I wish so much that at least they had an anonymous button for when downvoting occurs so that people can explain why they are giving you the downvote without giving up identity. It becomes frustrating when you write an answer but get no explanation as to why you got one. Is it wording?
Is it incorrect information? What? https://askubuntu.com/a/1057938/231142

@Terrance this answer didn’t get a downvote – or was it retracted? maybe someone just clicked the wrong arrow and then realized it?

@dessert Yeah, it was retracted, but one wasn't added. So, I don't know.

there is a default downvote comment btw: “This answer is not useful.”
I really wouldn’t want to be forced to explain every downvote, some are just obvious.

I could see that for an answer that is not on topic with the question.
@dessert I get what you're saying. I don't want to be forced either. However, if it is something that you can see and feel it would help then by all means. Or really, in my opinion just get rid of the downvotes all together. What type of message are we sending to people that might be ESL or really trying to help but didn't do a very good job of answering?

true, but that’s something you can’t change IMO

No, I know it can't be changed. Just something I wanted to say though. =)

:)

I have rarely downvoted. Only one time on an answer because it was a blantant copy of my answer. That one got deleted anyway. =) The a few times on really bad questions that were derogatory to our site here. Beyond that, I have pretty much just done the vote to close is all.

Q: Coloured Text to highlight emphasis

GrahamIn this post, the op has used colour to highlight aspects of his question to very good effect. How is that achieved? I can't seem to find a reference as to how it is done and the menu bar at the head of the text body doesn't provide any clues...
