Now that was a monologue!

@fredsbendtheGrinch Do you see nothing racist in your comment?
I agree with you that violence does not solve problems, and that those who choose violence only harm themselves. And I agree that the pen is mightier than the sword.
But there's more to this story than that. There is an element of racism in Charlie Hebdo's criticism. They never targeted radical Islam; they have consistently targeted all Islam (and, in fact, all religion).
In doing so, they helped create a culture that marginalized mainstream Muslims--those who might otherwise have been able to neutralize the toxic effects of radical Islam.

And again, I'm not saying that the Charlie Hebdo staff deserved to be murdered. But I am saying actions don't happen in a vacuum.
To the extent that Charlie Hebdo and others choose racism and ridicule over reason, they are contributing to violent conflict.

@fredsbendtheGrinch Are U.S. Christian and white sub-cultures non-violent? The culture that spawned the KKK, the Posse Comitatus, the Branch Davidians, the Montana Freemen, the Christian Identity movement? That's your idea of a non-violent culture?
Was Ted Kaczynski content to respectfully disagree? Or Randy Weaver? Or Timothy McVeigh? Or Warren Jeffs?
