Guys, I installed a package "certbot" by apt-get, It worked properly, so later I installed "pip" package by apt-get as well. All of a sudden "certbot" is not working anymore, returning the following log:

Q: Upgrade ubuntu to a specific release

bluerenI'm currently on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. As of writing this, 18.04 LTS is available. However, I do not wish to upgrade to it. Instead, I would like to upgrade to 17.04 LTS. I've done: sudo apt update sudo apt dist-upgrade Many tutorials suggest sudo do-release-upgrade as the next step. But I be...

@WinEunuuchs2Unix ---^
@Scorpion Do you have a link on this site to a question already?
if not; go here first if wireless

hi @WinEunuuchs2Unix! i have a question but is on the other pc. Now i got 2 broken internet after trying VPN. I cannot add the default router SIOADDRT: Network is unreachable
this is the other pc askubuntu.com/questions/1064778/… . but i really care more about the other.
the pc doesn 't show any problem but i can' t connect to internet, using route -n there isn' t any default router and i can' t add it

Reading...
@Scorpion What's the error message
@Scorpion Are you having trouble on 2 PCs or one?
P.S. I'm not WinEunuuchs2Unix, I'm Fabby

10:17 AM
2 pc

OK, edit the original question and put the issue of only one PC in there.
than ask another question and describe the issue with the other PC.

yeah seeing your first comment i confuse things

You're confusing the hell out of everyone.

already done
that question is one pc
but for now i don t care, do you know why i can' t add the default router?

Ah so you're running Ubuntu on the host and in a VM?
and you're having a problem in the VM?
Please edit your question, add that to the title and clear it up

10:20 AM
??

also mention which virtualisation software ytou're using.

clear it up?
the VM is fine as i said rebooting soloves the problem

Are you (or not) running both Ubuntu on the host and inside a VM?

i have one Vm with ubuntu server

And what is the host OS?

10:22 AM
and one pc with ubuntu (normal) that i tried to use as a server
ubuntu 16.04 (all)

Server, PC = standalone machine, Host, guest = Physical, Virtual machine.
so you're talking about one physical machine you can kick right?
(one piece of hardware)

almost let me clarify

Don't clarify to me:
edit your question and clarify there.

who care about that pc

is what I've been telling you for 10 minutes already
Your question is confusing.

10:24 AM
a new question, and anyway after i want to fix also that pc

So you've got 2 PCs with 2 problems?

YES

ASK 2 QUESTIONS.
one for one PC and the other for the other one.
:-) :-) :-)

yeah another one but i was wondering if someone know why ican t add deafult router
or how totally reset all internet options

Ask a separate question about the separate problem. The more questions you put into ... well... one question, the more you need one person that is an expert at both your problems.
I'm not even looking into it as I'm confused reading just the first paragraph, so I move on to the next problem.

@Fabby yawns Good Morning

How are you doing?

Don't feel like working.
Motivation is really low with the shit I've had lately.

alone with the heat we had lately i can imagine working isnt No 1 priority

Driving to DE tomorrow. Going to see a doctor there...

11:08 AM
On a Saturday?

Driving to home Saturday, dropping of beer to a colleague in Frankfurt, phoning a doctor Monday.
@Videonauth I should drop a 2TB HDD off at you that I bought a while ago but haven't been able to get to work and no time to do an RMA.
(I'll have to look for it though)
remind me sometime about that.

:) can do, any special timeframe for the reminder?

Maybe when I drive back, I'll drop it off.

@PerlDuck what are we whooping about?

Or are we just whooping because we can?

Yes, I just wanted to say something to check whether people are asleep.

ah.

Whoop is only one letter off of whoops. Just a reminder

goes back to doing what he was doing for work

@ThomasWard I'm also doing sth. for work, but just needed a little break. Sorry for the noise.

no problem. leaves a flashbang behind as he jumps out the window and back to work

@RobotHumans Oh, I didn't notice. I just saw a family TV series and one of the kids is somewhat special. He says “Whoop” all day long if he's either nervous or excited.
Perhaps it's because my vacation just started today and I'm a bit childish due of that.

Never mind.

(I'm in an evil mood this week for some reason, don't mind me...)

@Scorpion I'm really a horribly ignorant person on network topology and network application layer. Installing a Token-Ring card is almost the limit of my experience. None-the-less I posted an answer on your question: askubuntu.com/questions/1064778/… in the remote chance it helps you.

@WinEunuuchs2Unix He mistook you for me because I pinged you...
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@Fabby Phew... I'm off the hook then :D

+1 Just for answering.
I used to be a network engineer and I had no clue what he was going on about.
Asked him 3 or 4 times to edit and clarify his question.

Hard to do if he doesn't know the application or the topology.

I wasn't even sure whether he was having a host/guest or Client/Server problem.
@WinEunuuchs2Unix P.S. congrats on the +50...
You earned it with a lot of work.
I've tried same in the past, but went nowhere.
Please expect the acceptance to change in 24 12 hours, so -15 then for you!

10:42 PM
Thanks on the +50 Hard to decihper when he's talking on the phone to a friend and instructing him to edit /etc/rc.local
LOL @-15. Didn't know you edited your answer

:D :D :D
@WinEunuuchs2Unix I told him to accept you first so you would get the bounty and then do a switcheroo.

haha... collusion in the stack exchange... ^^^ Thomas arrest that guy !!!

Really? Well unplugging the mouse was always suggested as a way to reset it but he wanted a software solution.
Still the script does work for resetting ALL USB devices, including too much like he also wanted... I think he needs to call his friend and double check the script was being called in /etc/rc.local or better yet just reboot from Windows and type sudo reset-usb to check first.
@Fabby That reset-usb script will come in handy for a lot of people rebooting from Windows into Ubuntu. Lots of devices get left unstable by Windows and reseting all devices rather than search for right device USB path using Vendor ID:Product ID makes it a piece of cake!

@WinEunuuchs2Unix I'm convinced your answer it the better one and deserves the bounty.
I'm also convinced that 80% of all users will benefit more with mine.

10:52 PM
@Fabby could you clean the (main) question a bit please? there seems to be a lot of noise, e.g. these identical(!) lsusb screenshots(!)…

wjandrea has a utility to convert screen snapshots into text

It's the hamburger solution: not very innovative, but most people like them (@Zanna being the exception)
@dessert Urgh... Driving 850 Km tomorrow: I'd better go to bed...
(remind me again tomorrow, I might be in a better mood)
:-)

I have to shower for night out with guys & gals from work...I got to run too. Night Fabby, Night Desert.
