I love Kotlin
you can put:

fun String.function() { //doSomething with the String instance as 'this' }

And then call `stringInstance.function()`

Q: When reviewing answers, how can I view other answers for the post?

Joshua BesneatteI was clearing the late posts, and there was an answer that was a correct answer to the question, so I hit "no action needed". Turns out it was one of the "test" reviews. This question was already answered, and this answer was just a repeat of an existing answer. Am I missing something? Why doe...

Q: Upvoting/Down-voting Questions

j-moneyI am curious as to the mentality behind upvoting/downvoting questions... I can understand the logic behind upvoting/downvoting answers "ok if an answer is bad then downvote it" sure this kind of makes sense (though in my head is a bit silly. if it is a bad answer then let the person who answered...

A: How to print multiline variables in side-by-side columns (bash)?

dessertMeet paste, part of the preinstalled GNU core utilities: $ paste <(printf "$varA") <(printf "$varB") Aug 01 04:25 Aug 04 07:28 Aug 16 03:39 Aug 26 10:06 paste takes files and not variables as input, so I used bash Process Substitution and just printed the variable content with printf. I don't see how that answer using arrays got so many upvotes though
it doesn't fit the question exactly and completely lacks any explanation

Q: How do I restart dbus after manual intervention in upgrade to Ubuntu 18.04?

KevinMI am trying to upgrade from Ubuntu 16.04 LTS to 18.04 LTS. Ugh. Samsung devices.

YOS Samsung devices
have you seen the Note 9?

I have a Galaxy Tab E that thinks the battery is empty when it's full.

oh the tablets

And of course I'm stuck using Odin cuz no Fastboot.
Stupid thing doesn't seem to want to boot now.

can you remove the battery on that device? ?

2:44 PM
Nope.

T-Mobile now gives its subscribers a free Pandora Plus subscription
lol
Odin is insanely powerful though

It may be... if I can get the thing to boot into download mode.
But it just shows the "0%, plug me in!" image.

voldown+home+pwr isn't doing anything?

I never tried using Home.

that's the key combo for download mode

2:45 PM
But Pwr+VolUp/VolDn didn't work.
On a tablet?
Are you sure?

yes
every Samsung

Mkay. I'll try.

the S8 and later use the Bixby button instead because there's no hardware home

Hey, it worked.

but the rest is the same
lol

2:46 PM
Now what do I do... lol.
I don't have the stock images to upload to the device.

plug it in
lol
@NathanOsman

The exact model is SM-T560NU. I think I found a ZIP with the files in it.
But that's the same ZIP I already tried on the device.
Lemme try booting into recovery.

3:04 PM
Well, I find out tomorrow if the old credit card reader on their register is a recognized linux device. It ran on XP, so I can't imagine it's not. Stranger things have happened though.

That was weird. I thought it had completely died for a minute there.
No key combinations were working so I plugged it in and now it claims to at least be charging.

3:32 PM
you tried this one @NathanOsman updato.com/…

3:49 PM
Yup, that exact one.
I'll try the repartition option in Odin though since I did have LineageOS installed on here at one point.

careful with that..
LineageOS won't reparition
it's usually the easiest way to hard brick

Seems I can't anyway.
I don't have a PIT file.
I'll just reflash stock again and see.

hi, i think that i used this command "sudo mv geckodriver /usr/local/bin/" or export path, don't really know which one worked. and now when i type geckodriver in commandline, it uses wrong binary/executable .what do you call these things. How do i replace that geckodriver command would use the correct binary?
or remove the old reference first

4:08 PM
I used nightwatch to kick it off and it solved all the pathing for me. Might have been either one.
It also kept all the binary stuff in the single nvm, so I didn't need it globally installed and it was portable.

@Scorpion I use multi-timer every week. An idea for next version is to override a single cycle from say 17 minutes stored value to 16 minutes temporary value. Glad you got your algo problem fixed!

7:23 PM
@WinEunuuchs2Unix i don' t know why (even before trying algo) i wasn' t able to open "Connection information" so i reinstalled the system with the same username/password and without formatting any partition. It took more time than a normal installation but i lost only a few programs keeping almost everything like the firefox session.
@WinEunuuchs2Unix I have some idea for multi-timer too, what if instead of an alarm the program performs via some speech synthesizer the name of the timer? and every X second sounds an alarm that can be set only for some timers or all.

Q: My Dell bluetooth mouse stopped working after upgrading from Ubuntu 16.04 to 18.04

Eric EspinoThe same happen in my other laptop when I upgraded it from Peppermint 8 to Peppermint 9. PIE vs Absolute code: What is the practical gain? From what I read the speed of execution is technically worsened, minimally. Is the secure nature of using random memory addresses for executing code the only real value of Ubuntu's move toward PIE default enabled? Is there a physical gain or loss in RAM?

Hi! Can I ask for some guidance re: vulkan drivers, AMDGPU and Debian 9 here -- looking for an appropriate IRC channel or place to kinda dissect the problem with someone. this post: askubuntu.com/questions/1041394/… is close to my problem but I'm not having any luck... I think I need a quick refresher on the basics that I might be missing
Specifically when I run lspci -k | grep "Kernel driver in use:" I see radeon not amdgpu
And WoW via Lutris will run battle.net but when launching the game gives a "Your 3d accellerator is not supported" error
(trying to enable and utilize DXVK)
I have a thinkpad with AMD Radeon™ R7 M370
libvulkan1 and libvulkan1:i386 are installed as well as both arch's of mesa-vulkan-drivers and libvulkan-dev
Going to look at AMDs official amdgpu package next
