@Nathan - was just thinking about a possibility on your problem with gunicorn running away with resources. If cache-ing were set up to bypass the worker on the way back, but the worker thread still thinks it got asked to do work... that would explain your problem. It would also explain why supervisor didn't restart gunicorn. It's not dead, just unresponsive because it's out of resources to use in a timely fashion.
