Q: What should I do when a user with poor grammar and formatting denies my edit?

NerdOfCodeAs the title suggests, recently a user denied my edits and insisted on sort of copying them and making my edits their own... What to do? What should I do when this happens, as I believe it has happened in the past and not just today??? You can find the specific case I'm talking about, here.

Yikes. VS Code is really messed up.
Look at all the weird font artifacts.
This is the latest VS Code release on 18.04 daily.
Hmm... I'm not alone:

Why would you build an API with something like django instead of sanic and asyncio? Also, japronto looks crazy if you plug in multiprocessing.

I'm on board the Go train right now, but those sound cool.

Yeah. It takes the downsides and upsides of node and adds them to python in the first case, and the second one is just a performance freak.
I don't mean to diminish it by saying just, I mean to elevate it.

Cool.

In other SE forums asking for recommendations and references are off topic..but encouraged in the chat rooms...I am an experienced C# dev, with extensive work in javascript (and a little java)... but have recently been looking at ubuntu. (particularly in regards to running .net core in ubuntu docker containers. I've found some of the basic stuff easily enough, but I'm looking for a good "Ground Up Ubuntu" primer and would appreciate some direction.

I'm a python guy, but "mono ubuntu docker" would be my search term if I were looking for that.

Thanks...but when I put in a search (Google, bing, whatever) for "Beginning Ubunto" (not doing mono) "Learn Ubuntu" "Ubuntu for Beginners" the response borders on pollution, there is just so much and no telling what is 'good' or 'bad'

This one looks not terrible for getting started, but I don't like C# dotnetliberty.com/index.php/2015/10/04/…
Also, for anyone with doubts about japronto - and it's not a release ready product yet like in the readme - the performance number blew my mind github.com/squeaky-pl/japronto/raw/master/benchmarks/…

3:02 AM
fortunately I don't need help with the C#...what I'm looking for is good command line ubuntu tutorials. This one (dotnetliberty) while mono-centric, still looks like it has some good information for me, thank you.

np. I don't really know what you're looking for, so I can't be more helpful.

Q: How to make separate EFI bootloader entries for Linux Mint and Ubuntu?

BH2017When I install a GRUB bootloader entry (with grub-install --target=x86_64-efi --efi-directory=/boot/efi /dev/sda) from Linux Mint to my hard disk, it overrides my Ubuntu bootloader entry in EFI. To be clear what I mean by "bootloader entry" is what is shown when I press F9. What is shown is a lis...

Q: What and How to install Ethernet adapter drivers

Max JacobI'm currently trying to set a computer with Ubuntu Server (version: 16.04.3). I believe the drivers for the wireless adapter are installed, but I need the iwconfig utility/command to configure it. But in order to get iwconfig, I need an internet connection. I've decided to temporarily enable IC...

Hey everyone!

@NathanOsman Did you try the snap package?

7:30 AM
@NathanOsman There's also a flatpak package from flathub.org/apps.

8:11 AM
@cl-netbox I fixed it!, turns out I had to enable secure boot and add the grub as a trusted efi. In order to do this I first had to get into the bios (password protect) but it turns out that acer bios passwords are backdoored (or just plain weak) and that you can trivially get a bypass password online

@Thijser That's great news ! :) I'm glad that we've got it done. :) Just for your information, the boot loader file being used for secure boot enabled devices is shimx64.efi

Q: Is this answer worthy of undeleting?

WinEunuuchs2UnixWith great power comes great responsibility I read this unanswered question: Triple monitor on Nvidia and Intel and found the answer written by yilmi was deleted. Although I've had protect/un-protect powers for awhile now I've never used them. Now I have delete/un-delete powers also never used....

@Thijser How exactly did you remove the BIOS password?

@IanC so I'm pretty sure Portuguese is just a different way to pronounce Spanish :p

@Fabby all BIOS have default passwords that always work. Using it without those had a too high return rate from people that forgot their password.

@TheWanderer they are similar, but that's actually one of the things that make it hard for a portuguese speaker to learn spanish or vice versa IMHO
you think you know it, because of the similarities, and in the end you don't
