Isn't this: How to change Terminal Title in ubuntu 16.04 a duplicate of this: How to change Gnome-Terminal title?. I was forced to post answers in both questions.

@WinEunuuchs2Unix forced by whom? anyway, now that it’s closed as a duplicate you should remove your duplicate answer IMO

6:47 AM
how many times did you post the same answer over the network? I can’t find a meta post, but I think that’s frowned upon.

@Rinzwind Point
Videonauth disagreed it was...
@JoshuaBesneatte I was sleeping...

@TheLittleNaruto Yeah...

Hi, thanks i checked it out and the error was i that there was a conflict in my user and root user directory. When i deleted and reinstalled chrome settings were not getting deleted from root directory. It was solved when i manually deleted all of them. — Vinayak Shrivastava May 16 at 23:02

Why is a q from 20 h ago shown as “Asked today”? (e.g. askubuntu.com/q/1164779/507051)

7:41 AM
@TheLittleNaruto Yeah.
@dessert It is showing 20 hours ago.

@Kulfy not sure how to delete them manually

@Kulfy ^ not for me

@dessert Well that would show "today" even if question was asked minutes ago (askubuntu.com/questions/1164914/…)

@Kulfy yes of course, but is it really so dumb as to still show “today” hours after midnight? I can’t find the timezone SE is using, but I guess it’s UTC?

@TheLittleNaruto Do you have /root/.config/google-chrome/?

7:48 AM
for me, a q asked minutes ago was asked today, but any q asked more than 09:48 h ago was asked yesterday

May be for them 24 hours make a day. Well it's still Aug 10 in Alaska. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Q: What time zone do SO's servers operate in?

mattWhat time zone do Stack Overflow's servers operate in? I noticed that it couldn't be my time zone, or the ones before me (I'm in North American Eastern Time), because I logged into SO earlier today (around 12 pm), then I logged in just a few minutes ago (around 8 pm), then about a minute later I...

UTC it is, so it’s a bug.

MSE to the rescue

I bet it says “yesterday” the moment it’s been 24h since the question was asked, which is plain wrong and very poor programming. It should say “asked less than a day ago” instead if that’s true, but that’s not really useful of course.

Yeah that makes sense.

8:20 AM
@Kulfy You know Python ? And web deployment things ?

I know Python but not web deployment things.

No problem .

@dessert A question asked more than 24h ago is yesterday

@dessert Ah.

@Kulfy This one

@Fabby IMO this is more specific question and the target is generalized one. Consider a new user who just want pip and want to know why it isn't with python like Bindoz, they might not want those dpkg commands and explanations. Just my point of view.

morning. Is this askubuntu.com/questions/1164857/… legal?

9:45 AM
@Fabby exactly ;)
@Bahamut We’re not the internet police, so I think that’s the wrong question. It is on-topic and anybody who doesn’t want to support OP because those downloads may or may not be illegal is free to downvote or refrain from answering.
A related question is this, but it’s not exactly the same:

Q: Questions that refer to using or installing ripped/pirated software

fossfreedomI note in the comments to this Question, that the user is using ripped software. umm, I just copied the folder of the game to my home folder.. thats it.. should I download the installation and install it? because I have ripped version of GTA that has no installations but files to extract ...

@Bahamut For the mentioned “Dino Crisis” google gives a ton of download sites, and they don’t end in .ru – there seem to be great number of ps1 games free to download, so in any case this question would be useful for non-pirates.
free to download legally, I mean ;)
@Bahamut you were referring to the possibly illegal game downloads, weren’t you?

10:02 AM
@dessert yes I play also PS1 games with pcsxr that I ripped, but I have original CD's, so I was unsure.
but I don't make a drama, I ignore the question.

@Bahamut downloading a game doesn’t mean one doesn’t own it (in any way), sometimes I download an older game for which I just know I have the CD anywhere, but can’t find it, and then my laptop doesn’t have a CD drive and I’d have to use my wife’s machine, and ripping takes its time as well… a download is much less hassle in a case like that, and as I do own the software it is not illegal.

Sometimes I wonder why youtube-dl is on-topic. Isn't asking for downloading copyrighted videos for free?

@dessert Free games are fun too!cc @Bahamut

10:31 AM
@Kulfy I only download some video sequence from games, that I have. I'm a typical german. anything that is not marked allowed, is forbidden :D

@Fabby done, all but the one you cleaned

@dessert Thank you. List is much shorter now.
Damn Frankfurters!

