OK, I managed myself to uninstall Ubuntu-desktop and here is my command to do it. Use it wisely as it will also remove Brasero and Compiz as well as all dependent packages.

I created How can I stop YaCy from starting when my machine starts? and was pointed to How to enable or disable services? as a general answer. Unfortunately I voted to close my own question before confirming that the answer did indeed work (it didn't), and it has since been confirmed as a duplica...
On askubuntu there is similar background-foramtting for Blockquote text and Preformatted (code) text.
Example-1 (with preformatted/coded text):
sudo apt-get update
Example-2 (with block-quoted text):
sudo apt-get update
So, It like similar formatting which may confuse between them.

I have gotten the package manager into the following situation and have tried all "automatic" fixes but they did not resolve it.
The following packages have unmet dependencies.
kolab-libcyrus-imap-perl : Conflicts: libcyrus-imap-perl
Conflicts: libcyrus-imap-perl22
...
Migration paths between UL and AU are not open that way. We all know each other anyway.
@Danatela How does the day find you anyway...
Also, I think an interesting addition to package management is a - dump error to graphviz dependency chain dot file. If it were added to say USC, it could be the app's killer feature instead of just a UI that is more user and less admin.
The last bit is sort of a feature request for package managers... it might exist for one of them that I don't know about, but it should be an obvious feature.
It was talked about on meta for a while (a troubleshooting tools package). Seems like concensus was "too complex to be trivial, not trivial enough to be treated as complex... Ugh."
@Danatela if you can build test cases, i can try to build the tool.
The launchpad bug reporting page would so read "if you can furnish a shell script to make an LXC container exhibit your problem that the tool doesn't find the root cause of properly, i'ld be happy to take a look at it" well, i wouldn't say that on launchpad... but I would want to soo bad.
I have installed ubuntu 13 and now I need to install windows 8 (dual boot).
But when i try to install windows it says "cannot install on GPT table". There view is shown on 'disk' on ubuntu. I need to install ubuntu on /dev/sda1.how can I fix it.

@jokerdino status?? never encountered such thing in AU account or any other SE site....When will it change?? i signed out and signed in but the same thing persists!
the result has (1.23.4.353.4.33.0/112.3.32.4.23.3). I only need the first part of this string to print once : 1.23.4.353.4.33.0 Then it's association ID to print once
@jokerdino punching myself in my face okay..very sorry to waste your time...Area51 interface is a bit different from other SE site interfaces...my bad...sorry again!
the numbers are random, the numbers are generated from input I would type in
So basically itll ask for the string: i type in 1.2.2.33.4.4.54.5 then asks me to enter the log file name: so i type in server.log. and Itll parse through server.log looking for that 1.2.2.33.4.4.54.5 and print out that and the association ID
I partially achieved it, but the problem is that the output keeps printing the string i type in endlessly, i need it to print once
I tried the exit command, that prints the same exact string endlessly, whereas before using exit, it would print everything associated with what i type in for the prompt
I've been trying to kill several birds with one stone by reviewing unanswered questions with the blacklisted installation tag. This has been effective thus far.
Unfortunately while editing this question I discovered this error:

This is gopikrishna. Here i want to upload my ruby on rails project in server. i bought a server space from globehost.org and domain name from Godaddy.com. my domain is www.gainforyou.in. Plz friends help me. I want it real. Here i'm using ubuntu12.04, ruby1.8.7, rails2.3.8.
Thanks with Advance.
@guntbert It's off topic 'cause it is completely OS agnostic, there's nothing about Ubuntu there. It is also too broad and unclear what you're asking. Take your pick :)
@guntbert Exactly. No idea what the server is running, and in any case, asking how to deploy a website is OT here, the details will always depend on the ISP.
The question My clock has disappeared is incorrectly marked as a duplicate of Ubuntu 12.04 gnome issue, no clock is shown, strange starter icon cannot be removed. Could someone who has the necessary reputation please vote to reopen the question, please?
There are several comments on the question...

i am trying to use print in the awk statement, but it can't detect the regex i am using, i know the regex is not bad. I tested it on rubular before coding it, but i have basically tried `awk /[expression]/ { print $1 $2 $3.....$30;} and I can never get it to print
i did an echo inside the for loop and it is infinite
Hi... trying to recover a dual-boot machine that is DOA. I took out the HD and connected it to another Ubuntu machine via USB and it does not automatically mount. Ideas?
@ryekayo [expression] means a character set, not a literal expression. In other words /[abc]/ will match a or b or c, not abc. You probably want awk /expression/{ print $1 $2 $3.....$30;}.
The dual-boot disk I am trying to recover is connected via a USB external drive. It is a SATA / USB box meant to connect SATA drives via USB as external drives.
hm... maybe swap the normal drive connector for a moment and try fixing from live disk/usb - that way you don' t mess up your normal setup by accident as well
Yeah. I find it particularly funny that it's a linux only app, because according to the description - they don't know anyone who could write a Windows or Mac driver ;)
