@Rinzwind, Good look with your Ubuntu server answer!
can we add scripts to answers?
or text files
@blade19899 on it. found 2 errors already _O-
19:09
@Rinzwind add how?
@Rinzwind if you mean add so the script runs, there's a good reason that's not allowed.
ah damn it
kickstarter installing gives errors

Q: MAC Address changes after dirty shutdown

ZobalI'm having a strange issue which I originally thought was tied to the fact that I created an Ubuntu system from an image of another. However, after reinstalling Ubuntu from scratch I am getting the same behaviour. Basically whenever there is a dirty shutdown (power gets yanked) the MAC address ...

@ThomasW. naaa I meant like attachments/
@Rinzwind i don't think SE supports that. You can always paste the code into a code block though :P
god I'd give anything for diamondmod... I'm tired of seeing the Bridge flags and not being able to do squat about it
well...
not anything, certain things I'm not at liberty to give :p
lol, apparently was a stupid flag
19:15
yeah well i'm tired of seeing em
here I did it like this:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/409607/how-to-create-a-customized-ubuntu-server-iso/409651#409651
TBH "The Bridge" needs to go on lockdown, IMO, and have the CMs lurk in there, there's way too many flags from there
well, the chat flags are flawed
added images with the results
@ThomasW. err, you got Tim Stone, Shog and Grace Note...
19:16
didn't see them
having said this, that channel still has waaay too many flags
wait, my bad, Tim isn't CM, Pops is
still
actually that's the room with more diamonds per user in all SE
I hate software errors. stupid kickstart :(
@ThomasW. happy?
in The Bridge, 8 mins ago, by Grace Note
Alright guys, I think it's time for a lecture about flags.
19:26
yep
meh, maybe we all should attend
can I use colors in answer? >:)
@Braiam we missed it apparently :/
it was all of 3 lines
@jokerdino yeah
Did someone tell wilf to not troll the trolls?

Q: I have a 24 Gb disk and a 1Tb Hard Disk How do I get Ubuntu to install on my 24 GB and my home dir on the 1TB

KipkeI used the auto installer for Ubuntu on my 24GB drive my disk space looks like this. *not sure how image thing works but above are image links.

19:33
@blade19899 Your famous!
in The Bridge, 10 mins ago, by Arperum
@Yuki So you're basically offended by people being offended over you not being offended?
...
srly?
I don't like it when that happens to. Someone gets offended about something someone else said about me and I don't even care..
Not like that's ever happened that I know of.
btw, anyone used this: koding.com ?
@Seth yep?
why?
wanna in?
@Braiam Just curious. I've been looking for a good "Google Docs" style editing platform.. What do you think of it?
Why do people write letters on Stack Exchange?
err... I'm not totally sure what aspect of Google Docs you are talking about. Koding is a dev environment so you can test stuff live without having a local VM or install stuff in your local machine
damn that was a lot of work. Now to see if it actually installs
Please add comments identifying it as spam folks.
done all
Thank you :)
now upvote my ubuntu custom server answer :+)
that's spam too >:)
no need to mark more. he'll be deleted anyways :+)
hmm my dvd burner crashed :(
@Seth might as well poke the CMs but if we keep flagging as spam they get a heavier spam weight
@ThomasW. Yeah, just keep flagging.
@Seth killed
20:14
@Lucio awesome.
@Lucio that doesn't help
I know
Pops in stepping in.
But you need to have too bad luck..
Well it seems to have calmed down now.
My helpful flag count has jumped.
20:20
@Seth The system has to break with it in some point.
this needs more flags for it to be deleted
YAY I got a working custom server dvd :)
perfect
@ThomasW. I recommend you to remove that ;)
needs another flag: askubuntu.com/a/409798/10616
@Braiam Mind promoting me to diamondmod first?
20:23
@Lucio took 3 and 1/2 hours to get the answer finished :P
because E: Not Able To Delete
@Rinzwind oh my gosh
@ThomasW. I mean the oneboxing ;)
you deserve the bounty, no doubt
@Braiam again, E: Cannot Delete Or Modify
20:24
@Lucio wanna know what is worse?
what bounty? :D
or have you forgotten the editing system restrictions
@voretaq7 thanks for removing that
Question: another spam wave?
@Braiam answer: yes.
great...
We need to get a mod to undelete our spam room if this is going to keep happening.
20:25
yes I flagged 10 just now
@Seth that's not hard, there is a diamondmod here now
but meh
if anyone needs me to protect something just ask D:
goes back to fixing things elsewhere related to nginx

