles me
user136984
21:03
@muru It says version 1.4.2, but that is only because I upgraded it manually after running sudo rkhunter --versioncheck and finding that I was running version 1.4.0, and that version 1.4.2 was available. Also, when I first installed it (before manually upgrading) before any operation it would announce that it was [ Rootkit Hunter version 1.4.0 ].
kos
kos
@Serg Yeah. Also I was thinking that it would be nice to be able to spawn Terminals with profile settings passed from the command line. I can see myself already making Terminals spawn with different color throughout the day
@kos well you could always use echo escape sequences to change the color
echo "\033[1:31" is red i think
echo "\033[1;31m"
and "\033[1;41m" makes background red
@CarlH it's a profile you have to create yourself
there's an option in profile prefernences that deals with what happens after the command finishes
@ParanoidPanda I've got a container lying around somewhere. let me check
I've found where I got that idea for $SHELL: askubuntu.com/questions/20330/…
So that works with scripts but not when you run commands with -e flag
@ParanoidPanda could not reproduce.

Q: Can you install & boot linux from a specified folder?

JoeyThe Situation: I have access to a computer in the university, but no root rights. I already installed Ubuntu on a USB Drive and I could boot and run Ubuntu, but the computer has only USB 2.0 and I'm not happy with the speed, so could I install Ubuntu on the hard disk, but in my home folder? Coul...

@kos yep. The background colours are usually 10+foreground colours. Here's a list: ascii-table.com/ansi-escape-sequences.php
on the icon color, i was thinking more of a cornflower blue--Office Space.

@Mateo - You're going to laugh at this. The redo on the bloodwork, all clear. So must have eaten something that day that pushed the K up. Now it's just finding someone to reup the anxiety meds for an extended period of time, so I don't have to tolerate the bp spikes at work.

@muru Well, I think that I installed 14.04 and then upgraded to 15.10, so it is very likely that I would not have noticed as I would have already installed and upgraded it.
@RPiAwesomeness yup
@hbdgaf not too bad, it is more funny in the movies ;p
@Mateo yeah, not i just have to find a doc to extend my script length and up my dose a bit. i still ramped to 145 today... and i can't afford an every 30 day visit cycle.
gets more complicated when the thing that worked is a schedule 4 substance... so it's not like an asprin.

Ooo, yikes.
Well. it wasn't queasy and awful retching... so it's ultimately fine. Just a ramp I'ld rather eliminate.
