lol
uhm
iaktos m is hardware-dependant
it can only be installed on the hardware it's made for.
(i've tried)
iATKOS Y then?
not released, and same thing
last free iaktos was ML2.
do Niresh or vanilla (vanilla is best imo and is not hard)
Ugh! All that hard core 'hacking' for nothing!
21:02
lol
also, mac 10.10 had something weird
OOTB touch screen support.
Ugh! it's getting late, and i still haven't had time to eat something!
Good night! folks!
is apple working on a surface-like macbook?
osx on ipads?
touch screen macs?
it'll just show their originality.
I wish someone would create a device that starts as a 4-5 inch mobile device and morphed between the various stages phone--->tablet--->laptop--->desktop, depending on the need of the user at that particular time...
@TheX physics is really evil, isn't it?
@TheX Would be something like KnightRider, but for the pocket instead of the garage? ;D
Of course, the film is called Knight Rider, the car's name is KITT! Sorry about that....

A rollable display is a flexible display that can be rolled up into a scroll. Technologies involved in building a rollable display include electronic ink, Gyricon, and OLED. Electronic paper displays which can be rolled up have been developed by E Ink. At the CES 2006, Philips showed a rollable display prototype, with a screen capable of retaining an image for several months without electricity.[1] As of 2007 Philips Polymer Vision expected to launch a 5-inch, 320 x 240-pixel rollable display based on E Ink’s electrophoretic technology. Some flexible organic light-emitting diode displays have been...
I hate physics...
@Mateo It's possible to build flexible Li-Ion accumulators too.
couple that with a telescoping frame, and you could have a phone that one side would extend to make it a tablet
@Mateo put a keyboard on that, laptop.
@Whaaaaaat Someone just downvoted several 10 scored questions on the proposal >.>
21:14
@Seth i saw that
how many votes you got left?
also, got it back up to 2
well, now I can learn vim
jrg
jrg
@Whaaaaaat so for vim
this is good
just use the vim tag on SO
i mean, i followed it, cool idea.
upgoat some of the questions!
@Whaaaaaat none :/
@Seth 2 left...
@Seth can you move votes to questions that need them?
@Whaaaaaat already done that.
@jrg that looks neat.
21:24
@seth do you have any votes on 11+ questions?
@Whaaaaaat silly question to ask @Seth
@Whaaaaaat didn't I just answer that?
well, if you did, you could have swapped to a 10-vote to bring it to 11
where i'd swap mine to one of the lower ones.
oh well.
now it's up to someone else.
we've done our job
@Virusboy, did you do yours?
21:29
where
vote for those questions :P
one is at 8 another at 7
put them to 9 and 8 :P
also, you can upvote muru's question and i can push one to 10
done
you missed muru's question
@Seth let's bring the site to life by gaming the votes :D
okay @Virusboy, there should be one open 9-q you can vote on
21:34
@Whaaaaaat ?
got it
@Seth ONE MORE (that needs 2 votes)!
okay. there's another 9
can you get that @Virusboy?
we are all set
one more vote
gg everyone. someone get the champagne.
well I need to go get some serious work done now. later guys.
21:36
As you're voting things just for the fun of it, would you mind to donate me these last 10p missing to reach 500? I'm stuck on 490 since yesterday... :( :P
@ByteCommander VTR'd
means what?
Vote2Resolve
usually it means voting on a good answer that wasn't accepted
Wait, I'll find some of mine...
there are tons of this!
there. broke 500
21:39
Hey, even 510!
first posts/late answer queues
Thanks guys! Will help you reviewing by now...
after that, you don't get anything fun till 2000. then 3000. then 10000, then 15000, then 20k
Yep, work never ends...

@ByteCommander want to help out SE?
if so, give an upgoat to this

21:47
@Whaaaaaat depends. By doing what?
Waaait..ads?

Anyone under 200 here?
I want to see these ads...

@Whaaaaaat Why?
commit Vim

Vi and vim

Proposed Q&A site for people using vi and vim

Currently in commitment.