I gift bounty to answers that I'm not able to reach the bottom of the page. So..
20:26
@ThomasW. he wont' do it, just ask him. He doesn't want to interfere with another site when he doesn't know us :P
> I have a separate old desktop machine with 12.04 installed that has no wireless problems at all. So obviously the problem is wireless hardware compatibility in both 12.04.03 LTS and 13.04.
@Seth then the next option is to poke the CMs.
@Lucio lol
like Shog
20:27
UGH
@Lucio can you tell me how much more the answer needs to be for that to happen? :D
less than what is now, so bounty guaranteed.
I should make that a branch, "bounty guaranteed © 2014"
someone please, read this question askubuntu.com/q/336824/169736
20:29
LOL:
I have now successfully installed Ubuntu! I received further feedback from ASUS telling me that the X502A does allow you to disable Secure Boot and enable lagacy boot mode. I originally contacted them as I couldn't work out where one the BIOS options was; the subsequent e-mail exchange seems to have got a bit confused because, at least in hindsight, the solution is pretty obvious. I had to disable Secure Boot (the option I looked through initially) and Fast Startup and then restart the computer. I was then able to enable the legacy boot mode and launch the Ubuntu installer. Thanks, Andy — Andy Sep 22 '13 at 18:26
time for naruto. bbasap
so... PEBCAK?
This is useful: grc.com/passwords.htm
@Lucio trobador :P
20:36
@ThomasW. Doubt they'd do it either..
Next time a client tells me "I have a 4 digits password", I'll response with "Don't give it to me, I don't need it." because brute-force will be faster than spell it.
@Braiam yeah, I'd also remembered that one xD
@Lucio not if it's online :P
@Seth they were the ones that created it, AFAICT.
@ThomasW. Gilles created it, but Shog did show up for a bit.
and then jrg and (of course) marco.
O_O
20:58
see you all next time :+)
o/
How to ssh into a server?
I thought it was going to be simpler
ssh user@server
Before I need to do this
err... nope
if you have an user + password, you only need to ssh-away
@Braiam it doesn't work
but I'm not providing a password here: ssh user@server
21:03
what is the error?
ssh: connect to host *.com port 22: Connection refused
wrong user?
you sure it listen port 22?
no idea
....................................................................
you sure the server has a ssh server installed?
@Braiam it seems:
21:07
soooo am I just being stupid?
you sure is enabled/activated? run a nmap serverip to check, also, check the documentation in case you need to put another host
I have a usb card reader but nothing I put in it mounts
@rlemon you sure you have a card reader? lsusb?
however I can see the cards in gparted
shows up on lsusb
wut?
what filesystem?
21:08
Bus 002 Device 003: ID 05e3:0716 Genesys Logic, Inc. USB 2.0 Multislot Card Reader/Writer
one card has fat16, the other is a brand new card.
the brand new will not mount AFAIK, you need to format it (if it isn't)
same setup > but running Ubuntu from behind a VM in windows and it mounts it automatically when I give it the usb card reader
you can use gparted to mount stuff
as a separate but slightly related question: How can I get Ubuntu to recognize + read the QNX4 FS qnx.com/developers/docs/6.3.2/neutrino/user_guide/…
if possible.
@Braiam yes it is
21:12
X Y problem explained: I'm trying to copy a CF with QNX4 on it to another CF via Ubuntu
@Braiam and yes they are enabled
@rlemon did you try mount /dev/sdXY?
@Lucio but he's not listening, check the nmap output
@Braiam just mounted it with gparted
trying to dd -> hopefully it is just that easy
@Braiam nmap to where
oh, port 22
the server
21:15
I can do FTP, donno if that helps
@Braiam what is the full command?
nmap -A path is enough?
nmap yourserver.com should be enough
STATE: closed :(
Why did I removed that O.O
It is likely open, just the ssh daemon is not running on the server.
and what can I do?
You have only that web interface to interact with the server?
21:22
yep
Then not much I would say. Dunno why it didn't activate ssh.
@Seth i hate fame :/
Well a quick skimming of the chats messages here, and i see that the spamming didn't stop when i left.... :(
@blade19899 that is a good signal :P
jk
@Lucio lol, just realized that xD
lol:
Just don't imagine them all naked. Trying to give a presentation with an erection would just be embarrassing. — James 23 secs ago

