write markdown, run it through their system, and awesome comes out.
right.
made any money off the book?
jrg
jrg
i really need to do some updates for it.
yeah
lemme find the number
100% royalties eh? that's great.
jrg
jrg
i did the math, i get about 5 cents an hour that I spend on the book.
yeah, i don't split it with anyone directly from leanpub.
do they advertise the book anywhere?
jrg
jrg
17:04
they don't, other than their leaderboard.
how does it compare with other self-publishing platforms?
jrg
jrg
haven't used anything else, but this was a piece of cake.
yeah, markdown makes it easy
jrg
jrg
it uses dropbox as the upload medium.
so I wrote a small shell script
that cp'ed the files from my git repo
to the dropbox directory.
do they provide printing + delivery services for a hardbook?
17:09
is there a question about accessing ext4 partitions from windows? askubuntu.com/q/342891/169736
I think there is, but it should be off-topic.
jrg
jrg
@jokerdino no. you can however get a PDF that is in the right format for createspace and similar sites.
@Braiam there used to be, at least
@jrg you mean, you can self-publish across a bunch of sites? O_o
jrg
jrg
and they have a (beta) indesign exporter.
@jokerdino yeah, so i publish my ebook on leanpub
and do my hardcopies on createspace.com
and sell kindle editions on amazon
(if I so chose to)
I haven't done anything except the first one.
ah, cool.
jrg
jrg
17:11
it's very nice. you aren't locked in at all.
I distributed PDFs via CDs for an event (different book that isn't public)
i guess it is way better than traditional publishing
for indie authors at least
jrg
jrg
coincidence? I THINK NOT. Thanks whoever just bought my book. :)

I rebuilt a VAIO windows system today
17:30
@AmithKK so, you did a remake of windows?
Nope
It was time consuming
Actually getting all the vaio drivers to work
None of them are signed
There are different versions of them scattered across SONY's site :P
And you know what?
17:33
huh?
I booted up Linux Mint(Only had that liveusb).
Everything worked seamlessly
No drivers
No specifics
All of it just worked on linux
lucky :P
and yet "Sony Recommends Windows"
it normally works just fine in old systems
jrg
jrg
yeah, not unusual.
17:34
It's not really old
2nd gen Core i3
It's a VAIO SVT1313 ENS
Most linux distros work well on the onboard Intel HD 3000 Graphics
He messed up the system by following some msconfig tutorial on windows
turned some process count from like 0 or 1 to 4000
and that gave him a Bluescreen
BAD_SYSTEM_CONF or something
On every mode
Just stating that, It's a good laptop for people who want to use linux out of the box
lol
The laptop fell from his mom sometime before
and while booting into mint, I got many ATA errors
but the SMART status and Benchmark show that the Disk is OK
So, anything to warn him about?
@Braiam ¬_¬
So, ciao
Good Night
BBT
Good Night

E325: ATTENTION

be careful not to end up with two different instances of the same

(2) An edit session for this file crashed.
sudo apt-get purge teamviewer && sudo apt-get clean && sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install -f && sudo apt-get install ia32-libs && sudo apt-get install teamviewer
E486: Pattern not found: php phpinfo();
A friend of mine has decided to dual boot their Windows with Ubuntu. (Don't worry, this isn't a install problem) They can boot up into Windows fine but when booting into Ubuntu they just hear the login noise but do not see anything on the screen. It's an NVIDIA 660 graphics card if that could be helpful.
18:51
@Andrew do this
gksudo nautilus

then browse to /var/www
They changed quietsplashed to nomodeset

SlyI've made a copy of the basic config and added the line: NETIF="ifname=eth0,bridge=br0" When I create a new machine and enter it I can't make the network adapter work yet creating an instance from the basic config (and same template os) and then applying: vzctl set 101 --netif_add eth0,,,,br0...

@Andrew the others also have dependencies
