If you have a suggested edit, that is spam, and links to a malicious site, here is what you can do:

Q: Where to report malicious URLs, phishing, and malicious web sites?

supercobraI recently discovered that my web site was hacked: there was a HTML hidden div selling about shoes... I Googled the text in question and voila: thousands of sites have been hacked. Check this out: Google 'There is also hang tag made of leather, a slip pocket to put cards' and go to the sites in...

And, don't know where to save them with owncloud
@Braiam do we now close all historical list Q as too broad or opinion based? Why not dupe it to askubuntu.com/questions/48299/…?
@Takkat I'm going to close that other one...
This seems like an overly broad topic. My answer would be: Software Center > DevelopmentMarco Ceppi Jun 12 '11 at 4:46
actually I'm in awe that Marco didn't close it already
@Takkat btw, that is asking for "the best" or "good"
@Braiam so you close the IDE Q as a dupe of a too broad question... hm
nope, I close both as too broad ;)
20:31
But it's a rather popular question, 26k views is a lot
popularity doesn't means that is a good question ;)
Those big list Q's fills a niche
Poeple want a list of there options
They may not be generally allowed. But, It would be stupid to close and or delete them.
well, personally I do like questions that give an overview of existing applications. I might not be the only one.
leaving it open doesn't hurt anything, it's got the warning thing on the top already
it's not like it's in the unanswered queue
Leaving it open lets it get more and more answers.. Which it doesn't need.
20:33
True.
Why do people think closing == very bad?
2
@Seth, more answer is that a bad thing?
Leaving it open means that when we want to close new ones they will ask "but why that other didn't got closed?"
closed doesn't means that it will get deleted, it just means that our scope is getting more narrow
@blade19899 Yes, it just makes more of a mess. It least give them a historical lock anyway.
@Braiam That too.
@Braiam, thanks for the clarification
20:36
examples of questions that are extremely popular and are still there but closed stackoverflow.com/search?q=views%3A100000+closed%3Ayes
@seth not all available apps are in the software center. Having a list with ALL options is good IMO
So closed just means there can be no further Answer added?
our closed popular questions are duplicates mostly askubuntu.com/search?q=views%3A50000+closed%3Ayes
@blade19899 ALL OPTIONS?!?!?! Y U SO MAD??!?!
apt-cache search "what you want" FTW
I am not mad... am actually tired and stressed(job interview in the morning)

or software center search, or package search or google...
boiling it down to the bone if you are asking for a "list", then your question is no good for SE

and that no similar questions should not be asked...
agree

how can I see which drivers are set to auto mount?
on every start up I get an warning/error about some drive not being able to mount or no existing, than it asks me to press 'S' to skip or 'M' to manually mount, i just skip it. I do nto know know what is going on with it. I would like to fix it
@NathanOsman Sweet!
btw, did you see my message in the spam handle?
@JebediahKerman check your fstab
@Seth Yes.
how do I check myfstab?

@NathanOsman Okay. Mateo would do a good job too.
@JebediahKerman if you get stuck, ask it as a question on the site and point to where you're stuck on the wiki ... then the changes refinements could be merged in to the wiki. wins all around.
I am not using a wiki
@Seth I think he's already been added.

not sure whats its doing though
@Seth Sorry. I misread what you wrote.
Puts on better glasses.
can I delete the non-comment part of my fstab? will that make it stop trying to automount 2 things on start-up?
on start up I always get 2 wanrings/erros about some driver not existiing
Hey, I have a question regarding upgrading. I've been getting an error whilst upgrading saying I'm gonna have to do a partial upgrade. Terminal upgrade gives this:
The following packages have been kept back:
libvlc5 linux-generic linux-headers-generic linux-image-generic vlc vlc-data
vlc-nox vlc-plugin-notify vlc-plugin-pulse
@JebediahKerman you don't go around deleting things in fstab willy nilly. read your dmesg logs, re-read the wiki, and comment out a line instead of deleting it so you can fix it if you bork up the wrong thing...
is there a GUI method?
I have no idea what the fstab is saying
22:10
not that i would use... i don't trust gui's for things like this.
@RPiAwesomeness it just means you need dist-upgrade instead of upgrade to get those packages.
@NathanOsman That's OK :)
@hbdgaf Ah. Danke :)
@RPiAwesomeness pas de probleme
@hbdgaf What...?
Ahh, yeh.
I was confused by that at first too.
22:13
@RPiAwesomeness you said something like thanks in another language ... i said no problem in a third.
Oh :)
Oui Oui
I updated my fstab. now on start up its only trying to auto mount 1 drive, it still fails though
this sit eh part from my fstab
UUID=b262335e-be9f-44ca-869a-25fb4ea0c87c / ext4 errors=remount-ro 0 1

check your dmesg again, rinse, repeat
@RPiAwesomeness Take a look at this article: debian-administration.org/articles/69
Explains the nitty gritty.
how can I find out which drive it is?
22:16
blkid. you could try searching the site first.
@Seth Gracia
*Gracias
I commented out the part of the fstab and it works fine, it no longer throws an error on start up
@RPiAwesomeness No problema :)
@Braiam around?
@Seth Hey...that's not a new language. pouts
22:22
@Seth maybe...
@Seth you know you can do this?
looks like I got my drive to auto mount just fine now. weird that the gui tool did not work though
@Braiam Right I had forgotten.
so I just gave myself permission for an external harddrive
its created a a new folder called 'lost+found'
is that normal?

Q: Running Linux Install with nodmraid

Mr UniverseI have a hard drive with multiple partitions. I think this is causing the linux installer (Ubuntu) to crash. I found in multiple sources that the most common fix is to run the installer with the nodmraid option. Being completely new to Linux, I have no idea where, when and how to do that. How do...

A: Pre-stop stanza ignored for gdm during shutdown

user235403Without looking at your gdm.conf file, I would suggest you might need to add a line like stop on runlevel [016] If it is not already present in your config.

I'm looking at building a PC and I'm trying to be as cost-effective as possible. The current build I have has a 500W PSU, but the build only requires about 250W...Here's the build link: pcpartpicker.com/p/2AGMU Do I really need 250 extra W?
@RPiAwesomeness: some overhead is generally good
even 250W?
in addition 450-500w is a bit of a sweetspot
(its the most common size)
22:48
or will the price stay about the same?
if I get a lower one..
I suspect it'll be around the same
and blah, pcpartpicker is down for me
Ah. Yeah, its down for me to
(that said, if I wasn't too picky over quality, I can get a 450w psu for ~20 dollars ;p)
@JourneymanGeek Thanks, hey you know how to search for large files on Ubuntu via command-line? I've got a 100GB hdd and space is getting very tight.

23:20
@blade19899 I think there are more pressing matters in the questions like "Lucid LTS" ;) askubuntu.com/q/397528/169736
23:38
@RPiAwesomeness Power problems are next to impossible to troubleshoot well... overshoot the mark by a mile is my recommendation.
like i spec-ed a system once to match pretty tight, and it wouldn't POST because of the video card power draw on boot. tried a weak PSU just for the video card. worked until it was under load, then i got really weird kernel panics. overshoot it or buy stock in asprin.
