Q: Is there a bug somewhere with the flagging system?

kosI just raised a single flag for spam on this question, and when clicking the flag button again the popup shows this: But i just flagged the question once, and accordingly i still have 9 flags available to be raised today. Is there a bug somewhere with the flagging system?

Q: Moving large size directory using rsync

asadzI plan to move from linux o/s a directory which is mounted on SAN(offboard) to external storage for backup. The dir size is 14TB. I do have experience moving files in/out using rsync but never done this with large size directories/files like now. The directories are laid down in terms on year/...

Q: Leaving easier questions for less experienced users

ArronicalI'm still fairly new to AskUbuntu, and trying to build my rep steadily. I have a bit of solid knowledge in some areas, and try to apply that to answering questions (only if I know what I'm talking about). The issue I'm seeing, is that with these fairly easy answers, whilst I'm composing a reply,...

Q: Ubuntu MATE and Ask Ubuntu

Rohith MadhavanUbuntu MATE is now an official Ubuntu flavour. Don't believe me? Check this link. As you can see, Ubuntu MATE is listed on the official Ubuntu images page - cdimage.ubuntu.com, which means that it should be supported from Ask Ubuntu from now onwards, by virtue of being an official flavour. Thi...

@AskUbuntuMeta um, not quite... Read the FAQ.

Do Qs I flag for migrate get migrated when helpful?
14:06
@Virusboy occasionally - remember the golden rule - "dont migrate crap" - so it has to be a good quality question - something that you would ordinarily would upvote here as "good research" that would be then migrated.

Q: Direct access to Askubuntu reputation statistics

JosI'd like to be informed (in real time) of changes in reputation, helpful flags, etc, for my user ID. I wrote a script that scrapes the reputation off my user page using curl and grep. That was the easy part, but other statistics appear to be generated by JavaScript. Is there any way of accessing ...

@Rinzwind he did correct this time

18:52
@Rinzwind: I added the information to you asked for in my question by the way. :)
@Toroidal saw it but was busy making answers D:
user136984
Oh, ok! :D
BUT... the conf file not being present seems ODD to say the least
where is it on your system? there must be one :P
user136984
What would it be called?
user136984
clamav.conf?
user136984
18:54
Or something of that sort?
yes as stated in the error message ;)
user136984
Because I have been searching for that on my system and I can't find it... :(
locate clamav.conf
is the easiest ;)
user136984
I searched for that file on my system and it apparently does not exist...
@Rinzwind there is no issue with it. As long as the files are verified and stated.
18:56
ok
user136984
But I searched also for the file that apparently was not found in the error message and all I could find was a file called "clamd.conf.sample", in "/home/<username>/clamav-devel/etc".
thats not it @Toroidal :)
user136984
Yeah, but that is the only file on my system with a similar name, so thought that I should mention it anyway.
user136984
:)
Now for the big question @Virusboy should I do a chmod 777 -R / to test my answer? D:
19:01
in a vbox
@Toroidal well the error is due to not having a conf file ... so the 1m$ question is: where to get one.
reinstall clamav
user136984
I will probably have to reinstall clamav, but why have I not got a config file in the first place?
@Virusboy it shouild be possible to get a conf file w/o doing that :P
i dont know how
user136984
19:03
But if the config file is missing, who knows what else... So maybe a reinstall would be good...
there is one
@Toroidal go for it :D
and then answer you question >:)
user136984
@Rinzwind: Ok, thanks! :)
user136984
@Rinzwind: I have updated my question to include some more information.
user136984
Because before you sent me the link I have tried reinstalling the program, but makes no difference.
19:19
Anybody in here with good knowledge of quantum physics? ;D Could need some help for my physics exam tomorrow...
@ByteCommander not me. but there is a stackexchange for that :)
so there must be a chat too
@Rinzwind Thanks, did not know. SE is getting too big slowly... ;D I will look over there then.
19:44
Wow... the Deshaker plugin for VirtualDub does a ridiculously good job of removing camera shake.
Like I am really impressed.

@Toroidal Okay, but not my favourite. Do you know DragonForce (power/speed metal)?
user139252

user139252
I come in and see Dragonforce?
user139252
No....just...no.
For me, this was love at the first note! ;D What is your problem?
user139252
Anyways, anyone good with C++? Something weird is happening to me.

I'm trying to get a program to wait for a user to press enter.
user139252
Seems like an easy std::cin.get(); right?
user139252
But if I just put it once, it skips over the line.
What is your C++ problem? I have some skills, but not too advanced yet.
Oh, sorry. Connection lagged... :-(
user139252
20:57
If I put it twice, once right after the other (typo at first)
user139252
then it waits
user139252
I'm trying to put together a file for a STEM club to work on as practice, pretty simple quadratic formula solver. But, I don't want to say "this file works, make it better" if it doesn't work to begin with.
Can it be that there is still an [enter] stored in the keyboard buffer that has not been processed until the first get?
user139252
Possibly...
user139252
You want the code?
21:00
I don't know the command, but search for something that flushes the keyboard buffer. The get should work after that one, I think.
user139252
int main()
{
int A,B,C;
std::cout << "Solves the Quadratic Formula" << endl;
std::cout << "A = ";
std::cin >> A;
std::cout << "B = ";
std::cin >> B;
std::cout << "C = ";
std::cin >> C;
std::complex<double> a = A;
std::complex<double> b = B;
std::complex<double> c = C;
std::complex<double> d = sqrt(pow(b,2)- 4.0*a*c);
std::complex<double> r1 = (-b + d)/(2.0*a);
std::complex<double> r2 = (-b - d)/(2.0*a);
std::cout << "The answers are " << std::showpos << '\n' << r1.real() << " " << r1.imag() << "i\n" << r2.real() << " " << r2.imag() << "i\n" << endl;
user136984
Does anyone know of a way of getting multiple clipboards on Ubuntu 14.10?
@Toroidal Progging it yourself?
user136984
@ByteCommander Well, I thinking about writing a program to do that, but wanted to check if there was already a way of doing it.
user139252
got it, just had to do a std::cin.ignore()
user139252
21:07
Been too long since I did C++.
@Toroidal Don't know. Google, software center, if nothing is found, you will have to bother java or any other language you want, that is able to access the clipboard. I also once planned to do that with Java, but never started yet. And currently I should be studying quantum physics instead of chatting :P
user136984
@ByteCommander Ok! :D