@blade19899 what about your site?
Did you reformed it?
21:32
@Lucio when did i tell you guys that :/
not yet
Internet..
have a beta, on my server in a dir, but its password preotected, cause its seriously not finished.
lol yeah internet
Should have known xD
I can't wait to see it finished.
I like your designs
Actually its finished appearance, and layout, but not really full on features
Really?
the current one?
@blade19899 the last one that I've visited
^ amazing episode
21:34
never seen that one!
but this is my current layout: www.eurobytes.nl
next one has responsive design features...
@blade19899 no, really? That specific one is just great!
@blade19899 yeah that one :)
Thanks
@Lucio Wanna see a screenshot of my next layout?
:O
Gimme a sec...
amazing, nice bg
21:38
responsive features are working, and layout is alright. But, little to low on features.
I'll wait to see the responsive features :D
@blade19899 btw, thanks :)
@Lucio hahaha, coming soon in February
> A Windows application to report events of a basketball match written in C#
¬¬
Are you that big of a basketball fan? xD
hehehehhe
ROTFL
@blade19899 it is a funny app!!
21:41
@Lucio, you wrote a book and put it on Github?
all in .md! nice!!
WTF?
When did I did that?
@rlemon sounds to me like fuse isn't polling the card reader for new block devices. you could try unplugging and replugging the usb adapter with the card already in it. might be a finicky driver...
Oh right, the Internet.
Was it a fork of @jrg's book so you could submit and edit or something? they seem to be in the same vein.
21:43
F5
Yeah, I've contributed to it.
Ey you deleted it...
For some reason I needed to fork, maybe pull request.
That's what I was saying...
@Lucio you should add a screenshot of the timeout app.Would love to see it.
21:45
Are you sure? It's 100% C#
@Lucio - did I tell you about CamCastic?
no you didn't
Alright. Got my presentation ready! gonna fail, big time. So, good night folks!
@Mateo wanted me to port a webcam on screen app up to python3 (for putting a selfie stream on a slideshow screencast or whatever). Converted. Ran in to loads of usability issues that may or may not have been present in the original. Re-writing the base UI of the app now, then dropping in the converted functionality and adding features.
It's here: github.com/mateosalta/CamCastic-Desktop still very much a work in progress though. I tend to do one many tick marks commit instead of committing early and often.
21:58
So you are talking to me
Yes
@blade19899 take care!
@Lucio I just pinged him so he saw the conversation
ok
Now I see
Sorry if that was confusing. I have a couple of other "apps in progress"... but nothing super-awesome yet.
22:04
but it is a useful app
I tried to make python app with windows GTK or something like that
but there were compatibilities issues and I left it
And now seriously gotta sleep
Bye!
o/
@Lucio This works fine. Won't be portable to Windows though since it uses V4L devices and Appindicator3 (don't get me started on that last bit)
right
If I get all the features/issues sorted out, I want to do simple screengrabbing with output to common free video hosting containers as well. Kind of replace GtkRecord...
22:15
Yeah, you could do lot of things with that.
Its python!
Fair enough. I just wish it depended on core pygi instead of appindicator. Qt app indicators work everywhere. Pygi indicators work everywhere except Unity. Appindicator3 only works on Linux afaict.
Ok seriously last time before i go to sleep: tell them to stop chatting whit the spammer: askubuntu.com/questions/409832/…
BYE!... seriously!
@blade19899 I don't see an edit history on that question...
To tired to understand what you mean. But, the spammer is now engaging an argument with the other users: askubuntu.com/a/409838/36315
Crazy, I though it was just a bot.
@blade19899 go to sleep
don't worry about spam
We have flags!
22:24
@Lucio, thanks. Good night.
it already has 5-7 downvotes and is invisible to low rep users. just let it die its painful death
22:40
@hbdgaf do you know who to setup htaccess in nginx?
22:53
I didn't need htaccess. It's sort of not necessary with the way I use django. I'm sure it's Google-able though.
@Mateo - the about window is working. Moving in more windows/functionality now.
Sweet!
I'm thinking about the first commit of the change holding a "Reworked.py" or something for testing instead of just overwriting it though, so you can play with it first.
23:19
@hbdgaf hm, I like messing around with stuff :)
I don't. I like one and done.
@hbdgaf but now I'm with PHP :(
@Lucio I'm sorry.
np
I hate apache..
2
And PHP.
I don't mean I'm sorry I didn't know, I meant I'm sorry you're using PHP.
8
23:22
thanks
23:34
@Mateo - here's the working copy pastebin.com/WZ3GYJuG
I need to setup this with .HTACCESS. If someone knows who, let me know.
@hbdgaf looks good - the config window disappears into oblivion on minimize ;)
bet there is a simple window flag for that
