Q: NetworkManager connection sharing doesn't seem to NAT packets

l0b0After setting up network sharing the easy way on the Ubuntu machine, and getting an IP address via DHCP on the Arch Linux machine downstream, the Arch machine is able to ssh to the Ubuntu machine and resolve DNS, but not communicate with the Internet (ping, pacman time out). From the Arch Linux m...

@mojo706 oh, hidden layers... I know I've had problems converting to pdf with hidden layers, might make a difference re-hiding those
ok they are there @mojo706
Oh Good. I didn't try re-hiding the layers :(.
@mojo706 certain layer effects might not transfer over... and I haven't tried testing groups...
00:12
I have a couple of layer groups let me see
@Mateo the layers still aren't being displayed correctly :(

@RolandiXor the tag excerpt doesn't allow markdown (apparently)

@mojo706 do you have the file I could access like on a Ubuntu one share folder?
@mojo706 later then.

@Braiam People learn a lot following the good people actions. If you do a great edit, them will take your action as the way, the correct way.
@Lucio I edited the other answer :/
You did the right think.
@Mitch did you received the bounty? I wasn't sure if the answer was yours :D

Q: Can we get review auditioning for the review queues? (First post and late answers at least)

BraiamI just checked out a user that has access to the First Post review queue, and the amount of "No action Needed" sentences to crappy questions were something to be ashamed. I don't want to think that someone else is leaving all that crap without a single action (be comment, edit, vote, flagging, wh...

08:27
@mojo706 XD
good point :P

hehehe
clears review queue
does the review queue still need minimum 500 rep?
I don't think so
08:43
@mojo706 yes, according to this: askubuntu.com/help/privileges/access-review-queues.
You don't get access to all of the queues though. You'll need to hit 3k to get the Close Vote and Reopen Vote queue.
Why the hell is this question protected by Community: askubuntu.com/questions/252522/…?
I once accessed the review queue with 100 rep :D, I got a silver badge that week. Sigh the good old days
Oh wow, okay.
Never knew it was accessible from 100 rep.
It was look at my current rep it wasn't that long ago :D. But I understand why they moved it to 500 rep.
its surprising I've been a member of AU for 2 years Lol I don't know what I've been doing hehe
Oh yeah. Nice.
I found out that I actually also reviewed this "self-site evaluation" queue. I have no recollection of what that was =D.
@mojo706 LOL. I've been here for more than a year but I've only been active recently.
Haha, if I look at my reputation graph, it's three quarters empty =D.
08:58
@Alaa hehe
I'm going to move back to the default Ubuntu theme and Icons. I've played around too much :p
I've played around too much with my Ubuntu, I have lots of bugs!
1: the file manager now always launches in the background.
2: every time I close a window, Unity kind of "refreshes" the panel at the top which slows down my laptop if I have lots of things running.
3: I have a gazillion PPAs that I don't even need.
4: My apt-get upgrade wants to upgrade weird packages that I don't even remember installing =D.
I'm just waiting for 13.10 to release and I'll just install it.
hahaha I realized Ambiance is just beautiful :D
you've got till October why not try a Beta
@mojo706 I want to. But what happens when the official one releases? Is there like an option to "upgrade" to it?
I don't like upgrade though, I'd rather do a fresh install =/.
@Alaa yes there is an option to upgrade to the latest stable. I also don't do upgrades I just do a fresh install
Ok I moved back to Ambiance :D. I realize now that I had strayed.
09:20
@mojo706 Did you get you problem solved?
@Mitch yeah. but for some reason chkdup didn't get any duplicates
09:46
That's really strange !
09:59
I know it gave quite the headache about 15 dupes where'd they come from? But its all good

what is good for ?
12:47
@Alaa my guess is view count. high view count might be a metric in protecting questions.
@Alaa when the official release happens you magically get it since the version number/codename stays the same. there's no "saucy-alpha" keyword in your ppa listing so it just sort of happens and you're running stable.

no idea. i'm a lazy american that doesn't need translations. sorry
@EliahKagan yes, it should really be left out.

