you know what I find funny, any time I attempt to do anything close to gaming Windows heats way up and threatens to explode. Ubuntu on the other hand stays as cool as a cucumber.
I finally figured it out. I was using postgres:latest instead of postgres:9.3... and since the fine people over at Docker decided to bump latest to 9.4, I ended up with a DB version mismatch.
sudo service squid3 status works, implying squid is in upstart
However a listing of services using
sudo service --status-all
does not show squid
.Neither does
sudo update-rc.d squid3 defaults
work (gives an error saying update-rc.d: /etc/init.d/squid3: file does not exist)
On doing so...

I want to install those packages in multiple systems.It will be very useful,if there is any command for this task.So,i will relieve myself from typing sudo apt-get install in each system and waiting 30 mins for download every time.

i would like to know how to use function keys in my dell vostro14 3000 series laptop. i tried f2 function key to rename a file, but its not working, and also tried Fn+F5 key to off the screen, but that is also not working. can anyone help me?
i see why people think windows / linux are very similar, when you install them they look very similar. they both have a start menu / dash, a dock type thing, and they both have firefox

A question to the community (because does not fit on AU): Has anybody experiences with VPS (Virtual Private Server)? I just heard of it and now am thinking about subscribing for a free VPS. Can you recommand some providers? I don't need either that much resources at the moment (fast processing would be nice, but e.g. a few GBs of HDD are enough) nor any advanced networking features. Currently I would just like to run a small Ubuntu on it and let it calculate some time-taking things. It is not too bad if the VPS would need a few days or weeks, I just don't want to have my own laptop running …
So can anybody suggest me a good free and trusty VPS provider?

@Fabby The problem with /usr/share/pixmaps is that it doesn't let you customize the icon based on the current theme. For example, Unity, by default, uses the ubuntu-mono-dark theme - which is basically white icons on a dark background.
This doesn't go well with brightly colored icons. On the other hand, the launcher tends to look nicer with colored icons.
What I ended up doing was using different icon names for the indicator and the icon for the application itself. Quite complicated but it works :P
