Q: Infinite Scrolling - Never Click Another Page Number Again?

George Edison About Have you ever been reading through a post on a Stack Exchange site with a lot of answers and you had to keep clicking the next page link? Wouldn't it be nice if you didn't have to do that? Well now you don't! Introducing Infinite Scrolling. Just keep scrolling down the page and the...

Pfff. Stupid automatic-convert-exclamation-to-question-mark-at-end-of-question-titles.
01:02
Why are these directories called file systems? http://askubuntu.com/questions/64007/why-are-these-directories-called-file-systems #filesystem
01:26
Howdy !
How are you @GeorgeEdison ?
Great!
Did you see my new UserScript?
Looks good !
but it will create lots of bandwith usage I reckon.
Not really.
It will actually use less bandwidth than going to each of the pages individually.
And it only loads answers as you look at them, 30 at a time.
01:40
that makes sense if you are checking lots of answers, but for people like me who look at the top answers will be extra internet usage :) which is not much anyways.
Yeah... but it won't load them.
It only loads the extra answers when you scroll to the last one on the page.
So until you scroll to the bottom, it doesn't do anything.
ah cool, that lazy load is fun!
@GeorgeEdison Just a quick question, what will be the best option to keep a live CD changes ?
its on a Virtual Machine.
So... you have a VM with Ubuntu running that has the LiveCD mounted?
I'm probably not the best person to answer that since I almost never use the LiveCD for anything other than installing Ubuntu.
Yup, Ubuntu Mini Remix.
Do you want to install it in the VM?
01:44
no I am going to remaster Mini remix but to avoid downloading lots of packages in case something goes wrong
I was wondering if I could back it up or something
Oh... I'm afraid I know very little about remastering the LiveCD :(
its all right, thanks for try.
I wonder if I can ping some of the guys in here ?
@GeorgeEdison do you know anyone who is online and good at remastering ?
I'm not sure.
@AmithKK: was talking about it yesterday I think.
He'll probably be here soon.
Tip: if you click on a user's picture and click "user profile" it will show you a graph of what time during the day they're usually around.
nice!
thanks
02:49
I have live min remix and installed openbox and all the dependencies but openbox-sesion gives me /usr/local/bin/openbox: error while loading shared libraries libobrender.so.27: cannot...
03:01
never mind fixed that.
03:21
@GeorgeEdison have you ever got openbox up and running ?
Afraid not.
aight, sorry for lots of ping :P
No problem.
Are you relatively new to Ubuntu?
yeah kind of.
I have good understanding of programming though.
Cool. I'm kind of new to Ubuntu too.
I've been using it since March last year.
Yeah, I have a much longer history programming as well.
03:34
sweet!
Anyone using 11.10?
I'm busy installing Beta 2. Just had it crash on me. :)
Afraid not. I usually wait for the final release before upgrading.
@PietDelport I am assuming you are installing it fresh on a Virtual Machine, if so you might consider increasing the ram size.
@OmeidHerat Nah, this is a fresh machine.
how big is the ram ?
chatting from the installer at the moment.
4GB
Ah cool !
then here you are !
according to the crash report it's a known issue, though
04:08
Woh!
I managed to setup and run openbox-session
Now how do I get out of it !?
or how I can access terminal ?
Ah
rightclick !
never mind
Ohai @OmeidHerat
Sorry bout ydat
nah its all good !
how are you ?
I got Ubuntu remix and openbox up and running
fine
now I am going to install xampp and chromium
XAMPP...? Like the actual program XAMPP?
04:16
Building an i5-2500ks c/w 8gb ram and ssd drive, should I use 64-bit? http://askubuntu.com/questions/63992/building-an-i5-2500ks-c-w-8gb-ram-and-ssd-drive-should-i-use-64-bit #upgrade
yeah
@AmithKK whatever I click on openbox it says failed to execute child process "???" (No such file or directory)
@OmeidHerat Screen?
what do you mean ?
I got the oepnbox up and I can see the right click menu
That is no prob
not even the openbox configuration ?
04:28
@OmeidHerat Im not too head to toe to OpenBox, Did you finish the setup?
You DONT need OpenBox
you Just need ChromeLocalServerSession
yeah
wait
And yeah, I would suggest you to get ssh working as well, cuz you never know when you'll need remote access
yeah that make sense
sudo apt-get install openssh-server
and get the keys and store them safely
wonderful
04:31
Wuuut? Firefox does not support the 's' regular expression flag?
thanks for the tip
@GeorgeEdison No, I dont think so
@OmeidHerat anytime
That's... odd.
Yay ! got the xampp running
That's cool... I found a way around that: [\W\w].
04:42
@AmithKK I can't seem to install chrome
what is the easist way to install all the dpenedicies ?
Enable the Universe and Multiverse Rerpositories
How are you trying to install Chrome?
uncommet all the unv/multiv ref in your sources.list
sudo dpkg -i google*.deb
What error are you getting?
04:47
dependicies missing.
Does it list which ones?
xdg-utils,libtak1.....
and heaps more
Use the PPA
@AmithKK What PPA?
04:51
That's the Chromium PPA.
Yep
@OmeidHerat :/ I told you no to install chrome :?
Why not Chrome?
Its Closed Source
@OmeidHerat Enable the universe Repository , it will solve your probs
@AmithKK What's wrong with that?
Skype is closed source.
Opera is closed source.
04:56
@GeorgeEdison it's not OpenSource what more can be wrong with that ?
You don't know what you got.
@AmithKK sudo apt-get install chromium say its not found.
Universe repository is uncommented.
aight, I think sudo apt-get -f install is going to do the trick
05:13
Finally, Twitter has value:
@AmithKK Looks like I can't make this work :|
nah, no it says no space left :|
because its running off ram
facepalm
let me try if I can extend the ram.
05:16
if you reboot youll lose EVERYTHING!
I know right
its on a vm though
I keep taking copys
:/
I can still upload the iso @OmeidHerat
@AmithKK I would actually love if you could do that.
I want it to load xampp and the chromium
I will try to change the xampp files leter
05:40
@AmithKK you there ?
@OmeidHerat Yep
I think I am going to redo it all
so what I need ?
xorg packages ?
and no openbox ?
just xampp + chromium ?
Yep
and nano or vim
will mini remix comes with nano
05:47
cool
if i am not going to use openbox then what is xorg for ?
For the display
i see
only xorg or other pakcages as well ?
and the input
openbox is just another WM
Wait, can you torrent??
like download a torrent ?
yeah, if somebody here volunteers to help,
the dload will be faster
05:51
torrent is only faster when your connection is faster then the host, which I don't think its the case with you and ubunturemix
you can resume dloads
hem what is that ?
have you remaster it !?
yes
fast add the torrent
05:58
thanks heaps man !
yaeh I did it.
I am downloading that torrent
so its Ubuntu 11.04 remix with xorg , xampp and chromium ?
right ?
yeah
it also has LXDE fallback
it runs xmapp then loads chromium ?
THANKS HEAPS MAN !
can you upload it on FTP ?
no prob
No :(
06:00

06:05

Wait!
How big is the file?

4xx MB
Does U1 allow public sharing?
i guess
Or... if your PC is publicly reachable via your IP address...
You could just quickly use JetHTTP :)
06:09

@AmithKK That's nonsense. I bought a copy of Ubuntu just the other day (came as a LiveUSB and was pre-configured for the Joggler and had SqueezePlay set up on it already). And there are lots of companies that will sell you a LiveCD if you want one.

@AmithKK Yes and you can charge whatever you like but you have to honour the GPL - if you're making changes you're legally obliged to make sure the sources are available.