@Braiam What's the "G" Icon?
Grammarly.
i hate trying to find the ubuntu package for a perl module. anyone have a map of these things? i hate__perl
Can't locate Net/Whois/ARIN.pm in @INC
perl blows. i could sort it out if it was written in a real language whose sole purpose wasn't regexs
@Braiam Nothing wrong with posting those comments on posts by experienced / high-rep users. However, in this case, I don't think that's really a link-only answer; Jorge Castro summarized the important points by saying what driver to select. (It might be more appropriate to post a custom comment requesting further explanation.)
18:09
@EliahKagan I read the link, and the comment wasn't appropiated, it was just a "gem" of AU
also Jorge might not have 20k rep back then
18:23
there's a problem when it's easier to install freebsd and a tool than it is to sort out dependency crap on ubuntu. calming down and shutting up now.
18:45
@Braiam I am too lazy to look it up: what is your take on askubuntu.com/review/suggested-edits/155771 (looks weird to me)
nvm, I rejected it
@Braiam the answer tells the person exactly what to do
select the Canon bjc-7000 driver
@guntbert it needs the install
@JorgeCastro don't worry, I was just saying~~ :P
@Braiam, ok

so, i'm keeping my offer to skellat open, but it sounds like you and jono have it covered. :)
anyway, wanted to give you a heads up on who this stranger offering money is. :P
what's the difference between this and this answers?
heh no problem
there's a community budget that teams can apply for that comes from the donations from the ubuntu download page
I just don't think he remembered that any team/person can apply for that
jrg
jrg
i was thinking it was more of a timing thing.
"OH CRAP IT"S A WEEK TO THE CONFERENCE AND WE NEED TO PAY FOR A BOOTH"
/me nods
after we sort this we should remind all the loco leads that they can apply for the money
jrg
jrg
19:17
i mean, i'm happy to give the money in exchange for a little 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper with my crummy logo and the website. ;P
that sits somewhere buried under the rest of the stuff on the table.
but if the downloads page can pay for it, then great.
There are some actions that I don't understand.
Example, why this answer received Downvotes but this other one with less content doesn't
I just don't get it >.<
@Lucio did you verified the statement?
@Lucio also, he want's an local app like Skype (no browser dependant), you are offering a plugin... maybe that's why

Hello All
Can Anyone help with this? askubuntu.com/questions/342276/…
@Mitch i suspect he's being dense. you shouldn't remove then add, you should upgrade in place
the intel graphics installer is not compatible with 12.04 - intel only support 13.04
@Mitch I bet he got a warning of apt-get that he has to type "Do as I say" or something like that...
boo on the removal of xmir support. it makes me sad my new-ish laptop has intel instead of blob drivers

mine is an optimus, so i'm screwed no matter what.
the only question is, what we have to buy to no be screwed?
check out the github when you get a chance. i'm coming along with the kali alternative that runs on mainline
@fossfreedom Version 1.0.1 is. 1.0.2 supports only 13.04. I have used it on 2 on the units that I have, with Intel Graphics, and it worked OK.
I'm missing something here askubuntu.com/q/342337/169736 ?

@Mitch the best and only recommended route is to use the HWE's as they are released.
@fossfreedom No argument there
@Mitch - there are 3 answers on this one - not many votes on them - so dont know if any of them will help the OP - askubuntu.com/questions/280593/…
Guys.. this question can be closed. I got fed-up with this issue and decided to do something a little drastic - I simply upgraded to 12.10. It's resolved my issue for now. — ClarifyLinux Apr 12 at 13:43

@Lucio mmm... what I say exactly? I'm just pointing out that OP asked for a browser independent client and you gave him a browser dependent plugin, and that's why probably the answer gets downvotes
That is crap.
well, I'm only making assumptions

@Mateo Got one.
It seems to happen a lot..
how are you doing? i'm making progress on my stuff. hopefully your things are the same. what's the link?
23:45
@Mateo Wow.. a lot more than I thought.
search, second and third are the spam
I just searched to most recent "fix"
@hbdgaf not bad, got multi boot running nice, thanks for the links ( are you still looking for a body pillow :)) switched mainly to CyanogenMod
@Mateo cyanogen has its benefits. i like multiboot though.
i moved on to other stuff since the mobile space still seems to fractured to be useful consistently
yeah the driver situation for touch isn't so good
I don't mean drivers. My stuff works, but until everyone's stuff works you're targeting a broken market. It's like trying to sell cars to the homeless.
What nexus model do you have ( I have grouper, so sound and turning the screen are broke on the touch image) unless making the image manually could fix that...