@dessert what would the German expression be for "Plain vanilla / Spammy / "?
(in Flemish; literally translated it would be "Einheitswurst" (=no variety))

I just saw I got +200. I thought @Fabby awarded a bounty on one of my old answers. But I found someone is serial voting my answers. Waits for voting corrected notification

@Kulfy Someone must've liked that very first answer a lot...
(and doesn't know better that it's better to vote thrice in a row than 20 times in a row)

It's more than 20. I got +200 because of daily reputation limit.
I think someone's trying to get me in suspicion. -_- (I know this won't affect anything)

There was a time when I received serial downvoting on SO; because I didn't/couldn't help someone.

@Fabby I wonder answering "Yes" to which questions gives us those many upvotes ?

Meta post.
Lemme dig it up

My shortest answer got 100+ votes, but that too is of 2 lines in total.
not just a single word
@Fabby Okay sure

@TheLittleNaruto This one
@TheLittleNaruto 10 votes and 100 rep or 100 votes and 1000 rep?

@Fabby Ok I'll post an answer.
@Fabby 100+ upvotes

@TheLittleNaruto Yeah, found it

11:59 AM
@Fabby ye that one

@TheLittleNaruto No, please don't...

@Fabby It is not allowing me to post. :(

@Fabby I had no downvotes in a long time tho :)

@Videonauth Already upvoted that one.
It took me 4 years to get my first 100+ votes here

And it took less than a year to cross 20k+

@Videonauth More correct

good one :D

@Bahamut :D :D :D

@Fabby of course you didn’t need a color for “what others actually know”, because that’s nothing :D

@dessert Nah: I'm pretty good at guessing what others know.
I can figure out the creative problem solvers from the due diligent problem solvers every day.
I mean: A senior NEtwork engineer asked me last Thursday to give him guidance when I've been doing that for 3 monbths already and had to tell him:
@dessert Look, I used to be a System Architect 20 years ago but you're the Senior Site Reliability engineer now. That thing there is not reliable and the only guidance I can provide now is to lock you and the other guy in a cage and put pizza outside the cage and only let you both out after you've both solved the problem.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
People tend to forget I'm just a damn suit nowadays...

Problem solving needs sometimes a special kind of analytical mindset.

12:25 PM
It doesn't: it needs creative thinking. The best problem solvers in IT I've ever met were all Musicians, Biologists, Chemists, ...

@Fabby oh well im about as creative as a tin can so I guess I can't apply :D
;)

@Videonauth You can still solve problems!!! But you cannot solve problems where 3 guys came before you and were all baffled by it and then you solved it in 5 minutes flat.

depends I guess then

(The first one needs an analytical mind, the second one a creative one) I might be wrong about your skills though! and you might be #2... I dunno: you tell me.)

at least I passed your test last time

12:29 PM
@Videonauth :D True!
It's just that this thing I'm leaving behind in the old company bothers me: no one can solve it...
(Random ARP problem)

well i guess you would not leave the old company if not for your own health and maybe even better pay I suppose
But with everything we humans do not really like change when we have settled somehow in a daily routine

@Videonauth My previous job was anything but routine
I got given all the projects where the boss thought: I have no bloody clue what they want. Let's give it to Fabby and he'll figure it out and complete it successfully.

Q: How often is [frequency] useful?

Eliah KaganWe have 51 questions tagged frequency. This seems like an extremely general, cross-cutting concept that isn't useful as a tag. However, most questions tagged frequency are questions about CPU frequency. The tag has no tag wiki. We also have a cpufreq tag. Some questions currently have both tags....

Q: Where are my copied files?

hddfsck777I copied files from my USB drive using the "dd" 'if/of" command. Output shows success, equal in and out# of records, and less total GB available on HDD where I saved them to, but files are nowhere to be found. Ubuntu os.

4:16 PM
@EliahKagan Call me a nitpicker (and you’ll be right), but I really think we should stick to the q&a style especially on meta. The last paragraph of your meta question should be an answer, or upvotes to the q can mean “this is a problem we need to address” or “I agree to your solution” and there’s no way we can distinguish these two.
The meta question as it is will only get an answer if someone totally disagrees with your suggestion and wants to make an opposing one, and as that’s unrealistic the q will stay unanswered, with some half opinionated half-answers in comments maybe and a bunch of votes with unclear meaning.

4:28 PM
I think a poster should use the question for the question (asked as objectively as possible) and, if they have a solution in mind, self-answer. this way the meaning of votes is totally clear and we get a picture what the community thinks – that’s why one asks at meta after all.

@dessert forced by my conscience. When I see my answer is better than the others (it probably isn't but I'm biased) I'm forced to post an answer. If the duplicates were closed to the major question then I would only have to post one answer. The word "forced" doesn't always mean at gun point :P

@WinEunuuchs2Unix this other question is very different and too broad oO
take a look at the history, I actually had it (hammer-)closed against the usual “set terminal title” questions, but OP’s case is not exactly the same and OP wanted to change not only the title