2
IT'S COMMITTED! Vi & Vim might come to SE soon!
Actually, someone else did :)
21:51
now what
Goated. But what exactly did I do there? What is Vi & Vim??
Text editor in the console on linux
It's included pretty much everywhere, but it's got a steep learning curve (at least in my experience)
and lol first commit :D
Similar to nano, but much more complicated out of the box.
^
@Seth obligatory ping
21:57
Are there always that few review tasks for 500s?
not always
no
the new users queue can shoot up to 100+ at times
Yesterday I heard of a queue lenght far above 1k, and now even the Close queue is below that. Boring!
Any experience at which date/time people get active here?
So now we've got #DeflateGate on Twitter :P
lol @NathanOsman
look at the vim proposal
22:01
I saw it.
seth referred everyone!
I even cast a couple votes to help move it into commitment phase.
seth has so many referrals
@NathanOsman So I heard.
Kinda lost any love I had for the Patriots.
Yet another "scandal" if you will.
the entire superbowl sucks this year
22:08
Of all the teams in the NFL, I am closest geographically to the Seahawks, so... :)
:D
that was a disappointing game
That's how I feel about Hockey btw.. I'm closest to the Canucks :P
I'm not a Canucks fan!
(Though I live in their home city :P)
i don't even follow football
really, it's the superbowl and that's it.
22:09
What about the World Series?
I thought you Americans loved your baseball :)
oh, i do.
i'm a statistics analyst for a team :D
(Canada has one MLB team... we used to have two.)
MLB**
I know, I typed too fast :P
Not a big Baseball fan personally, but I know some.
22:10
Seth. Stop referring people to Vim.SE
@Whaaaaaat Lol.
hmm. Moderators.SE doesn't look good...
wait, it's community building now?
@Whaaaaaat One guy referred almost everyone in the teachers lounge to the moderators proposal. In the end it showed the collective rep at over a million.
all these failing area51 sites :(
22:32
The Visual Studio Express 2013 DVD is 6.5 GB. Oy.
@Seth - yeah XFCE is my daily driver.
the question in question is weird. i don't have a thumbdrive small enough to use exfat, everything i have uses ext3/4 or ntfs. i'll see if i can scrounge up some hardware though.
This and this for context.
@hbdgaf small enough? How big are your flash drives? o_O
4G and 16G both run NTFS.
Portal 2 is awesome :D
my external drive supported getting reformatted to ext4 so... i haven't ever had the need.
22:45
@hbdgaf interesting. Why NTFS over exFAT? Both of those would support it afaik.
My Windows server is responding to HTTP requests, but remote desktop isn't working :S
It's just how it shipped, and I've seen drives seem to fail because of reformatting and the controller or some piece of firmware not understanding another filesystem. So, when I can I just leave it alone.
@NathanOsman nmap or netcat or scapy to see if the port is open for starters...
Huh... it works from my Windows 10 VM...
So the problem is the linux client? Is it set not to accept weaker hashes? That could do it. The client you're using might expect "compatibility mode" to be enabled.
@RPi_Awesomeness that was less than constructive.
22:50
It's so weird. It was working fine, then I restarted, and now I can't connect.
Although IIS is still happily serving files.
That is sort of weird. Have you tried more than one client from the linux side?
I can connect to port 3389 via telnet.
And it doesn't quite work right in Windows even. It accepts the username/password, but doesn't connect. It just dumps me back to the login screen.
I'm going to try the Android Remote Desktop app now.
You just said it worked on Windows 10 VM
I spoke too soon after it accepted my credentials :(
Didn't wait for the desktop to come up.
Weird.
And now it works on Linux again.
Sigh...
dance widdershins and pray it's not random uncontrolled packet loss over some UDP protocol that some patch broke compensation inside.
22:59
Sounds reasonable.
;) Sounds reasonable doesn't make it right. It just makes it closer to right than "I have no idea what the hell is happening right now... headdesk." because it removes something from the playing field if you can prove it wrong.
Another option would be if your hardware is taxed further than it can stand during the auth process or just after - and somehow it forgets something. Then you could be stuck in a similar state. So, it could just be accidentally stress testing RDP.
I'm really liking this playlist btw
Oh I did forget to mention one important thing.
It was restarting after installing some updates.
So it could just have delayed the RDP service during startup for some strange reason.
Yeah, so some update broke something :). We covered that part. And now it's like "What happened!?!?!?!" I get people with that problem all the time. Think "Going for fast boot times, all my TSRs aren't fully loaded. My AV kills my browser functionality on my meager hardware unless I press the power button and go brew coffee." So go brew coffee.
I'ld reboot it again and see if you can reproduce for a window then it magically works. Then you know it's boot issues.
23:10
I don't think disabling the firewall is a good idea...
There was a project by some NSA type guys. They ran a distro where they basically said "we don't need firewalls. we need better services." I tipped my hat to that.
firewall isnt a hot item anymore
I don't run a firewall on my servers anyway.
But they aren't Windows servers.
Oo. Portal 2 just got back to the story part :D
@hbdgaf amen
23:15
There was an article I read a while back about removing the installation files for Windows components that weren't needed to free up disk space.
But now, for the life of me, I can't find the article.
ooh, now that is something I've never thought about.
@NathanOsman I've always thought that you should have all the installers available all the time. Just get a bigger disk for the convenience of disk-less adding something later. Who wants to insert the Windows disk to add a component that should have been installed in the first place?
That's what I wish I could do.
But I can't get a bigger disk without paying. And I can't pay on AWS since they don't accept prepaid credit cards.
It's a bit of a complicated scenario.
Good luck with that.
23:21
There's an outstanding request from 2010 on the AWS forums for prepaying :|
If they don't adapt to my needs, I don't use them. It's the same thing in dating, which is probably why I'm single. Zero tolerance for bullshit policy.
I missed it bro.
Forum for Music Fans in Commitment state (80%, 161/200 committers)
I don't think we need a QA site for that. Sorry.
Interesting idea.. not something I'm proficient in though ;)
@hbdgaf Did you see the vim site is in commitment?
I'm not a vim guy. So, not really interesting.
If I commit to a site, it's because I have at least one good unanswered question and at least one unannounced answer for a question someone I wish would have asked already.
23:29
Who was that guy always listening to Queen? Toroidal?
There was a discussion a couple of days ago about Queen in that Knight movie. It's just a thing. Not a question or an answer.
What do you think about the website that guy is linking to? (First post review) askubuntu.com/q/576724/367990
Neuro-toxins at a dangerous un-lethal level
hmm
23:34
good question.
Can't understand anything in arab (or whatever), but it looks kind of shifty... But the rest is a valid question. Any opinions? Else I'll pass it through.
Someone good with languages told me it looks like an English learning site.
Probably ok.
Okay. Portal 2 just took a turn I was not expecting. ... at all.
23:49
@Seth Okay, thanks!
@RPi_Awesomeness Why am I not surprised?
I'm off to bed now, time to saw some trees... Bye!
Finally!
I found that command.
Uninstall-WindowsFeature
(I think it's a PowerShell command.)
